I noticed how most people can't jump serve here, and talk bout their JV teams... I didn't even make JV, and i can jump serve O__O says lots bout my school
I'm on Jv volleyball team and I'm better at over hand than under. My coach is teaching me to jumo serve & it's so hard, one time im too late to hit the ball and the other time im too early ;[ But this video is kinda helping me....I can't wait to be on varsity next year (:
@YyJoBb 5.10 is fine for women, a little short for men, but it only matters a lot at the top college and pro levels. Outside of those select areas its hardly critical. Not much you can do to change your height anyways. Instead focus on your jumping. Lunges, Plyos, etc. Being able to jump high is critical. I play with a couple 5.9/5.10 men but they have 30 plus inch verticals so they can still compete.
I have a question, for a jump serve, do you HAVE to throw it high up in the air? Can it be a low throw? Approximately when u reach your arm up in the air, and then a bit higher then that because wen i jump serve, I can only get it over with a low throw. If i do a high throw, the ball never ends up landing where i want it to or I can never hit it.
well by far a deep float is the hardest serve to return so you dont have to worry about topspin jumps or jump floats...just know how to do them so when you are murdering a team and want to throw one in you can do it with out making a fool of your self and serving it under the net
this is sssoo koool me and mi cuosin have to jump serve in middle skool and im in the 6 and shes in the 8 and we have to jump serve so this video was really helpful thannkyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear you; when my coach trains me in serve/spike recieving, it often looks as if it'll hit my platform on the tapeline, but instead it hits the side of my platform and goes out for an ace.
@rockstarfame101 try doing a mini stroll into the serve. just keep practicing that & do push ups, plank walks, & shoulder workouts everyday.
i used to not be able to serve, but now that i did all that, i can! it's been a year since you commented that, but for anyone else, try it out! good luck, guys.
iono if i can do any serve i dont play volleyball i only play it when its time for a unit in p.e. and right now we re doing volleyball kinda fun might try out for volleyball my gym teacher is the coach lol but iono the rules the job of the positions its kinda confusing can some1 please im me i need help understanding the fundamentals of volleyball cuz i wanna try out next year
she forgot to mention that she has to spin the ball with her fingertips as she tosses it up in the air. Also, i dont think she tosses it 20 feet in the air. that is ridiculously high. i'd say 10ft.
Thanx for posting I'm just learning how to jump serve. I'm 14 and it's my first time playing on a team. In fact i just just go the regular serving down.
float serves are the harder ones to pass coz they move when they come over the net rather than the top spin which just comes over faster. still a good vid =] the second girl has a good serve
thankz for the basic.........i'm a volleyball player and i'm always lookin for different wayz to put more pressure on the oposin side.....nice vid.....those 2 gurls lookin good to......lol....thankz once again
The steps required for a jump-serve are the same steps that are preformed when spiking. For right-handed people it's Left->Right->Left. The only difference is that the steps are a little bit closer to each other to gain some extra height and not as much thrust forward.
I practise the proper steps, but i can make it without using the ball. I just can't spike the ball making good steps, because i watch them. So the video "How to make the right steps to spike" could be very helpful for me. I'm looking for some excersises how can I stop making bad steps.
Sorry about my english, but hope You understand everything! ;)
