I was very depressing in the past few years, and only now that I want to talk about it. Haven't gone to Hmong New year in 7 years. Whenever my family went, I'll just stay in bed, weeping home alone, and I was 14 then. A Youduo (or A You Duo) is NOT Hmong. She is Hmu, one of the several groups that make up the Miao nationality in China (Hmong is also one of these groups). She sings in both Mandarin and the Hmu dialect of Miao (which shares some White and Green Hmong words but is NOT entirely the Hmong language).
So, when you say you can understand her, you can only the parts which consists of the Hmong words.

A Youduo (or A You Duo) is NOT Hmong. She is Hmu, one of the several groups that make up the Miao nationality in China (Hmong is also one of these groups). She sings in both Mandarin and the Hmu dialect of Miao (which shares some White and Green Hmong words but is NOT entirely the Hmong language).
So, when you say you can understand her, you can only the parts which consists of the Hmong words.

Well the word miao is just mandarin language (pekin language). Pronoumce it quickly as mee-a-o. Meow looks more like laotian, thai or vietnamese language. If you are not chinese, vietnamese, thai or laotian you'd better say Hmong.

The number one Hmong/Miao singer is Song ZuYing. She was also the singer that came to the US with Ayouduo in October. Ayouduo is more enjoyed by the new generations because her music are mixed with pop, while Song ZuYing's songs are traditional and more of the opera kind.

Is she really singing "peb yog hmoob Es" in the beginning? Because in order to say "hmoob" you have to make the 'm' with your mouth, BUT if you look at her mouth when she says "hmoob", her mouth says an 'n' instead of an 'm'. So I think you're wrong. Also, it sounds like she's saying "nong" instead of "hmong".
