This is just the Nth proof that We the People must take responsibility too and demand that power is placed where it belongs. I called for the same need of reform for the incidents at the pacific protests of Occupy Wall St. for the Terahertz scanners, and more. US citizens elect public officials like the President why should be any different for a police chief? No public official should be appointed. Time for a reform of a system that too often doesn't work, fosters unconstitutional behavior and unaccountability. Public officials should be accountable to the people and as we elect them, we should be able take away the authority they abused or misused. That should go for all public officials and no impeachment should be necessary, a referendum will do!

When this level of unaccountability and injustice is reached, it's time to call for a reform that will return authority and responsibility to where it belongs: We The People. We must call for a reform at city & state levels so people can call for referendums (see wiki: Referendum), allowing to vote on removing public officials whose conduct is no longer supported by the majority of people, instead of allowing the mayor to trump people's will. How much more should we wait to demand such reform?
