@wellwellwellall if you understood Greek as well, you would know that these are called "Hymns of Ascent" or anavathmi. it typically culminates at the end with the reading of the orthros Gospel, but you might note that the words in the beginning of the hymn are generally "pained" and concern troubling matters, and continues to end on meditations of the mystery of the Godhead. from "mundane" -> "supra-mundane". this is how the psalms themselves are also structured. it's quite beautiful.

@wellwellwellall i.e. one might look at these kind of hymns as a spectrum or the evolution of human emotion in its encounter with the Divine.
