How to partition a hard drive on Windows 7

Great video and easy enough to do.

However, I want to make my spare partion about half the size of the main one. I have 540 gigs available. I would like the spare one to be about 400 gigs...but I am limited to making it approx. 100 gigs. Is there any way to have more freedom over how big I can make the spare partition? I've already tried to defragment.

@40milc Try doing a defragment before doing shrink.

Right click on your C: drive> take properties> select tools> select defrag> and click on defrag now>

Wait until it is 100% complete.. then try shrinking as mentioned in this video.

Does anybody remember Partition Magic? It is truly amazing that Microsoft cannot even replicate today what Partition Magic could do 15 years ago: shrink on both size of the partition, MOVE partition,etc... Yes, this functionality is a improvement over XP, but still.... is this ALL what they could do? Pathetic.
