  • @jazz2511 I just realized this is your version, but it sounds like Bill Evans,I mean the tones and the notes that you have used. It's simply amazing :)

  • @jazz2511 is this what exactly Bill Evans did? I'm just asking though cause I wish to analyze and learn the way he reharm.

  • Wow! Cool! You got a great touch and swing and rich harmony.... Thanks for posting! Pleasant and helful! :o)

  • Hy.give me please the score for that song please ,please so much .

  • Gorgeous! Fantastic! Love your alternate chords and voicings! Thanks for posting this! Very inspirational.

  • Fantastic! Love the chords, harmonies, and the improvs.

  • how i wish i could jam with you.

  • Hi everybody! Some one can tell me 10 essential jazz songs to play in trio? I'm a begiinner in this. Thank you.

  • @AlbertSerrano It depends a little on your audience and a lot on your personal tastes, but really, any tune will do if you're committed to it.

  • @gelchert Thank you, well I like the style of Gene Harris.

  • @AlbertSerrano So listen to some of his albums. Pay attention to how he plays the melody, what he does with his left hand, and how he interacts with the other members of his group. If there's a soloist other than him, listen to his comping, too. Like I said, any tune will work if you want it to work. There's a guy on here right now who can play the entire intro to "Baba O'Riley" by the Who on piano - your imagination is really the only limit.

  • Great!

  • How many times did he have to listen to Bill Evans rendition to copy him? Nice but not very original.

  • thank you for posting your video....its so kind of you...i can play all my favorite old songs now.....

  • So kind of you to post all the explanations :) So it's very useful for anybody who's studying!

  • HOW DOES IT FIT ON ONE PIECE OF PAPER!!

  • Because He is NOT reading the part... he es Improvising ....

  • very intellectual

  • ,.....makes me want to find my piano teachers old real book,. i think i was thinking of doing this song in hs for literary..

  • Love the annotations because he knows what its all about. Just like a chess player there are moves that masters and teachers know that most aspiring technicans do not see or think about when improvising. It takes thought to 'conjure' up the lushness and tonal beauty with lyricism on the piano

  • Nice

  • I think this is very 'big' of you to include what are usually closely guarded 'secrets' in your excellent voicings so the rest of us can at least get some idea of what's happening. I think you should produce an instructional video as you know what you are talking about. It would have to be better than some of the so-called 'instructional' crap out there at the moment! Thanks a lot. Great work.

  • again great technique , but melody too diguised and a bit hesitant and rarified ! ! also , suggest drop the gimmick at 2.3 ! ! ! that's just my amateur opinion ! !

  • What you are talking about??? 2.3 is the best. Just listen until you get it.

You play like Bill evans, for real man. I hope you keep posting. Awsome.

  • Maestro !

  • thank you this helpfull posting!!

  • i think i have that same sheet music

    fake and real books ftw

  • Nice song!!

    What keyboard are you using?

  • Yamaha p 250

  • very tasteful!!!

  • Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL, ***BEAUTIFUL!!!*** Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed listening and watching your play this classic. What a treat! (and educational!) Thank you VERY MUCH for posting this for us all to enjoy!

  • Couldn't stop myself again ... HAD to sing along ... ;-)

  • thank you for this. it's an extremely helpful look into some beautiful techniques. might i suggest lime green for the text color? i'm having trouble reading it sometimes.

  • Beautiful Piano !! THANKS MAN !!

  • Hi,

I was searching for Oscar Peterson. Your clip I found just between those of OP. I think that is exactly where you belong to. GREAT Music. Thanx a lot.

  • nice chordal stuff

  • i love your armonies!!! you are the best man!!!

    thanks for the music

  • ah! it's pretty! jazz is just sooo... i don't know... something... perfect? inspiring? hmmm... dangerous! that's the word, coz my heart stops when i hear it. keep it up. i can handle being 16 years old and having my first heartattack... what a story that'd be! mmm...jazz... it'll be the death of me.

  • You've transcribed as much Bill Evans as I have. Keep it alive man!

  • beautiful arrangement

  • About the best I have ever heard. I should be so lucky to play like that. Do you give lessons?

  • I could literally listen to this pianist all day. He plays with taste{which a lot of the modal monsters havent a clue about } I wish the chord technique menu would be left on for a longer time so I could read it without jammin to get it all Kudos!

  • Thanks to give me a reason to take of my hat!

    }Regards{

  • beautiful harmonies!!!!!! great job !!!!!

  • q linda version, q buena expresion al tocar y muy buen registro d piano, realmente genial!

  • i love this

  • How in hell do you do a two-finger gliss?? What two fingers?

  • What a beautiful and soulful playing!!!

  • It's the Yamaha P250!

  • You're right. Either a P250 or the newer version, CP300 which is the one I have. Great piano!

  • PIANO SOUNDS GREAT! WHAT KIND IS IT?

  • i just finished learning those block chords myself. altho i dont know about the locked hand thing. personally there is literally a "block chord" scale i learned with alternating middle notes, with always the doubled root. and the voicing varies on the role of the upper root note yours sound great too tho :-D

loved your phrasing at around 3:40

  • What is this keyboard brand/model ?

  • Hello from one of your students. Thanks for teaching these things. How completely cool of you to teach in this way.

    Cheers

  • You are a super piano player..i don't get tired listening to your style..I am also a piano player similar in style as yours but just play to relax myself..can you do an arrangement of Autumn Nocturne..will love listening to your version..Txs

  • really kind of u to share this

  • fantastic stuff

  • I took my first Jazz Piano class last week. My dream is eventually I would grasp the language of jass to a point that I could improvise and express beautifully. Do you have any suggested readings for a beginner? Or any suggestions?

Thank you! Your music is beautiful.

    Mimi Wang

  • Very nice job...what are you using for your rhythm section..particularly the bass...do you have a band in the box type program..or are you sequencing yourself...and what sound module is giving you the nice fat bass sound....keep up the good work...DBT

  • so beautiful! sad to say i cannot improvise

  • Amazing ... Fantastic

  • what key is this?

  • This is in the key of F - I used the changes from the original 'Real' book - page 105 for the basic harmony, and adjusted these as I played - the annotations explain some of these.

I tried to play in the style of the Bill Evans trio - I did the bass and drums first, and tried to fit the piano around this as I played, responding to the bass and drums as best I could. Sometimes I do this several times, re-doing the drums and/or bass to respond to the piano improvisation.

  • Nice job on the Bill Evans trio sound. Very tasty swing at 4:39 after all that Evans piano and bass.

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful. That's all I can say.

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Be With You,

    Cal-el & Swissy
