Did you have to go up from your original pant size to carry your pistol because I'm looking at the crossbreed IWB holsters but I don't wanna have to alter my style of dress and wear baggy clothes.
Don't know about your state, but here in Michigan you don't have to worry about it too much...yeah it freaks people out but it's not like some states were that's brandishing. SOOOO that sort of concern, while still is a problem and hassle, isn't too much of an issue for me.
This has to be one of the better videos regarding IWB holsters on Youtube. It gives an everyday perspective of the problems one might experience with it, and although it does not provide solutions it at least gets the thought processes working toward a solution.
ok, so you have a problem with the iwb holster and glock. is the problem the holster or the glock? do you only find problems with things? do you have any valuable solutions? i've watched 2 of your videos. won't be watching anymore. i sure don't see you providing any solutions. atleast that's my take on it.
I love my glocks. I also own a 27 and a 23. Both are very great guns. But they are not ideal for CC due to the "box" like design. I often carry my 23 in a fobus under my coat in the winter when its easy to conceal. The 27 was intended for summer carry, but I might be trading it for a kel tec PF9. The kel tec appears ideal for summer carry.
I don't have half the problems this guy does, then again I'm carrying a Colt 1911 - lower profile. My least favorite thing about glocks is how fat/boxy they are
I tried for many yrs to carry a double stack gun, both a Glock or an XD. Just to big and heavy for all day concealed carry imo. I now carry a single stack 9mm Keltec PF-9 its like a dream. I can carry all day and forget I have it. Whatever gun you choose single stack work best for me and Ive been carrying for 10 yrs. Good Video
you just need to lean how to conceal your glock better ! i been carry one for years and i ain't no little person . i'm 6'2 260 and i was carrying a g 22 and no one couldn't see it , i carryed it on my right hip iwb
I have a glock 27 and with the +1 extension mag and it does not even come close to sticking out like that. In this video, it is beyond obvious that you're carrying, even when you did the 360. You might need a better holster because the holster I have, I can wear fitting shirts with fitting pants and my glock will still be concealed and not bulking out or draw attention to waist. So you might need a different holster that won't ride your glock so high.
@SeedyNotions What's so good about open carry? I'm actually glad my state doesn't have that. It would be like the wild wild west out here, free lance police officers everywhere; the last thing we need.
@brized You apparently have no idea where I live in the States. We're not some friendly state that welcomes the new neighbors with a pound cake and jello. Every man for himself where I come from and believe me, self defense is a huge answer in a lot of the crimes. As it turns out, the "victims" turns into the suspects because they "defended" themselves to a greater extent than needed...Think if open carry was allowed...HA! NEVER!
Great review. I think all of us who live in hot climates face this problem. I carry a Taurus PT709. I find the only way I can really conceal it with just a t-shirt is in a soft IWB holster in the front at about 1 O'clock. The PT709 is a true compact, so I sits there reasonably comfortably even when sitting. But I thinking about trying a Smart Carry.
i got the exact same holster w/ my G26 & carry mine @ 3'o clock. Might sound crazy, but adjusted & screwed the clips higher so it drops lower into my pants.
its still easily accessible from a concealed position & hides WAY better than having it at a 4:30 position (for me) & thats with a +1 pinky extention. i sit @ work for almost 12 hours a day and i barely notice its there.
try adjusting the holster clips to a higher position (lowering the holster just an inch under your waistline).
@MrMeatballs1945 For a lot of pistols, yes, IWB can be horrible. But even in regular-fitting jeans and an XL T-shirt (I'm more of an L size), I can IWB carry my Kel-Tec P11 at appendix or at 4 o'clock and it's darn near invisible, yet still quite comfortable ... and being a P11 (9mm), I don't have to settle for a mediocre round like .380 ACP, either. A Glock 26 would be similar, but they're thicker and, thus, not as easily worn IWB.
Good video man, I went through same stuff when trying to find the right fit. I used to carry a Glock 19 wannabe compact. Needless to say I got rid of that piece. Just way to bulky. My PPK was great, but good luck finding ammo. After many different guns, i found the Taurus 709 slim. I live in a hot climate and wear shorts all the time, and the slim has very minimal imprint and I carry it in the same area you do. So, you may want to give it a shot. It breaks down just like the Glock.
@saywhatfo thanks for sharing your experiences, yeah the word "compact" is used TOO often among gun manufacturers for guns that are clearly not compact at all (more like mid-sized). I'll take your word on the Taurus, there's no better testing ground for concealed carry other than hot humid climates...it really shows right away what's practical and what's not
@Qasarean I like to set my holsters while driving or sitting for long period's of time in the Cross Draw position. I find this more comfortable, when lugging around, a Glock 21 or an SA XD40 service model pistol.? From the CD position it is a quick draw, while in a car or sitting in a restaurant etc.?
Thanks for the video, I am just getting into the CC and this has pointed out some things I may not have noticed otherwise. For now the G23 will be carried when I am wearing more clothes like fall and winter, and I am looking at getting something along the lines of a Kel-tec p3AT for when I am wearing summer clothes or less layers. According to where I am going though sometimes I will just open carry, when most people see a Glock in the open they immediately think COP and pay you no attention.
thanks for the video. I can see your concerns with printing. I have the same holster but I have a S&W 637 .38. It is very much undetectable although I'm not concerned whether someone knows I'm packing. The more "cant" on the holster, the better concealment . I like my crossbread and 637 combo very much.
@ubervic1 well said! If I can only have 1 gun for CC in all situations (hot summer day, walking on the beach, so on), that would be my Ruger LCP b/c it's the most concealable. there are guys on YouTube who say something like a full size 1911 is the only way to go, but they're in the middle of nowhere and the climate is colder. Thanks for your comments!
@ubervic1 cc is a restricting lifestyle. sacrifices have to be made in the name of personal protection. there are things that one must do & pay attention to that most ppl may never think about. i.e. when i walk into a room, i position my gun against the wall to reduce the chances of it being noticed or taken away, worst case scenario. i squat down instead of bend over. small things like that can really impact the ease of everyday life, & you feel that everyone knows your secret. thanks
Switch to full cant. Wear long shirts. Opt for dark colors or dark patterns. Multiple layers or thicker fabrics help. Use a gun belt. Moving the holster an inch or two to the left or right can make a world of difference too.
@diggingforgold problem is I can't always wear long shirts in dark colors in multiple layers in every environment (baggy clothes look sloppy too). I have a Desantis gun belt and it does hold the gun a bit better but that's about it. Full cant actually prints more of the gun for me because most of the gun isn't below the belt line but if you sit when most of the gun is below the belt line, the gun points out at an awkward angle, catch 22 situation, still trying to find that sweet spot!
thanks for the reality aspect of the video. you actually help me make a decision between the 23 and 27. Being that im in florida its practically summer all the time. I'll definitely be sporting the 27 with the pants up. thanks once again.
@Ken954 thanks bud, if my videos help 1 person then it's all worth it. Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot. If you're in FL and don't mind going down to a .380 caliber pistol, the Ruger LCP is great for hot weather carry. I'll be doing a video on it in the future (the LCP) as well as another IWB carry video (small of back position).
Nice Vid again Bro..and very relevant to me as i have a g23 and 26 as well as the lg417 ct laser grip (newer version which activates from the front and is less bulky on the weapon)..just a tip some close ups would help for future reference...keep up the good work!!
@Glockizzle thanks man, I'll keep that in mind for future vids, also my camera isn't meant for videos (it's a Sony Cybershot) but it does have a video feature. When I get the new iPhone 4 I'll test it out and see I can get nicer recordings (it has HD)
