  • Man, commercials sure were gay back then...

  • @spicychickenwing31 check out a recent rice krispies commercial, just search 'rice krispies cocoa' its the one with snap and crackle on the screen grab

  • Have to think about all the funny Fallout Commercials XD

  • This vid went viral on Central African Republic

  • we do this for a chores warm up

i love it its so much fun to say

  • I love this.

  • unique

  • catchy :)

  • If these commercials came on now, I would really watch them.

  • It's not really from the 50's, more like late 60's. I remember it as a kid, and loved it. I still do. Great jazzy tune and the lyrics are really funny. And Vanhallen5150 is right: if you weren't careful you might get some cereal in your sugar. I can't believe how much sugar I ate back then.... remember Quisp and Quake? Frosted Flakes still tops the list, and when the cereal didn't have a crapload of added sugar, we'd dump a cup or two on it! Oh, and we used half and half, not 2%....

  • @andyweisberg7 Pretty sure you're right on the date, there. By the time I first heard this commercial I already knew the words "polyphony" and "counterpoint" and wasn't sure which it was. Those words came from my music theory class in eighth grade (1967) but I think the ad came out around 1968; quite astonishing of it not to be in color. Maybe whoever recorded it, did it with black and white film.

  • I say it's Crackle, the crispy sound, you gotta have Crackle or the clock's not wound,

Geese cackle, feathers tickle, belts buckle, feet tickle -

But Crackle is the crispy sound.

  • wow...i didnt even spell sugar...smh.

  • holy snap crackle pop

  • very catchy!

  • Uhhh you got a little rice crispies in your sugar.

  • Alimentaire pour culturistes...

  • In my chorus Sapranos sing the Middle Part,

" I say its Crackel the crispy sound gotta have crackel or the clocks not wound, East cackel, Feathers Tickle, Belts buckle, Feet Pickle (?) but Crackel makes the World go round"

    LOL funny right?

  • @DancingMachineK yay! Glad that someone else has to sing this death, but I think that its geese cackle and beets pickle

  • @downtowngoats i think your right . beets pickle sounds more logic that feet pickle! lol

  • Eww, its in 2d O.o

  • I love that commercial! I will have that in my head for a while!

  • Big load of sugar with those rice krispies.

  • I get the distinct impression that this is actually from the 60's, though I could be wrong.

  • I second the idea that it was probably from the 60s. I remember this song from that time period.

  • DIABETES

  • FUCK THAT LOUD ASS CEREAL

  • "Butt snap makes the world go round!"

  • I just had some Honey Comb, Honey Bunches Of Oats (honey roasted), Rice Krispies, and Cocoa Pebbles for b-fast this morning. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

  • Gotta love commercials with jazzy music!

  • I meant "commercial", not "commercoal". Haha.

  • Now, there is Rice Krispies Treats cereal, which is basically the same thing. It's just a marketing trick. Little kids see a "new" Rice Krispies cereal, and they just have to have it.

Has anyone ever realized that Cocoa Krispies and Cocoa Pebbles are pretty much the same?

    Good Commercoal.

  • Easily the best television commercial ever. I seriously can't get enough of this. Thanks for posting!

  • 89 CENT CEREAL BACK IN THE DAY AT MAYFAIR SUPERMARKET..[DONT EXIT NOW]...MILK WOULD MAKE THE SOUND...GOOD CEREAL STILL HERE TODAY

  • SNAP CRACKLE DEATH, WHEEEEW

  • How much sugar was put on them

  • ha all 50's music sounded the same

  • @Bobobranden all "every decade" music sounds the same

  • @marzykjones, oh, i know that, i learned about it last year in my music appreciation class.

  • this is cute. i wish they still put on old commercials.

  • I bet if they played louder, they would break their instruments

  • when they put the strawberries in the cereal..the cereal looked soggy :/ or is it just me?

  • No Snap, Crackle, Pop TV ads predate 1960. Snap, Crackle and Pop's costumes were modified from the original to be less "ethnic" looking. With no explanation I am aware of, Crackle was originally dressed like a Portugese fisherman. Pop's tunic and Shako cap resembled the garb of a 19th Century German student paramilitary corps. Snap dressed as a baker--no mystery there. They first appeared as a threesome in 1939. They were created by Vernon Grant, an illustrator of children's books.

  • pop was my favorite

  • Ya crackle

  • you could very easily turn "snap crackle pop" into a dirty joke, or pick up line.

  • I'm using this as a sample in a song I'm making lol.

  • My 8 yr-old is eating a bowl of Rice Krispies right now so I thought he'd enjoy the commercial I grew up with!

  • how can you animate things like this?

  • you gotta have crack :D

  • ohhh I still know how it taste!!

  • why arnt todays comercials as good as this

  • i Still Think The Old Rice Krispies Commercial Is 10 Timez More Better And Original That Now a Days

  • When the cereal company caught the 'but crackle..." at the end of the commercial, it was realized that Snap, Pop and Crackle were homosexual. They lost their contract for awhile.

  • this is so gonna be a favorite and they should play this commercial on tv these days

  • 70's...

  • @kyopv late 60's....

  • compare this to todays version

    search

singing with the bars season 5

  • that counterpoint at the end is pretty fucking sick.

  • no it's CRACK THAT MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND

  • Pop: "I insist that Pop's the sound/ The best is missed unless Pop's around/ You can't stop hoppin' when the cereal's poppin'/ Pop makes the world go round/ Snap, crackle, pop – Rice Krispies!"

  • "Snap, what a happy sound/ Snap is the happiest sound I found/ You may clap, rap, tap, slap, but Snap makes the world go round/ Snap, crackle, pop – Rice Krispies!"

Crackle: "I say it's Crackle, the crispy sound/ You gotta have Crackle or the clock's not wound/ Geese cackle, feathers tickle, belts buckle, beets pickle, but Crackle makes the world go round/ Snap, crackle, pop – Rice Krispies!"

  • I remember this commercial as well (born in 1956).

  • The old commercials are artwork, each frame was hand drawn and took a lot of time; as compared to this 21st century that does a lot of computer generated looks, that make it perfect, repeatable, and testable that makes reshoots faster.

  • I REMEMBER THIS! I DO I DO! hehehe

  • call me wierd, but i think im the only one who never put sugar in cereal as a kid

  • @atomichead777 believe me, you weren't.

  • @atomichead777 i put suger in my cereal it wakes me up

  • @atomichead777 IN HUMAN HOW COULD U NOT PUT SUGAR IN UR CERIAL!!!!!

  • Rice Krispies Commercial (PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch)

  • Kellogg's Rice Krispies Commercial PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch.

  • The part of PBS Kids this rice krispies commercial is found is PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch because PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch is the only part of PBS Kids that plays TV shows from the 1950, 1960,& 1970.

  • 21 people don't put shit in their cereal

  • Crackle and Pop killed Snap. And Crackle died. Now we just got Pop. And he's an idiot.

  • ....wheres the heavy metal version! 0.0

  • @Pixelbuddy yes hes saying but crackle but youre just hearing it wrong hes saying, but crackle makes the wrodl go round, not "butt" crackle makes the world go round!

  • why is there shit in the cereal??? haha 0:43

  • cute commercial...cute song.

  • why do 1950's family's look so perfect?

  • It's nice that at least part of this wonderful jingle lives on in present day Rice Krispies commercials. This was made in the day when we were still amazed at the art that we could present with animation and the advent of monophonic wavelength transmission to television. Amazing !

  • @dantescratch It's funny; most B&W 50's commercials creep me out. However, I rather enjoyed that 1! They should re-run that commercial today. I bet their sales would soar. Heck; I wanna eat some "Rice Krispies" right now (LOL)!

  • At my drama schl we r learning this and it is sooooooooo cooolio

  • @SamNLizzyBoyNGirl -- My dad wrote this when I was in high school in the 60s and we sang in a variety of classes but sub-rosa... somebody would start, "Snap, what a happy sound..." and pretty soon the whole English class (or whatever) was doing the song in 3 part harmony. It droves the teachers nuts and was great fun.

  • I think Hanna-Barbera may have done the animation for this

  • @looneytoon76 Yes, that's right. HB did the an animation.

  • wow this is so goodddddddddd

  • Splenda makes Rice crispies taste great. With bananas... omg mouthgasm

  • thats a lot of suger 0:26

  • @AkwardEmoBunni HAA HAA i agree its like they poured a whole jug over is.. there called rice bubbles here in australia and funny enough some do have that much sugar on em

  • @AkwardEmoBunni ha ha

  • True, I get very hyper if I have those!

  • @AkwardEmoBunni cuz back then the cereal had no taste

  • Thank you for keeping history alive! Really great...

  • 00:30 Ewww why did they dump a bunch of sugar in the cereal? I like my rice crispies plain, -the way the box intended.

  • yeah, pour a half cup sugar on it :)

  • @jayzypher psh, please. i know! whats up with that?? i pour the other half cup..

  • @photolitherland ricicles have sugar not these..........I think

  • lol, that enough sugar for ya? u don't rlly need sugar on cereal unless it's the most disgusting thing ever.

  • i have never heard rice krispies snap nor pop. they only crackle.

  • Shit did they put enough sugar on them?

  • rice krispies are risky. you have to get the exact right amount of milk. if you put too much they get soggy really fast and if you don't put enough they taste dry

  • NO! Don't rap! Rap is CRAP!

Hey I'm rhyming, just like the commercial!

  • i dnt think i should eat snap crackle pop rice krispies cuz it says CRACK (drug, BAD,EVIL,HI drug)

  • i feel like eating sice krispiers :P

  • they should really put this as the commercial again!

  • ill think ill Pop my shoulder back in place so i can go snap someones neck with the following act of cracking my skull, Just for that snap, crackle, pop that makes the world go round.

  • they should put this back on the air(:

  • ..................

  • this is awesome!!! haha !! waaay better then today's rice krispies commercials!!!!!!

  • i want rice krispies now ! ...

  • Comment removed

  • 0:24 he says

butt crack'll make the world go round

but crack'll make the world go round

    not sure which

also the little "elf" shakes his butt to the camera right at that moment

  • I like Rice Krispies either plain or with bananas. If I want anything sweeter, I buy Cocoa Krispies

  • Very cute!

  • This is unquestionably the best jingle advertising has ever produced. Much love, Rice Krispies, much love

  • I worked for a NYC ad agency and know this ad. It is 1961 or 1962 from my best recollection. Most had not gone to full color until 1964, but the art work is classic. They used to get about $6,000-$8,000 for a 60 second spot...you cannot get a 1 second spot for that nowadays! Thanks for the post!

  • if all commercials were like this i wouldn't mind watching them

  • OHMG, Did he just threaten us? In eating RICE KRISPIES?!?! I'm not eating it anymore....

  • anyone know which one brian jones wrote?

  • @animaniacsrule He was involved with a UK TV ad the Stones did for Rice Krispies before they came here to the States. All of them appear in the ad. You can find it elsewhere on YouTube.

  • Great music for being just a commercial.

  • what does pop put in the ceral at the end?

  • The voice of Snap is Elmer "Len" Dresslar Jr., better known as the voice of the Jolly Green Giant (the Ho Ho Ho's, anyway). Not sure who did the other two voices.

  • @elc1960

Don Shelton was the voice of "Crackle". He was a member of the Hi-Lo's from the late 50's to early 60's. Don was a Chicago-based singer and multi-reed instrumentalist, now living in Southern California. He sang on hundreds (maybe thousands) of famous jingles in the 60's,70's 80's. He is a friend of mine, and the last time I worked with him in the studio he told me who Pop (Len Dressler) and Snap were, but I've forgotten who Snap was.

  • @Kujalamuse Thanks for the info! Neat that you worked with him. Bet he has lots of great stories from those days. I'm familiar with the Hi-Los, but never knew any of their names. Thanks again!

  • Very cool. and unlike many modern commercials, it's entertaining without being annoyingly cheesy! :)

  • erect with pleasure

  • i masterbate to this commercial... crackle is soooooo hawt

  • Love it. Classic.

  • Give him a Break!

  • They put Sugar back then!

  • I Wish Animations Were Still Like This D: Drawn By Hand...

  • @TheDarkLatias950 REALLY?1?1 i didnt know that...i alwase wonderd how they did that and made it look like that

  • stop singing now

  • Black and white seems so boring no wonder older people hate TV! LOL jk!

  • commercials these days for cereal, there so fast and u cant understand them, this ones a minute long!

  • Damn, Snap is one fly dude.

  • Now they said like little tweakers

  • So catchy! I love it!!!!!

  • @ 0:26, I swear he's saying "Butt-crack"-le. LOL

  • @Pixelbuddy He actually says "But, crackle makes the world go round." But i see what you did there.

  • @Pixelbuddy LOL i know right

  • @Pixelbuddy What's funny is that he actually is, or almost is. He sings a bunch of words and then finishes with "but crackle makes the world go round".

  • @Pixelbuddy I heard that too! :O :D

  • oh my god, this pretty much just made my life

  • this is one of the most genius commercial i have ever seen...whoever made that rice krispies karaoke is a mental case

  • Snap, Crackle, Pop makes the world go around. Love how catchy the song is.

  • hey that was catchy.

  • I used to think that commercials were nice, though brief, escapes from drama (if that's what the ad interrupted). But these days, most commercials are irritating and strung along 4-5 together at once, causing me to givemy TV some drama..

  • Ah, you young whipper-snappers. I grew up with this commercial in the early '60s. In those days this level of animation was brand new. The jingle shows how pervasive to the American culture small-group jazz combos had become. This is really an artful work, but they went downhill from here (ex. the classic "Let Hertz put You in the Driver's Seat" ad with a guy dropping down from the sky into the car. That was overplayed and has scarred me forever!

  • they should re-air this.

  • Who wrote this? That's one hell of a sophisticated piece of music for a cereal commercial. I had no idea that Snap, Crackle and Pop once did a fugue.

  • @cfortunato58 Not sure on the writer's name, but the spot was created by the Leo Burnett agency. They gave us many of our best known TV ads throughout the past 60 years, including this one and the Jolly Green Giant, Charlie the Tuna (Star-Kist), and many others far too numerous to mention.

  • of course, with the French-looking hat, Crackle would nowadays be considered an Al-Quaeda sympathizer by Cheyney and Rove!!

  • what has he put in the bowl at 0:41 ? looks like meatballs haha.. or fruit??

  • @GraceTheCheez Not too clear, but I am pretty sure those are strawberries.

  • Hahaha, I remember singing this at Girl Scout camp...didn't know it was from an ad. Awesome. Poor Hubby, I'm going to drive him nuts tomorrow because it is now stuck in my head. >:)

  • @punkyrubberducky4 hey, if you do it loud enough, maybe you'll finally get him to do the yardwork that's he's been putting off!!!!

  • haha... butt crackle.

  • Healings been a slow process for me,many doctors over the past 5 years, but getting better. Now I have a chiropractor working with me to get healthier. In the process, I now sanp, crackle,& pop. As a child I remember seeing & hearing this commercial. It's my new healing mantra.

  • Geez, these days we eat organic sprouts for breakfast.

  • commercials arnt the original anymore. but omg i love how they poured sugar on the cereal!

  • @leesathepunkin this ad was made back in the good ol' days when cereal manufacturers actually boasted about the amount of sugar in their products!!!.....

  • HAAA!!! At 0:25 - 'Butt-crackle'!

  • i made a snap crackle pop grup with my 2 friends. im crackle couze i got blond hair. oh and did i metion we r GIRLZ?!?!?!?!

  • but crack-le makes the world go round LOL

  • LOL , i had to sing to it,

  • so cute :)

  • I had to sing this is in music class last year. gees, you should try it!

  • i wonder if the taste has changed since then!!

  • Who composed this song anyway?

  • My friend amie.

  • bravo wish they still made them like this

  • awsome.

  • can someone give me the lyrics
