  • OMG!!!!!!!! Bless you coloraturafan, I had always wondered how Sutherland would have sounded singing R. Strauss and now I know :D:D

  • RIP dame Joan. We will miss you.

  • Wunderbar.

A great document. Thank you so much...

Unfortunately Dame Joan recorded only a few German Lieder like on the album "Romantic trios for soprano, horn and piano" Just imagine singing her Schuberts "Winterreise"

  • that's the beauty of being a dramatic coloratura. you can start out singing lyric soprano and lyric coloratura roles, sing dramatic coloratura roles in your prime, and sing spinto and dramatic soprano roles past your prime. even so, other than dramatic sopranos, sopranos don't tend to have as long of careers as some other types. us baritones and basses can keep singing well into our 70s =)

  • @raigekimaru High notes can be a bitch for women after pregnancy and menopause --- especially soprano high notes. :P

  • this is the rep she should have retired to in her 50s and 60s. too many coloraturas try and sing the same rep for too long in there career

  • Grandissima anche in Strauss! Grazie, Coloraturafan!

  • Wow, that voice in Strauss. What could have been. But, no complaints here. Is this concert available in the U.S.?

  • Amazing to hear her sing so well in her 60's. Richard's piano accompaniment is excellent as usual.

  • Why aren't there more recordings like these??

    Amazing!!!!!

She looks great, and sings like an angel!

    Hail La Stupenda!!!!!
