Well that was a strange episode. I personally found the Star Blazers version more entertaining. Even the final words of Desslok are more interesting than Desslar's!:

@dezzlok I like the element of respect a lot more than the contempt in the English version. But I guess it is a matter of taste :) Obviously the English version worked well in the US since we have people who watched it watching this version :)

Dessler is certainly a decent guy as far as villians go. Watch the last five or ten episodes of Yamato 2 and you'll see what I'm talking about.
