Talking with Nokia N78 and N96 designers - Part 1

I bougth the N78 right after it went to market in mid 2008. I'm still using it. Mainly because of it's great featureset that has not yet been superseeded by any 500€+ Phone. It's not reliable on the outside. The Battery cover is not robust at all and lost it's litle lock clip right after one or two years of daily use. And the materials wore out very quickly because I guess it was designed for the typical 2 year lifecycle. But the software is great, stable, quick and feature rich.

yap the best design but BUT you should think or test the product on outside on the sun you will see or you will not seee the keypad characters and about the keypad is a big phone what in the world have stop you to do the keypads more big. In rest is OK but the keypad you lose.

n78 is really the best design i ve seen so far. the new standard design of nokias future handys is great like n96, nokia 5800, n85.

shiny plastic surface is a pain,nokia 6210/ericsson t28s=great plastic!why this change?look at old-fashioned design in nokia n82, and the e51,e71(the back cover reminds me of the 70s)too many useless keys(e51),despite complaints good nokia design: nokia 8800(old one)nokia 8600,e51,e71,e90,n78, not bad: n82(only in black),6300(although too much metal is not convenient),n95(both versions)and n81,n85,n96 look all the same - boring and the toy n79 looks worse than n78

I wish I could give these people a piece of my mind! I was so disapointed with the design quality of my n81-8gb, which is basically the same design of these phones!

if a software engineer designed a phone i think it won't look so good as to the technology in it. It will act better than it looks.
