  • i couldn't agree more! so sad what happened to beAUTIFUL soul music from the past.

  • Beautiful Tune, Beautiful Lyrics, Great Sound Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66! It Still ROCKS!

  • SAD TO SAY I AGREE WITH @CAMKING88 .... RAP IS REALLY CRAP!! WE'RE ALL ENTITLED TO MOVE ON IN OUR TASTE OF MUSIC,AND LEGENDS SUCH AS SERGIO MENDES FOR EG. WHO'S IN THE MUSIC ,PRODUCTION AND RECORDING BUSINESS, HAS TO CATER FOR THE 'NOW SOUND AND CROWD'.I''M SURE HE ALSO FEELS THAT IT REALLY IS JUST HEAD-BANGING BULLSHIT...BUT BUSINESS IS BUSINESS I GUESS. I HAVE SUNG WITH A BAND FOR MANY YEARS SO I DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN OR PLAY TO CRAP I DON'T WANT TO , AND NOR DOES ANYONE ELSE.

  • @jules8002 You don't know that for sure, now do you? You can't presume to know why Sergio makes the artistic choices he makes. If he were doing it for the sales, don't you think he would have collaborated with the most popular rappers, not the somewhat obscure (what we call underground) ones (with the exception of will.i.am)? Artists like Pharoahe Monch and The Roots don't sell in the hip hop community, what makes you think they will sell to Sergio Mendes' fanbase?

  • This girls busted away from her brothers, & the Buffalo Springfield @ just the right time!!! She had so many awesome hits, it's almost unbelievable! Sadly missed, but FONDLY remembered!

  • The wonderful version that I remember.

  • 9 people have the look of 'dislike'....

  • @MrMikeb1958 .....Unfortunately, 11 now....

  • @centralparocker There will be always another one to follow, just give it a little more time. Have a great weekend! :)

  • Brilliant....

  • A timeless sound that sounds great 40 years later.

  • AFTER THIS I NEED A CIGGERETT WOW bg

  • Every time I listen to this I feel the need to have a cocktail.

  • Love their sound. The girls couldn't be better singers, and the brazilian tempo just adds a unique, interesting flavor to their mix. This really was when music was MUSIC!

  • it's a great version!

  • reminds me of a girl named Senga

  • I don't really like modern rap, but Sergio Mendes is a complete genius to help that genre of music to appeal to an older generation. My mum and dad are hard-core jazz fans in their 70's and they both like the recent stuff that he's recorded (even had the good fortune of meeting him in person after being fans of him since the mid 60's!).

  • These female voices cause feelings that make me glad that I'm a man.

  • I saw Sergio in Huntington, WV, and indeed he invited a rapper onstage and they worked very well together. Mendez remains one of the most talented and influential jazz musicians around! I've been enjoying his music for over 40 years now.

  • slow dancin yeh

  • When music was MUSIC !!!

  • The best ....

  • This is their best hit single sung by Janis Hansen, not Lani Hall, even though Janis and her voice are beautiful too.

Beautiful voice, melody and arrangement. Perfect!

  • I have this album and a working record player this group just sounds so great BG

  • @windstorm1000 I agree that it would probably sound good by anyone (talented) who chose to perform it, but this is the only version to break the Billboard top 10. I also have always loved their version of The Fool on the Hill.

  • this is one several versions i like.those who don't like this song must not have the look of love.

  • I feel like this could be a theme song for a Bond movie. It's got the whole package: Sexy, cool, jazzy, and has some high brass notes in there.

  • @arabking1985 it is the theme song of a bond movie! it was written specifically for the 1967 version of Casion Royale.

  • i saw them open for Sinatra & Buddy Rich in July '67 in philly Convention Hall(gone), whenthey were still Brasil '66, this one for sure.

  • What a brilliant arrangement! SM and Brazil '66 was way before my time, but I love it anyway.

  • This guy was a great musician, and turned out a lot of great music.

  • 7 atleast. Retards!!!!

  • Great song, Any chance of you posting "Like A Lover".

    Thank you.

  • My favorite song from 1968.

  • 6 people don't know what love looks like.

  • one of my all time favorite albums

  • This is, of course, a Bachrach/David classic, but I have to give props to Dave Grusin for the arrangement on this Sergio Mendes/Brasil '66 version. I remember this used to sound fantastic on the brand new RCA console my parents bought back in 1968!

  • @Meridian83West

    Me too

  • Yes, the vocal here is the now Janice Klinger, not the also-talented Lani Hall. Great job, right?

  • DW- I'm trying not to be prejudged, but anytime I see a song that Lani has recorded but sang by another- I just can't listen to it- you have ruined me girl but in a good way.

  • Sooo Sexxey!! YA

  • If this music doesn't move you. Your dead inside

  • Janis Hansen's one and only Sergio Mendes solo vocal released after she had left the band in 1968 being replaced by Karen Philipp. Most of early Brasil 66 female vocals were done by Lani Hall of course.

  • @mrnarendrapatel1 I am a Christian songwriter. I would like to contact Janis to offer her some songs. If you have any information that let me to contact her, I will thank you a lot.

  • i thank god i didnt throw this a lbum out when i was akid..i my 12 birthday and was playing led zep and yes/my mom thought to be funny oh do u want sergio im no i luv it today

  • The best version of this great song, thanks for posting.

  • Love for ever<3<3<3... So great<3<3<3

  • All I have to do is hear their music, and I'm 21, brown from the sun, dancing at the Beach Hut in Panama City, Florida, and loving life!

  • After Dusty's version, this is my other favorite of this song (oh, and we can't forget Diana Krall either (LOL).....

  • powermac g3... I love it!

  • Great stuff! Where the hell did all the good music go?

  • @romanticwarrior97 The good music is right here online, on YouTube pages just like this one! It's also in the music stores, in our own collections, and most importantly in our hearts & memories for us to look back upon and enjoy. Just because they don't play classics like this on Top 40 radio anymore doesn't mean they're gone, and for that I'm thankful!

  • @quirpco That's all true but I was more referring to the lack of great music being produced today that will stand the test of time as this has. I doubt I'll be remembering most of today's stuff in 20 or 30 years. Hell, I won't be remembering it NEXT year! :-)

  • @romanticwarrior97 ....I don't even remember today's new music now. Never did...never will...

  • A wonderful summer memory

  • Timeless magic. This group has recorded the most dynamic, brilliant masterpieces human ears have ever had the oppurtunity to hear.

  • The ultimate 60's song.

  • Music at its best!!

  • sexy...relaxing music..luv it...

  • This song goes back when candy was a dime and gum was a nickel. How times have flown by. Damn

  • love it.. mas que nada.. is so great

  • love it.. mas que nada.. is so great

  • GREAT SONG.

  • I AGREE WITH BOSWELL69 SM AND BRASIL 66 HAVE IT ALL THANK YOU FOR POST WHAT CLASS AT IT'S FINEST WE ARE SOUTHERN CAL 2.

  • One of my favorite all time songs and versions of the song as well. As I've developed as a musician/writer over the years, I appreciate at an even deeper level each year, Burt's writing prowess.

  • super tune.

  • A classic. I made love to this song. It was unbelievable!

  • I have absolutely loved this song, and this version of it by Brazil 66, ever since I was a kid............I will never tire of it...........so very wonderful

  • @boswell69 Thanx for posting the finest love song ever written... SM'66 does a fantastic job with this song...

  • セルジオ!これ以上のバカラックの“恋の面影”のカバーは40年以上出てこないヨ、ダイアナ・クラールのスローモードもよかったが

  • WHY YOUTUBE DOESN'T HAVE A REPLAY EVERY TIME BUTTON?

  • @MusicFan9428..

  • Snoopy Dog-Dog or Didly P or 25-cent could never even imagine having enough musical talent to write a song like this. Burt Bacharac was a genius.-

  • @mpd195 Burt would be pretty pissed at u for mention his name along with these guys. They don't write nothing. they might scibble some misspelled words on paper, but burt is a composer. Big Difference u know

  • @mpd1958 The only problem with your statement is that these guys are millionaires and probably could'nt care less.

  • OMG. There are two idiots out there! Thanks for the post boswell69! What a great, sexy song. Brought me and my wife back together afther a very short separation.

  • Reminds me of the BBC version of this classic song by the BBC Northon Danace Orcastra then remamed the NDO!

  • 2 people unfortunately, dont know what love is...

  • you are all darn right pals!!!!!!

  • I have loved this song since the first time I heard it so many years ago..............it's timeless, and I love it just as much today............absolutely wonderful

  • They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • THis song sings good with almost anybody singing it---indestructable--a classic--and its fabulous here---it has an inherent Latin beat to it--and BRazil 66 just brought that quality out even more. Great great version...beautiful arrangement...beautifully sung. 60's chic. I want a maritini and a pretty lady now!!

  • @windstorm1000 hell yeah!

  • @windstorm1000 I'm having mine Now...,join me..,Beefeater UP ,Brunette Down ;),Sergio..,smoooth!

    Cheers!!!!

  • @windstorm1000

A martini and a Cinzano Bianco! subito...:-)

  • @windstorm1000 OOooo! I'm with ya brother! This tune is so tasty, I can hardly stand it! Everything Brazil 66 turned out back then was just... golden! Man, now I need a Mai Tai!

  • Beautiful version--next to Dusty's...

  • this is my favorite of many good versions. bought this album new!

  • This IS Awesome!! LOVE IT!!

  • Great! I'd almost forgotten about this one! But no, can't compare with the original: Dusty's voice and that sax!

  • I have had the pleasure of meeting Senor Mendes and working with his son and had always loved his work and I do agree that this is the most romantic version. He brings the Bossa rhythm and if I could live my over again I would have loved to mix this without the Black Eyed Peas as his original version was clearly "Timeless".

  • Happy 70th B-Day Mr. Mendes.

  • take me back when I listen to my dads music wonderful...

  • The people who clicked the dislike button must be aliens from outer space.

  • @utubemusiccritic

    Yes,

It was Zorg from the Planet Borg, LOL.

  • @utubemusiccritic You are wright, at least Aliens from outer space. This music is just amazing and wonderful.

  • @utubemusiccritic 1% of the population is destined for extinction. If you clicked disklike evolution will take care of you

  • @utubemusiccritic, I bet I know who they are. They are probably middle school or high school kids, because I have a 13 year old who would probably hate this song. I love oldies from 50's, 60's, 70's and she HATES almost every song I like. She's into that horrible, bloody rap crap.

  • @ProudKansan08 Guess who else is into "that horrible, bloody rap crap". The man himself, Sergio Mendes. He collaborates regularly with rappers. No need to put down a whole genre of music just because YOU don't like or respect it.

  • @camking88 if you mean Sergio Mendes collaberating with Black Eyed Peas, I have a CD by them and I love it!

  • @SlothbearFan Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, that's what I mean. And he also collabed with Pharoahe Monch and Pharrell Williams. But people are so closed-minded nowadays that they immediately down something they don't like, especially if it's rap. Too bad they're not more open like us ; )

  • @camking88 yeah, I agree; we know great music when we hear it; our daughter listens to rap music and some of it is not bad; the lyrics often are good; I am so happy to see that so many people here love Sergio Mendez and Brasil '66 and '77 and '88!

  • @camking88 No disrespect intended but just because Sergio Mendes collaborates with a rap group doesn't automatically make it good. Commercially produced rap music of today has the same quality as all of the made in china stuff Walmart sells. I'll listen to old school rap music any day over today's offerings.

  • @gypsyThree97 I'm not saying all rappers are good. Just as in every other genre, there are good artists and there are bad artists. I'm saying that Sergio Mendes has respect for the art form, not that he will collaborate with just anyone who raps just because he likes rap music. People tend to put all rappers and all rap music in one bag, without allowing for the diversity that they allow other genres. I'm sure Sergio isn't dying to collaborate with Soulja Boy, but maybe Mos Def, Q-Tip, Kanye.

  • @camking88 anyone with an IQ over 1 knows rap is crap

  • @hotmn4u So what are you saying about Sergio Mendes? Or others like Aretha Franklin, Carlos Santana, and even Paul McCartney who has also collaborated with rappers over the years. As I said before, just because YOU think rap is crap does not mean everyone else does.

  • @camking88 get over it, rap is CRAP

  • @hotmn4u Why should I get over it, I don't make rap music and I don't collaborate with those who do. That would be Sergio Mendes, Aretha Franklin, Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Aerosmith, Elton John, the list goes on. They're the ones contributing this "crappy" music. I can see you're set in your beliefs and I respect that. But I will rather take the word of those I just named on what is or isn't real music.

  • @camking88 as a consumer and a life long listener to music, Iam sorry to say rap is CRAP

  • @camking88 The fact that Mendes may have lost his mind, talent or taste in the past decade or two does NOT validate Rap as a genre. It's garbage, period.

  • @camking88 and since when was criticizing a genre unacceptable? It's just as much a part of the dialogue of criticism as reviewing an individual artist or song. You may still hate a singer even though they may have one song out of fifty that you actually like.

  • @hyperion30000 I never said criticizing a genre is unacceptable. What is unacceptable is you and others on here stating your OPINION as if it is an undeniable FACT. You think rap is garbage, that is fine for you. But Sergio Mendes, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, even Miles fucking Davis DON'T think it is. What makes your opinion more valid than theirs? What makes your opinion more valid than mine?

  • @utubemusiccritic pls do not dis aliens, these individuals are clearly earless mutants

  • Love their harmonies--and the band is fabulous. Immortal song by David/Bacharach. So elegant --cool. I see myself in a penthouse with a great view of L.A--the sun going down, with cavier, champagne and a pretty lady--those images always come into mind!!!

  • My cassette of "FOur" is all but shot....gotta find it on CD!

  • This is the sexiest song ever recorded...

  • @zman117 ..er...um...thanks for sharing such intimate details of your personal life...you're a REAL class act.... (cough, cough....)

  • @superbruce SWAG SWAG SWAG SWAG BRANGKADANK YOUR GIRLFRIEND

  • @zman117 ...young person- you are what is known as a PIG- and you make our gender and YOUR generation look like P-I-G-S........

  • @superbruce YOUTUBE IS MY GENERATION! I DONT COME TO THE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND TROLL ON YOUR GENERATION #BASED

  • @zman117 ..so if thats true- WHY are looking at music that was written 25 years before you were born ???... now, get to sleep son, its past your bedtime....!!!

  • @superbruce MUSIC HAS NO AGE LIMIT. IT NEVER EXPIRES OR GETS OLD. SEE WITH YOUR MIND NOT YOUR EYES. BOOMROASTED

  • @zman117 ..well then there you go friend- you just contradicted yourself- by saying that YOUTUBE was 'your'generation- guess the 'age-limit thing goes both ways , n'est pas ?

  • @superbruce NEGATIVE GHOSTRIDER. AGE IS A MINDSET. YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT HAVE THE MINDSET FOR SUCH "CHILDISH" ANTICS AS YOUTUBE, SO YOU YOURSELF SUBCONCIOUSLY LIMIT YOUR OWN VIEW POINT RENDERING YOU JUDGEMENTAL.

  • @zman117 ...You were the one that admitted that Youtube is fun for all ages- I NEVER said that it wasn't. Judgment- is an assessment that each and everyone of us participates in EVERYDAY! It is a simple evaluation that one thing is better than an other- it is that simple. You expected persons to "LOL" at your crude comments abot your sexual exploits, and it backfired on you- and here I am am arguing with a poorly educated, unsophisticated moron...what a waste of time.

  • @superbruce LOLSSSS. BUT IN COMPARISON WHOSE THE MORON FOR ARGUING WITH THE MORON? IF YOU WERE SO SMART YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE COMMENT FOR WHAT IT WAS INSTEAD OF SEEING YOURSELF AS AN AUTHORITATIVE FIGURE ON A PUBLIC WEBSITE. SO YOU STOOPED DOWN TO MY LEVEL PAL.

  • I was in the third grade when I first heard this recording and it left me mesmerized then and I still love it 45 years later! Thanks for posting it.

  • What's old is new and old is better.

  • Sexy, sexy version--& it never grows old. Far & away, THE best version, ever. Wolfsky9

  • Growing up this song was in constant rotation on 8 track in my dads lincoln.. Great song.

  • えーっ!66年なの!!びっっくり

    love music♪

    Thanks boswell69(^_^)

  • Wow, this one just reeks of the late 60's, I love it!

  • I fell in love with Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66 back in 1967. Love that beat.

  • I love this song! I grew up with this kind of music! I had the privilege of finally seeing Sergio Mendez perform at a concert several years ago, in the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, CA. The company that I worked for sponsored the event and Mr. Mendez came into the VIP tent and my dad and I were able to meet him, and we I got to shake his hand. I guess the performers must be different but they sounded great!

  • I love he Anita Baker Version of this song!

  • @lazramyar This original version rules!

  • My favorite version of The Look of Love and the best ever in my opinion

  • Powerful stuff. You will get LUCKY with this song. Seriously. Act accordingly.

  • There isn't a quarter-note in this song that isn't dead on perfect; brilliantly arranged and sung.

  • My parents had this on 8 track.

  • Sometime the phrase "timeless" is used to carelessly. This song and album are without a doubt "timeless". Thanks for adding it out here.

  • Lani Hall is married to Herb Alpert and they still tour together. Here voice is still magical.

  • @jspiker1974 Lani and Herb are, imo, an unappreciated American prince and princess story....and the coming together of Sergio with Lani and Herb's help with arrangements was a pop music perfect storm of its day..in my thinking

  • This guy can't even go to the bathroom in South America.

  • GOD! Required background music for, well, you know. And one of the two or three songs I can ALMOST sing decently!

  • I have been enjoying them since the 60s.

  • i saw them to this in the 60s at Lincoln Center Lani Hall gave me shivers What a powerful volice

  • fergie who?

  • I just love this song. This version only.

  • As I melt into my chair. What more can you say about a song that is so beautiful, so romantic, and so smooth it almost hurts!

  • What beauty of spirit.

  • ageless - great album

  • It doesn't get any cooler!!!

  • Compare with Dusty Springfield's version. It's like comparing two shiny

diamonds. In the hands of a great artist, this song can do no wrong.

  • Well said. Great insight. Great sadness in hearing it again for me, though -- as the world that first heard it, the Milieu of the Old American Republic, is now gone, perished on the greed of the consumer culture. We could have been citizens. We settled for being consumers. And the disparity between this music and today's stands as proof.

  • @408knw Yes, I have to agree with you there---you listen to this---and then you see what people are listening to now....well, can we grab some Brazil 66 albums, blast into outer space and create a new untainted musical world somewhere else, right??!!

  • OMG!!! I must get this CD!! I love this!! Oh to have been a teenager back then.

  • Wonderful version!!! So nice.. (Sept. 07, 2010).

  • A musical masterpiece! What I wouldn't give to have those magical, musical days of the 1960s revived and reincarnated.

  • The 60s take me back please

  • Amazing !

  • was this when astrud gilberto was working with him?

  • @hyperman1010 This is one of the big misconceptions about Astrud Gilberto: She never worked with Sergio Mendes (she talked about it in a 2002 interview). I think people thought that Sergio worked with every Brazilian artist (or confused Lani Hall with Astrud); the other big misconception was that she was married to Jobim.

  • @hyperman1010 thanks, jim. i always thought it was astrud that worked with sergio mendes in the 60s. i remember her beautiful voice for the three bars she sang for eastern airlines.

  • Hands-down, THE sexiest song ever--ever recorded--Period. Masterful! Wolfsky9

  • FANTASTIC NUMBER INCREDABLE SONG PERFORMED BY A INCREDABLE GROUP WOW! WHAT CLASS.
