  • why does this song make me cry

  • Love Jim..second favourite song of mine..first one is Bad Timing..I would rather hear Jim's voice than any other on the planet...I'm due for a show. Must track him down and get some tickets.

  • how can someone dislike Jim Cuddy?...shame on you 8 people....

  • I love the video itself. Whoever was responsible for the design and filming - kudos! Of course Jim's song is beautiful and I heard it was when his uncle died that he wrote this song for how his aunt must feel. Jim's talent is uncompromising and he is so gifted.

  • Love it... and love him!

  • and if anyones interested in the next great canadian artist its my good friend colin moore , this guys has been at it for 20 years since we were kids . he has stories to tell.

  • there is something about this guy that just rings home ..

  • Actually, he is 57.

  • Great lyrics and music! Great Canadian talent, indeed!

  • .....a perennial cosmic showstopper.......simply beautiful..... :)

  • One of my favorite songwriters! Have had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, and he's as nice as he is talented!

  • Such a beautiful song but yet brings tears to my eyes every time.

  • ...I'm still trippin' over echoes left lying in the hall....

  • Brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to this song.

  • I just saw him live at Kempenfest :) He was amazing! Ughh great song <3

  • Un musicien accompli, un chanteur à la voix unique, un homme magnifique et des chansons qui viennent nous titiller les tripes. Pas de doute, Jim, je suis une fan engagée à vie! xxx

  • This voice helps bring hope to the world!

  • love ya jimmy--you are an example of a great musician and Canadian

  • This song means so much to me. Makes me think of my mother who died a few years ago of Alzheimers. I feel sad every time I hear it. Jim Cuddy is my favourite singer. He has wonderful vocal range and you can't help but feel emotional when you hear him sing - a true gift. Would love to spend the day with Blue Rodeo.

  • I am 51 years of age and feeling like a failure.

Guess some of us make it an others just dont cut it.

    Hi, my name is Carole.

I was raised in Sudbury, Ontario.

My Aunt saved me back on July31,1977.

I moved to Edmonton Alberta on July 31, 1977, on the last day of Klondike Days.

  • borring! good singer for funerals.

  • @MsDreamshaker Agreed ....

  • Please watch my cover of Pull Me Through, found under Video Responses. Your support is greatly appreciated.

  • oh and by the way, he's 55

  • Jim Cuddy is gorgeous, very sexy man. He is one of the best singer/songwriters of our time. He wrote this song from the perspective of a family member who was grieving the loss of their husband or wife after 30 plus years of marriage. He's been at it for 25 yrs or more, sometimes solo, but more often he is performing as the front man for Blue Rodeo. I've seen them 5 times and it's always a great show, especially the summer time outdoor venues. They come to Vancouver atleast once a year!

  • I wish I lived in Canada and could see this person and band where--ever they may be.

  • No , it is not just you...from the first time I saw him until today he is and remains the most gorgeous man I have ever had the privledge to see and talk to long ago. From the songs he writes he shows such beauty in his soul that just shines off him as magical as northern lights. No shallowness or pretention about him. Whew!

  • No words..just tears...to beautiful... just true.

  • He has a voice that is indescribable...but I would say HAUNTING! & Soulful...he sings from his gut, not his head.

  • I can not imagine a better song to remind us how much we need our friends, loved ones, and yes sometimes even those we dislike!

  • i cant help but recommend a similar original " in Your Mind" by andrew gerbasi . check it out. I loved it

  • Great song, great voice!

    fw.

  • Hey guys! This is absolutely one of my favourite songs, and Jim Cuddy is definitely my favourite singer/songwriter. For these reasons I chose to cover "Pull Me Through" at my high school Christmas concert. Please take the time to watch my performance (you'll find it above under the Video Responses entitled "Pull Me Through"), rate and/or comment if you feel it is deserved. Thank you so much and god bless!

  • hes in saskatoon tonight for new years

  • I really don't think he and Blue Rodeo are underrated. Fame comes at a price and they decided not to pay that price. I know they are as good or better than anything out there. They just decided not to sell out to the music industry, which in my opinion makes them even better.

They truly depict what real music should sound like!!

  • @bottomfeeder73 I agree 100% One of my favorite bands from 10 years ago has been the Rascall Flatts..Just a couple days ago I caught the last part of a concert...It was all flash and to much and they had that young kid who is so popular here sing with them..10 years ago they reminded me of Blue Rodeo with the song"I'm moving on" Now I think Blue Rodeo are "better off as they are"..Still lovin them.Kate

  • KL;J

  • i like it.....

  • These guys should be WAY more popular.

No one in my school's ever even heard of them... I find that sad.....

  • He's simply amazing.

I really look up to him & his stuff.

  • having a broken heart is one of the worst things to go through :(

  • This Saturday is the 3rd anniversary of the passing of my wife Traci & our daughter Ariana during childbirth. Our first child of almost 15 years of marriage. I...can't stop bawling when I here this. The only other tune that makes me do that is Kate Bush's This Woman's Work.

  • @schweppes069 wow man, that's unfortunate. Sorry to hear about your loss. Reading that makes this song a hell of a lot more sad. Stay strong dude.

  • @Ramjam9000 thank you.

  • Jim Cuddy is a classic - and he's Canadian!! I saw Blue Rodeo twice- the first time was about 20 years ago at Ontario Place- then again in Hamilton Copps Colesium last year... Awesome... Some of their videos are also awesome...!!!!

  • How does this not have millions of views?!?! I could listen to this song all day..

  • Very beautiful song :)

  • I just can't stay away....

  • beautiful song

  • Love Love Love this song. Had it played at my best male friend's funeral, he could always 'Pull Me Through" and this song is getting me through the rest of it. Magnificent voice, best voice out there today, thank you thank you Jim Cuddy.

  • This video has helped me through some tough times. I always scoffed at folks that see their emotions play out in videos...then I had my life handed to me on a platter. Thank you, Mr. Cuddy.

  • I loved this song the first time I heard it and still love it. Exquisite lyrics expressed by a beautiful voice.

  • The only reason why I like this song is because it was played at my grandmas funeral and it was her favourite song R.I.P GRANDMA <3

  • Such a brilliant writer with a strong passionate soulful voice, I never tire of listening to Jim your music certainly does pull me through.......thank you for posting his amazing talent.

  • Amazing singer, amazing songwriter, incredible talent.....unfortunately underrated!

  • @cynsisterc

i couldnt of said it better myself.

  • @cynsisterc very underrated and dont forget HOTTT

  • thanks

  • Yeah Jim is truly blessed with pure natural talent. The guy was born to write music!

  • Havin a memorial for my mom tomorrow. We're usinEverybody Cries, but now I'm gonna add this too.

  • He wrote it when his Aunt died. Because his Aunt and his Uncle were so close, he said he couldn't imagine what that would feel like.

  • Yes the song is about a husband (or partner) losing his wife/spouse... he wrote it based on a friend he had who lost his wife of over 60 years. Cuddy said he couldn't imagine what that would be like to lose someone after being together 60 years.

  • actually, i'm pretty sure he WROTE it from that perspective but it was actually written about losing his uncle.

  • maybe you should find his live version floating around on youtube somewhere. He gives an introduction to the song where he got the inspiration from and that was it, upon talking with a close friend who lost his wife of 60 years.

  • love the song, love the band, but this video is terrible...what a shame

  • Blue Rodeo are fantastic! And Jim Cuddy is one of THE most talented artists out there. HIs voice is genuine and pure,.

  • I love Blue rodeo!!!!

  • His balads are genius.

  • for ALL of the stars who've blazed my orbit to help pull me thru the darknesses around those bullet holes of light ... thank you

  • A song telling of a husbands heart braking loss...yet tells us that an enduring love can bring us thru and past the loss

  • He's amazing.

    Canada!!!!!

  • May 8th, 2007, that is.

  • Oh shit! I just had to follow up Kate Bush's This Woman's Work, with this tune. My wife of almost 15 years & our first-born daugher died lass than 10 minutes apart on May 8th. I shoulda known better.

  • Blessings.

  • I am deeply sorry for your loss. We can ask ourselves over and over WHY do these things happens....I hope you can find comfort in the life you have had with them and that your life still has more to come. Be well.

  • @Belthazor696

I'm crying right now as I'm reading your comment. Everyone should know Jim Cuddy's name!

  • @Belthazor696 It really is true. I cant listen to any song off the "all in time" album without tearing up. His songs really have a way of bringing back memories.

  • This song has striking similarities to "sky blue and black" by Jackson Browne, which was written in 2001.

  • 'Sky blue and black' was released in 1993 on his album 'I'm Alive'

  • wow i actually didn't know that. for some reason i was under the impression he wrote it in 2001. my bad. lol

i usually don't make mistakes like that.

  • Awesome tune! I cannot get enough of this guys voice.

  • Jim Cuddy you are "AWESOME" the greatest, love you, love blue rodeo,(Greg) and you are super song writer, and I loved you in Victoria with Sheryl Crow.

  • He's a canadian country singer. He is solo as Jim Cuddy and is in the Band Blue rodeo.

Look up the Song "Try" by Blue rodeo if you like this one.

  • what genre is this

  • still psychedelic country

  • Lovely song - Thank 'YOU' x

  • I wonder who directed this video, it's incredible.

  • I LOVE this song, the other day I was driving my 98 year old grandpa somewhere and this song was on and he started crying. Later my dad told me that he had told him that it reminded him and grandma that died awhile ago (they were married for 70 some years)

So now everytime i hear this song it makes me even sadder

  • I know, my gradfather (father who raised me)liked this song before he passed away.

    I know your sentiment.

Better late than never LOVE YOU CHARLENE.......

    T.C.B Allan L.2L.T.L.O.O.F.E.A.E.

  • No actually it means, that for us to advance we have to work together!

  • "I'm still tripping over echos left lyong in the hall " that's beautful

  • that's my fave line...well, really they're ALL my fave lines; but, i love the thought of echoes left lying in the hall...and, "Well I miss the way you look at me. The way you wear your hair." and

"Well I see you in the mirror,

and I watch you from a far.

My friends all think I'm crazy..."

most beautiful song I've heard in a long, long time.

but I know the way things are.

  • I heard an interview with Jim Cuddy on CBC radio and he was asked about his inspiration for writing this...inspired by a conversation he had with his Uncle when his wife was dying of cancer. They were at the hospital on one of her last days and Jim's Uncle, an otherwise taciturn man, earnestly said, "I am losing my best friend". Jim thought about what it must be like for those who lose a partner, as they'd been married for over 30 years..Cuddy is a true blessing and a gift to Canadian Music!!

  • I can not agree more, finally someone who appreciates great artists. The info you wrote I never knew, sad as hell. Life, one step at a time.

  • He's not just a gift to Canadian Music but to everyone - I'm sure proud to be from where he's from though...

Thanks for posting the history of the song - I've heard lots of theories but never heard a firsthand account.

    Lyrics = haunting

    Voice = heavenly

    Instrumentation = inspired

    Delivery = sincere

    Singer = sexy

    Overall = heartwrenching, beautiful, classic

this song has joined: Too many hands, bulletproof, and try as my fave Cuddy tunes - but anything he does (with or without the Rodeo) wins.

  • brilliant! This song got us thinking and crying together. Thanks.
