I have exactly the same setup but I am having problems with the picture quality. It is ok on my Samsung BX2450 using a VGA adapter but the new ASUS VE248 has a bad picture using the same setup. Are there some other setting I can look at on the Macbook???
can you hook it up to your laptop with an hdmi cord, if i have a Toshiba laptop can i hook it up with the hdmi cord and would it matter if i dont and just hooked it up with the vga cable thing it comes with (would the graphics matter )
my asus monitor after a month of usage, i've noticed missing pixels in the lower right corner of my screen, does this monitor have the same issue? because i might get it
Thats exactly where I bought mine too. I was a little shocked at the difference between them and Newegg. Though, I wish I could be satisfied right now. It was suppose to be here Friday but UPS fucked up somehow. Tracking indicated an invalid address at around 7pm. I call they read me off the address. It is indeed my actual address so somehow the driver went full retard. Now I wont get it till Monday...
@TheMexicanNerd Hi there great review! Just wondering if i need to buy any separate cables in order to play my Xbox 360 on this? If not how do you connect the two devices? Thanks :)
cool video, do you know how tall it stands from the desk to the bottom bezel and from the bottom bezel to the top,, id really appreciate it, as im setting up a 3rd monitor and i want this one to be the center piece so i kinda want them to line up. thanks man
@rhyleysc00ts actually there's a new tv made especially for the ps3 and is coming out on November 13 ,it's called PlayStation 3D TV and it's 24 inches, 3D and you can also switch to 2D ,fully 1080p hd. 240 Hz,Sony said it's the most advanced 3D tv on the market for gaming, it's gonna be a nice tv but a bit pricy is going for 499.99 you can pre order it at gamestop or at your local best buy. :]
is it worth getting or is there a newer model i should get because this video is quite old, if there is a newer model inbox me what it is and if i hsould get it, ive heard this is a good monitor, please let me know ,
@VoLtrex31 You can get much cheaper versions of this monitor, this is the top spec one when it comes down to contrast ratio and response time. IF cost isn't an issue then get this, but this definitely isn't the cheapest monitor around.
@VoLtrex31 Me? This isn't my video, I was just giving my two cents. This monitor (should be)is great for gaming - PC and console - but if you simply want to upgrade for you home office you are wasting your money. Btw I was going by Amazon's prices, you should check monitors out on there; they're usually the cheapest prices.
@VoLtrex31 Yeah Samsung displays are pretty damn good, I have a 37inch Samsung T.V. that's pretty sweet. The 'Samsung S24A350H' has familiarly specs to this monitor - same size, resolution and response time. It's also cheaper, I'd go with that model. BUT don't buy it in shop, get it off Amazon - they have amazing customer service and usually can't be beats for price. :) hope this helped.
@VoLtrex31 Great to hear, I personally love widescreen displays and can't bear monitors with an aspect ratio of 4:3. I suppose I've always used wide screen monitors so it's just something you'll get used to over time. =]
Excuseme, i used google translator and it used other word. I wanted know what is the frecuenzy in Hz, it can be 60 Hz or 75 Hz. And i'd liked know if in the max resolution (1080) could be 75 Hz. Thank's friend.
Please could you tell me how often you can work on that monitor? I am indecisive and that's the only fact that I would need to get one. Thank you friend.
have you tried gaming on your macbook pro? can you please test team fortress 2 (free on steam) and minecraft .. it's the only games i wanna play. thanks themexicannerd
@xbox360nerd1 No sorry, I don't do much gaming on my MBP. I wish I did because I get a lot of questions about gaming but I mostly game on the xbox or PS3
@kanta90 i just got it 2 weeks ago lol. it's actually the opposite for me minecraft has an average fps on far of like 15-20. tf2 on a 22 player server runs great !
@xbox360nerd1 well that's good glad you enjoy it, I love my macbook pro but I'm planning to build my own comp soon that will destroy minecraft, happy gaming!
This just replaces the Apple Display basically. I'm wanting to purchase this and the new Mac Mini. I have a question though, does this monitor have bluetooth? I want to use both the apple wireless keyboard, and the apple magic mouse.
I just bought the Asus VE249 LED. can't seem to find any reviews on it I guess its pretty new. so far the monitor is amazing. the fact it has different color settings for gaming, movies, night mode, and standard is really cool.
i want to know about the speakers quality. I want this monitor for xbox/ps3 playing but im not an audio nerd. I want to play FIFA, CoD, Battlefield, etc. Are built-in speakers acceptable?
I am getting this one and somebody is building a desk for me right now. He needs to know if the stand of the monitor is high enough already or he needs to put a shelf to lift it.
@Blackluc The top of the monitor is level with my eyes when i'm sitting at my desk. In my opinion that is the best way to have your monitor setup. If you want to have it a little higher then yea, I would recommend a shelf.
@CitronTech That's a pretty good deal. Make sure it's the same model number as the one I have. There are some less expensive models out there that look the same but they're just a smaller screen size. Oh and there is ghosting problems with this monitor. Im uploading a review of the monitor tonight. Check it out tomorrow to see if you still like the monitor.
is the resolution of the macbook pro good enough to make a good resolution on the asus? I'm thinking of buying a 15" because i think the resolution will not be good enough on a larger screen
@mattgellison I'll try to get a review up sometime this week. Really busy. There are only two thing's I dislike about it so far. Do you want me to tell you what they are or would you rather wait for the review?
Don't suppose you can do a video of this monitor up & running & test video games on it, because that would actually be useful for anyone thinking of buying this monitor for a gaming rig.
@SkISl0pE No problem. I just bought a second one so that I can have a dual monitor setup. I just uploaded a video on it if you want to check it out. Thanks for commenting.
@TheMexicanNerd Hey good video, how do you like these monitor? im searching for a new one im switching from an 19" (hp w1907), im also searching reviews for the HP 2511x, oh and one more thing do you think there is a lot of diference between a 23, 24 and 25" monitor?
@OIDJose The hp w1907 is a nice monitor but it would be nice to step up to 1080p resolution. When I bought this monitor the HP 2511x had just barely come out. If I didn't buy this Asus I probably would have gone with that one. I think I went with the Asus because I liked the design a little more plus it was cheaper. I really like the Asus monitor so far. The only problem that I had was that the viewing angle isn't that great. But I barely notice that problem.
@OIDJose I like the Asus monitor so much that I bought myself a second one that I just got in the mail today. I'm going to try to have two external monitors attached to my MBP at the same time. That will be in one of my future video. You can subscribe if you want to check that out... When it comes to 23", 24", or 25" monitors I think you should go to a electronics store and check out the monitor sizes and see that you like. But as long as the resolution is the same there isn't a big difference.
@TheMexicanNerd i see thanks im going to check about size, i had a 10% in newegg for the 2511x but the product is currently deactivated so i´ll check about this one and see. and im subscribe now thanks.
@deadlyzebra123 Yea I plan on getting Amazon Prime soon. It's a good idea since i'm buying things there all the time... I'm going to buy another one of these monitors on friday. That way I'll have a dual monitor setup. I think that a Frys near my house is selling it for the same price as amazon so I'll probably buy it there.
@TheMexicanNerd No problem. I've saved so much throughout the year that I had (well I still have it haha). I roughly saved around $300+ in shipping costs.
@JaBunGa23 The ve248h is 24" and the ve247h is 23.6". But they have the exact same resolution and specs from what I can see. The ve247h is also aroung $20 cheaper... The reason I went with the 24" is because I like the slightly larger size screen.
@amac8487 Thanks! I haven't had any problems with mine. I think it's a great monitor and i'm 100% happy that I purchased it.. If you do order it, let me know what you think of it.
@MainStreetTech I'll make that video in the future when I buy a screencasting program like screenflow to show all the steps I wen't through to calibrate it.... I will make a video soon on how to connect a external monitor to a MacBook Pro though.... And I used DVI instead of HDMI so that the HDMI input on my monitor stays open so that I can connect my Xbox 360 later.... Thanks for all the comments. Reading/answering comments are my favorite part of making videos.
@prostreeter21 Pretty crazy right? At first it was a little sketchy but after calibrating the colors were pretty awesome. For around $200 i'm totally happy.
@dman2495 Thanks man I really appreciate it. The main reason I make videos is because of the cool comments people leave me. So thanks for the comment.
