@GDSasquatch No it leaves an indent in the primer of the live round. i took it apart and cleaned some surface corrosion off the side of the hammer. It works fine now. Just needed cleaned.
A .45 Long Colt out of a 20" barrel is going something like 1600 fps--it's a lot like a .454 Cassull. I agree, these lever actions would be great all-around defense/SHTF guns. For home defense, one loaded in a pistol caliber (there are a lot in .357 mag) would be very potent, have light recoil, and would hold a lot of rounds.
@SillyMonkey123 ya I've been shooting for a long time and i did use trigger control and gun was always pointed down range. In fact if you watch it I kept my finger off until I aimed the gun after cocking it. I thought I out when i was shooting that way i ejected the case. My brother made a mistake in ejecting it but that's for the arm chair advice. I've been shooting my whole life bunt need advice for a random internet personality.
@Gungeek I want a .45 long colt Winchester bad but there are a few guns in line in-front of it so it might be a while. My brother has a .41 long colt but ammo is impossible to find for it.
@coffeefish no i think It just needed cleaned. I oiled it and took it out today and it preformed fine. There might have been surface rust on the sides hammer that prevented it from hitting as hard as it should.
you guys are short stroking the lever. its firing on an empty case.

Some advice if you are going to keep on shooting.
1) Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on your target.
2) If you have a hang fire; hold tight, target in your sights, count to 10. Never eject a hangfire right away!

Must be the cold weather causing the misfires.
