Isn't Hwy 59 one of the first major freeway built in Houston, I'm from Europe drove on the Autobahn many times but I love 59 been driving Hwy 59 for over 25 years I have seen many changes I remember 59South after Bissonet it was only two lanes there was no Beltway *, I LOVE H-Town
@rolandodavinci if you search US-59 Southwest freeway on youtube, I have a never version which is explained down to everything that you really need to know about the route. i will also post a video response to this video in just a minute.
HI. I AM FROM IRAQ I NEVER SAW USA...I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW AMERICAN COULD BUILD THIS ROAD AND HOW MANY MONTHS THEY SPENT TO BUILD IT AND HOW MUCH DID IT COST..WOOOW..AMAZING.
Man, talk about hitting close to home - I live in the immediate vicinity of the end of this video, in Sugar Land. As this video shows, most of the drivers around here have no idea what a turn signal or side-view is used for - notice all the skid marks along this freeway? 59 really clogs up at every major intersection (I-610, I-10, TX 288, Beltway 8), so even though this is the most direct route for me to the "big" airport (IAH), I'd rather take the tollway around town - less nerve wracking!
@ChrisK529 you know why it clogs up . it is the 2nd busiest overall per mileage freeway in texas .. i-45 in houston is the first overall busiest per mile..
@willubhave just waiting to finally refilm and push the limits of this video way beyond the beltways .i will film when the 5 stack at east tex is finished
I hate getting stuck on US 59, especially when your on the far left side of the many lanes. Its a pain to get through the traffic to get to the exit on the far right.
@phanggrl ya . i feel ya on that ... if you study it and determine which lane is continious . in fact its the 2nd most outer . you can ride in that lane throughout the city.
@PowderBlue3 US-59 SW is one of the busiest .. prior 2008 it was all about the 59 sw being the busiest in the state , however i-45 north freeway currently holds the title , from downtown to i-610 holds a complete 370k aadt . with mile per mile not dropping below 260 in conroe texas , making it the busiest stretch and the busiest section in the state
@aswchris they say there is only 2 suspension bridges in texas . i say they take another look at that number 6 in houston . 1 in bridgecity , and 1 in baytown/laporte
Jesus Christ, the number of ramps to count in this video aren't just in the tens, but literally the hundreds. I stopped trying to keep track after the 3rd minute or so.
I drove this freeway a few times this summer; definitely something you would see in Orange County!
@willubhave i got h town on lock . aint ne1 gonna ever touch the work that i have done with it .. seriously 5 night vids . and almost every freeway section in town , not to mention a few sections covered in both directions , .. we gonna close up houston freeways with a big bang here very soon , then im gonna move to some spefific roadways , mini freeways
great vid! 3:30 to 5:00 is my favorite stretch of freeway in Houston. I think that is the way a freeway should be. Elevated of sunken with no frontage roads, strip malls, and car dealerships.
@Bryant5493 i cant think of any freeway that ive seen that is this massive mile per mile .. its a little bumpy dont kid your self . but a mustang . and that i have my tripod solid as a rock . as well as upper stabilazion near the camera helps a ton
@ScrewdUPClickV2 That's right. Katy fwy has some sections where it just obliterates any other freeway known to man in terms of lane count, but the thing about US-59 is that it's consistently HUGE for an obscenely long extension. And since it's not divided into HOV and nonHOV lanes it looks and feels wider than Katy fwy.
@VPovver br creative .. i mean if u have the money go out and buy a tripod .. if not u can always do wat i did when i started .. just secure it somehow to the dash .. lol tape it
