  • hi there, where's the Viennese clip?

  • who are you, what have you been studying ?

  • I would like to say, as a Christian, that this is perfect dialouge. There are many nice people in the world that help people every day and are sincerely good in their heart. For me, when I help someone, I am doing it for the Lord my Savior not to appease myself with worldly affirmation. You are a special person, good deeds are commendable by those around you. This old man was genuianly concerned with you. But just because I member a church, doesn't get me to heaven, just as good deeds do not.

  • I love your graceful way of skirting around religious issues.

  • Ha, I'll take the skirting around as a compliment, thanks! Have you heard about Bill Mahers movie Religulous that's coming out soon? I'm sure he's not skirting around at all... looking forward to watching it!

  • I haven't heard about it, but I like Bill Mahers, so I'll have to take it in.

  • the guy doesn't know nothin' about your soul. that's the great tragedy of organized religion - trying to reduce people's souls to specific things that they do and believe.

  • Maybe when your friend's father commented on your nice character and atheism he meant something like "You are a very nice person without the support of a belief system and that makes it even more special." So even if you find his approach limited and a little condescending, he gave you a high compliment. Just a possibility; I wasn't there. Subscribed.

  • Thanks for commenting and for subscribing!

I understood it that way too: as a compliment - but still, I'd have loved to talk about it with him ;)

Off to check out your channel...

  • This is why I love You Tube-these personal insights and stories etc are great-I'm already a fan of yours!

I work with several religious people and have those kind of chats a lot. The funny thing is, there is more arguments between the different christian "flavours" of religion where I work than with anyone else - I wish they could just get the story right at-least amongst themselves lol. But maybe that's refelction on society in general - at least over here anyway. Great video-enjoyed it a lot.

  • you are a wonderfully enchanting person. you have clear and articulate thoughts. a real pleasure...

  • thanks for your video. I do believe...b/c I believe we have reason to believe. Cheers.

  • My friend's girlfriend is from Germany - I love you girls from Greater Europe!

And wilco are top shelf too!

    Christoph

  • Nice

  • Well, that was thoroughly delightful from start to finish. Glad that my video in any way influenced your family storytelling. The gender-shaping-activities start early and never stop, do they?

I, too, really enjoy Ira Glass's show. I haven't yet heard the Lessons Learned show, but I'll listen to it tomorrow.

  • Well, you have to, really! I find it always very moving... because of it's honesty, I guess. It's just like YouTube- what interests me most are the personal stories, or simply the emotions- that makes me think of "Mercerism" and the "empathy box" in Philip K. Dicks novel that later became Blade Runner... YouTube is our empathy box! Only the stones and the Sisyphos-hill are missing ;-)

Thanks for your comment, take care, Regina

  • I never read Electric Sheep, but have seen the movie, of course. Just looked up the "empathy box" and chuckled at your Sisyphus reference.

  • Hi Regina :o) Why don't you join us in Berlin? You can stay at my place (in Potsdam) if you like.

    - Regina

  • That is so nice of you! Well, I am still thinking about it- the airplane is rather expensive but I hate taking the bus... anyway I really want to come- so I'll figure out the best way! I am so excited to meet you guys-I will keep you informed!

    Have a great week, Regina

  • That would be awesome! As soon as you decided if you are coming, please send me a note.

I'll send you my email address.

  • This American Life is a good show! Did I hear a tea kettle in the back-ground? :) Very thoughtful Vlog!

  • Good to see you back again. Your command of English always impresses me.

I now know who to contact if i need any cupboards put together :)

    LG Regina

  • Great to see you again.

  • Thanks!

But how about you? I am still waiting for your first video!!!

    Have a nice week, Regina

  • nice
