As much as I love trolling fanboys I have to say this, the mac is slightly over priced (you are paying for a screen worth 1000$), and you can't upgrade anything. I am getting one myself and it actully stod between a custom built and this. But personally I am into photshop and I needed a good screen, so I went for iMac. But some might go for a gamming rig

I can honestly say that you have defeated me, in a way, with that statement. Though, with a Mac, there comes one great shortcoming to gamers; hardware customization. A Mac is high-end, I will give you that, but very expensive. And, in the future, when software demands higher-end hardware, you'll have to buy a completely new one.

And, no, I do own a Mac, a 27" with a Core i7 and 4850, and I do say it's a good machine, but compared to the price/performance with gaming, a PC defeats it completely.

By the way, I ran out of space on the other comment, and I needed to mention, gaming is my primary use for my computer(s). And, when it comes to gaming, a PC can crush a Mac with the same amount of money spent on one.

Though, admittedly, a Mac is a much better multimedia computer, but my main concern is the price. Mine was well within the 2,000 dollar range, and I'm not that pleased with it, price wise- and, yes, I am planning on selling it, or giving it to a friend.

If you mentioned the fact that your primary computing need was gaming, then I might have understood your argument a bit better. I agree with you on the points you have made relating to price and gaming; a PC can beat a Mac in that department, mostly because Apple aren't wanting to beat it.

Think of it this way; your Mac holds value significantly better than your PC; I'm sure you could make a nice bit of money in a few years when it is time for a replacement.

It holds it's value because it's built to last and be replaced before it's value/performance declines, and probably longer than that. A PC is meant to be upgraded year or so, and thus cannot hold it's value, but it goes in sync with the newest technology coming out, which also arises, again, the positive of customization.

Though I will give you this: a Mac is meant to be good or great at everything a computer can do. A PC is specific at things depending on the one you want. And I'm out of space.

You'd be hardpressed to find a computer system with a WQXGA resolution monitor, Lynnfiield 860 processor, radeon 4600 series gpu and 4 gigs of ddr3 memory for under 2000.

I didn't even include computer fans, keyboard, mouse, power supply, speakers, motherboard and wifi card.

Apple does make price competitive computers believe it or not, the only difference is their updates are few and far between.

Only if you use a monitor with lower resolution. The screen on the new iMac is the real reason why it's price competitive. Current screens at that resolution are around 1000 usd. Add a 200 usd lynnfield 860, 200 usd worth of ram and so on, and any custom built PC with the same specs will be about same price as these new iMacs.

Of course the monitor I wold get is a 100$ 21.5in monitor and regular mouse an keyboard but hey it is cheaper when was the last time you built a computer? like actually found all the parts yourself and didnt just get the most expensive parts to try to "prove" it was more expensive.

You can google it yourself. 1920x1080 monitors are around $400, while the much higher 2560x1600 resolution monitors are around $1000.
