After playing Morrowind through Skyrim thoroughly, I've got to say that Morrowind was the height of the franchise as I know it, and that Skyrim beat Oblivion. Morrowind had a more enthralling story than both Skyrim and Oblivion, and though I like Oblivion's plot more than I do Skyrim's, Oblivion was poorly executed in comparison; it could have been great, but Bethesda was somewhat overly ambitious.

Morrowind was arguably worse than Oblivion in how broken the leveling system was and combat was downright terrible (granted all ES games have bad combat but still)

@Devofone Morrowind's combat, among other gameplay mechanics, was indeed annoying, but just about everything else I found more enjoyable. By height of the franchise, I mean to say that I enjoyed it more than any other, even in the absence of dragon battles with meteors raining from the sky.

i love oblivion, thought it was awesome, and really i only prefer skyrim because the high elves don't look weird, just alien... overall the layout of all the maps and inventories was just easier in oblivion, i reckon.

I have been around for all the popularized Elderscrolls releases and have owned them all when they were released (being that I also owned the original 2 as well) and when it comes down to which is best, really I think it all boils down to which one the Player was introduced to first,(in most cases) all were exceptionally great games with epic soundtracks and (for its time) gameplay. Cant we just enjoy them all!

I played Oblivion earlier this week. Before then I didn't realize what a magical, nostalgic feeling I get while playing it. Skyrim is a great game as well that has it's own amazing qualities.

I made this video before TES V was released; but now that I look back at it I've realized that these games can't really be compared. Sure graphics can be compared, but the feelings, gameplay, style, and overall designs of these games can never be compared.

The graphics for Skyrim may have been great but everything else wasn't great. The world was simplified way too much and the mechanics were way too simplified for the console. The skills were simplified too much and the number of weapons and armor was simplified too much as well as the fact that when you wear armor it is and entire suit of armor instead of separate pieces of armor like in Morrowind. Overall Skyrim was simplified to much for hardcore gamers and consolfied too much for pc players.

Skyrim is good, don't get me wrong. The graphics are good, the character models are amazing, but the questlines just feel lacking, compared to Oblivion. Granted, Skyrim's quests have better stories, but they're too damn short. Oblivion's were long, and had minimal story, but I still feel like Oblivion is the better game. With that said though, I've already played Skyrim for some 300-odd hours. Lvl 72 Bosmer Warrior/Assassin. All achievements done. Still have 32 leftover dragon souls too.
