I loved that show. Wonderful memories. Saturday nights were great on WGN. First there was Mike Rapchak's "When Music Was Music", and then much later, "Great Music from Chicago" which ran practically all night.
My sister was also a big Jay Andres fan. She called his WGN request line one night and told him "You have a sexy voice!" Jay replied in his smoky baritone "Oh...you're turning me on." (One hopes he remembered to hit the mute button first.)
Thanks for posting this--Jay was definitely one of the all time great radio voices. I remember many nights listening to WGN's Great Music From Chicago on my car radio while driving home from a band gig at 2:00 AM.
Do you happen to know what the opening theme music was?

Couldn't agree more! The theme music for Great Music from Chicago was Percy Faith's Bouquet.
