  • Being left handed I had problems playing piano and keyboard. The fingers of my right hand were really slow in comparison to the left hand's. JR's techniques kinda cured me :D

  • his both hands have minds of their own!

  • " My biggest trouble musically is that sometimes I play too fast, like when I'm excited."

Haha problems of the ridiculously talented.

  • @TSharr626 I'm not that good at piano, but I have the same problem.

  • @chiborib0 Lol it was a joke, bro.

  • I think that those exercises are from one book of Cherny finger exercises thats the name i think... :D:D So rudess got some classic music influences...thats awesome combining classic with new music you create something powerfull like dream theater's music...

  • @XJohnTheNightrager Actually, Rudess played classical music for 11 years (ages 7 to 18) before he picked up the synthesizers.

  • i couldnt even play the fucking warm up

  • @ndgambella Ha Ha good one, try playing it after a few beers. It might be still fucked but it makes you feel better, it works for me

  • This guy has an old soul and the way he talks shows us that.

  • Practicing...

  • Everything look so easy on his hands...

  • Korg TM40 FTW

  • two armless people saw this

  • He's my guru

  • I want you to be my teacher I was very mad at you people of Thailand, I end as I approach you have. Cheer me with

  • Great lesson!

He seems like a down to earth cool guy too!

  • the best

  • He developed this technique because he is playing keybords most of the time.... most of the sounds won't be performed right if the wrist is involved, 'cause you'll tire your entire body if doing so for 5 mins..... he usually does play for about 2-3 hrs in a concert... ah! i'm a keyboardist myself (1,000,000,000 Kms behind Rudess!!!)

  • @rizz7604

lol you're just making an idiot of yourself buddy, no one tells Jordan Rudess how to play the Piano.

  • Ah, but nowhere in there did I actually tell him how to play piano! I'm just saying his is an approach that works for him and probably only him. Anyone else trying to play with "only their fingers" would probably not only not be nearly as good, but would suffer massive playing injuries as well, something which JR seems to be immune to!

  • By the way, my apologies if you thought I was dissing him...obviously he's a massively talented player, it's just that his playing technique is very anti-traditional, that's all.

  • @rizz7604 I know u write your comment 5 months ago, but I knew that someone was going to say something about how he move his fingers or dont use the wrist or etc. when I watched this video. If u watch his other videos he explains all that u´re looking in the "traditional way". And I need to tell u that Jordan studied at JULLIARD and he plays in a little band called DREAM THEATER.

  • @StreamOfMetal I'm aware. The technique seems to work well for him...probably not for most other people though.

  • @StreamOfMetal you said he palys in a "little band" well.. let me tell you... Dream Theater is a super band!!! is one of the best prog-rock bands!!! all the musicians there are "virtusos" they´re awesome... Juilliard is one of the best musical schools ever!

  • @luisfgalvez That was sarcasm fool.

  • one of the greatest pianist's of this generation

  • Jordan you rock!

  • moar plz

  • He keeps saying "kind of like that" and I keep thinking "yeah but just kind of..."

  • I need him as my teacher

  • @Unholybarrelmaker

The Jordan Rudess Online Conservatory. That is all.

  • @Niekpas1 Going to check this out right now. Thanks bro.

  • cool!

  • Yeah :) He's awesome

  • Jordan is amazingly accurate and he teaches things in an easy to understand manner :)

  • Jordan and JP are the best in DT

  • no...all of them are fukin legends !!

  • @Merczid I agree. I watch alot of his videos to help my technique.
