  • I did think the Bodocks were beautiful in a way actually. I liked how they were presented. Fantastic. "Those with evil in their hearts all have one thing in common. They always expect you to run." Great character and series.

  • Anton Yelchin is Oddie, and I think he can pull it off.

  • this was a great web series i wish it was longer like had the other books in it too that would be sweet

  • J. Gordon-Levitt's the only "known" actor I can think of who might be able to pull Odd Thomas off. But that's maybe 'cause he's really only played Odd-Thomas-y characters before.

  • It's Boo!

  • Ya know, i as kinda expecting Odd too be a little thinner and paler. but thats just cause of he graphic novel. still, i like it.

  • @tornic531 Graphic novels and comic/manga books are often exaggerated

  • Loop me in, Odd one.

  • WOW!!!! That was amazing, before I played Chapter 1 I thought this might be filled with poor quality camera work and bad acting. I'm so glad I wrong, and the music score gave me goosebumps. If Odd ever makes it to the big screen then an unknown to play the protaganist is 100% the correct way to go.

  • please more more more 5bigk

  • Is there an Odd Thomas movie in the works?

  • What about keanu reeves as odd, that would work for me :)

  • @cr3GGHEAD I don't know. Tubirokr21 had the best idea for this. It should really be an unknown actor. The less experience, the better.

  • Love the scene from 1:04 till 1:14! AWESOME

  • OMG!!! I love it!!! I expected odd to be a little bigger in body shape but other then that he's spot on from what i imagine. Is there any more odd thomas after odd hours?

  • Just to note: don't watch this before reading the books! it's just hintd to me who the bad guys are in forever odd and brother odd

  • excellent!! Loved the books, and these episodes ride along side of the characters. Like the actor playing odd as well. I can't wait to see who plays stormy and the rest of the characters from the novels

  • ok these episodes are awsome and I have racked my brain and just can't see jonny being odd. Odds really unique and I just don't see jonny being able to pull of that kind of humility and innocence odd has about him.

  • Bravo! Well done!!

  • I recently read all the Odd Thomas novels and I can relate to Odd in some ways. Like him I recently lost the one I loved, she still lives, but we are no longer together.

Like Odd I kind of lost my will to live, but also like him I can't die just yet. Odd continues on, using his gift to help the dead.

In my case it's simply not my time yet.

I don't lead as interesting a life as Odd, but it's nice to have someone, fictional or not, that I can relate to.

  • Edward Norton would be my pick for Odd.

  • Again, too freaking old.

  • I really really like this book series.

  • I think the best person to play odd would have to be an unknown. He's one of those characters that would be tarnished by a pre-existing career. This guy while not as bad as they could have done is a perfect example. Could you imagine if Ryan Reynolds showed up in this? People would be pissed. The movie will never be as good as the book but I still hope they do make it. I'm the type of person who loves to see film adaptations simply because I love movies

  • I imagine all the negative feedback relating to the choice of who to play Odd and how the feeling of the book might get too serious is part of the reason why there just won't ever be a movie. It's unfortunate, really. I agree with the negative feedback, of course; Odd was too serious, and the actor doesn't seem like he's read the books and gotten his character, so it feels very forced in that he's learning the character from a script rather than the book itself. Understandable, but still sad.

  • from what i have herd they are still trying to find someone to play the part as odd in a movie.i suggest Johnny Dept. if there is one person that will do what it takes to get into the part, and that means reading the books learning the character of odd it's johnny dept.

  • Jesus, no. Odd is 20 or so; Johnny could've pulled it off in the early 90's maybe, but now he's just not young enough unfortunately. I'd suggest Ryan Reynolds off the top of my head.

  • but you got to think johnny is ageless he can play any part. i still say johnny. you can't just have the age thing you got to think about the fact of will they do what needs to be done to get into the part and johnny would do that.

  • Look, I'm as much a Johnny Depp fan as the next person, but you can't have a movie, which is a visual artform, with an actor that is damn near thirty years too old for the part he's playing.

He could play the part to the tee, he could be the most perfect Odd ever, but if he LOOKS like Odd's grandfather, it won't matter, the illusion is broken.

  • i love these books and dean is great.i have a.d.d so it is hard for me to get in to a book. but when i started reading odd thomas i was hooked. i couldn't put the book down. thanx dean for writing a book that can get some like me to get into reading.

  • same exact thing for me! there wasnt a single book out there that could keep me reading not harry potter or any other book thats famous and everyone loves but this book just drew me in and i actually read to page 103 the first time i opened it which is amazing for me cuz it used to take me weeks to get to pages that far up in school lol these books are amazing and koontz knows exactly wat to leave at the end of every chapter to keep you reading lol i love it!

  • the "Genius (or did he say brilliant?) physicist" was from Brother Odd correct? [=

  • you can see the shadow of the cameraman when he drops the knife.

    T.T

Still an awesome series though [x

  • Ive read so many books Id be rich if i had a nickel for each one and by far this has been the most enjoyable series ever. Refreshing to have so many novels out there and to find a really fresh plot. The thing I like best is the humorous things sprinkled through the books, not ridiculous, just refreshingly funky and clever.

  • Just watched all four episodes. AWESOME web series, probably the best quality I've seen. Definitely makes me want to check out these books. Totally never heard of them before.

    What was this shot on?

  • it was shot on the panasonic hvx.

  • Ok so..Im from a small town and out of everyone I have asked Im the only person who has ever heard of Odd Thomas or Dean Koontz. Heck Im the only person I know that readsAnd the only "book store" is walmart. So I did'nt know there was such a following or webisodes....OMG this is great. I love love love Odd to death man. Dean Koontz is the greatest. I wish theyd make the Odd books Into 10 hour movies like they do King's books.. THEY ARE AMAZING

  • I loved this webisodes, and i love Odd Thomas, but I have to say that I did not like the Perkins's actor. I felt that he needed acting classes or something. Plus Odd punches do look fake.

P.S at 00:49 you can see the shadow of the cameraman

  • Odd Thomas was one of the best books I have read. His character is simple. You don't see that very often in other books.

  • まだ2作目までしか読んでないけど、オッドってこんなバイオレンスな感じじゃないと思ってました

  • Ok, I am, a little lost... what's up with the dog?!

  • The dog is a ghost as well, he comes from the third book and follows Odd around.

  • Oh hehee, thanks. I just started reading the first one so I was a little confused.

  • he is from the third book

  • You would have to read the series and you would totally understand the dog....its kinda funny the way hes introduced.

  • brillient, shame odd thomas isnt made into films

  • brillient, shame they not made into films

  • a serie would be awesome a think

  • cameraman shadow at :49

  • Man, that was a good swing with the log. POW, ha ha ha.

  • If they make movies of the odd thomas series, this is exactly how they should be.

For the love of god, leave ben afleck out of them!

  • I've got this horrible feeling and I know I can't shake it, I've read books 1-->4 and watched these - I really don't want Odd to die, but I just know hes going to in the last book!

  • Very nice video, I finished Odd Hours last night. I cant wait to see what happens next.

  • lmao "no need to find out just yet.....*punches the killer guy and runs*

  • Oh I wish they really would make a Odd Thomas movie.

  • They are ya know.

  • Are they really? Are you just teasing me? Or is this Webisode as good as it gets?

  • I think his books would also make for a great TV series! Then they could really do his stories justice.

  • With all that said, Hollywood has a way of screwing up great things. I would hate to see this ruined. Odd Thomas is a great story I am not sure a movie or a TV series could ever really do it justice.

  • GAh! That's it? Oh man, yea gotta make more. This was fantastic! This would make a seriously fantastic full length movie. Wow.

  • great lead in, I look forward to seeing if you do more.

  • No more Odd Thomas as of yet, but check out "Fragment" for some cool webisodes that we did.

  • the first one ruined the ending of odd thomas for me because i found out story dies :(

  • Love the video and music score!! Excellent job Mr. Jack Paccione, I read all 4 novels of Odd Thomas. (Just want to give heads up to the fans out there who haven't purchase the 5th one "In Odd we Trust" ) It is not like the other 4 novels. It is more of a prequel to all 4 novels. It is also not novel, but a comic book. I was little disapointed at first, I thought it was the 5th installment. But neverless it is still fun reading.

  • Wow. I am absolutely RIVETED by the books, and this is an amazing depiction!! I love when an author of Dean Koontz's caliber can describe something so perfectly that the movie depiction is exactly as I saw it in my mind's eye. Does this mean that the movie for Odd Thomas is coming out? Or are they just on the web? Everything about this is amazing! The music is fantastic, I love it! This is so exciting, I can't wait for the next one.

  • This is great!

Ive been meaning to read the rest of the Odd novels that have come out since the first two. but i just havnt gotten around to it.

But after seing this, i will do just that!

  • the punches at the beginning were funny

  • magnificent truly wonderful

  • "It seems those with evil in there hearts all had one thing in common. They allways expect you to run." WHAM

    Ha I love it.

  • Except for the WHAM, I'd have used a POW. You took the words right out of my mouth.

  • Absolutely amazing! Anthony Marks is a perfect Odd Thomas. Especially his voice.

And the musical score is absolutely breathtaking. I would give anything to have it. Is there any way I could get a hold of it??

  • Have you tried contacting Escape Goat Pictures? They were the production company that did these videos. They are awesome!

  • Hey! Thanks! This is Jack Paccione, director of OP and ALSO the score composer! i really apprecitate always the great compliments on both the film and the music! I'm going to put together a CD soon with all my film scores on it, free for anybody that wants one. Contact me at our website and i'll get one out to you when it's complete. Thank you always from everybody at Escape Goat Pictures.

  • Amazing, you kept so true to who Odd really is. I hope to see more!!

  • brilliant. nothing else to say.

  • as a close friend of Anthony Marks (Odd Thomas) i believe he was the perfect choice for this, he's the exact same in person..what a great guy

  • Love these books...I did my grade 12 ISU on Brother Odd . Awesome job on the webisodes...I've watched it many, many times :)

  • awesome. odd was perfect...great actor choice. and boo!!!! boo rules!! im so glad u put him in here. i havent read hours yet....but i cant wait. i was so sad when elvis left, but stoked for sinatra..anyway, ur stuff is great, please make more.

  • they were incredible! :) please tell me there are more?

  • does this take place after all the books?

  • It takes place between Brother Odd and Odd Hours.

  • i read all the books and i think these wdbisodes show perfectly the heart and sould of Odd Thomas. freakin sweet. A++++++++

  • Great job on the film but any chance it could be closed captioned for the Deaf who loves Odd Thomas like me?

  • Hands down, Awesome!

  • Pretty damn cool actually.

  • that was pretty bad ass

  • I'm a huge fan of the Odd Thomas books. I think all 4 of these webisodes captured him greatly. Love them!

  • So freakin' awesome!! Odd Thomas needs to be made into a full length movie.....Love It!!!

  • This is absolutely AWESOME!!!

    NICE ACTING AND DIRECTING!

  • Loved this! Especially, "They always expect you to run." Whack!

  • the tone is all wrong. i appreciate the sense of tribute to the books, but why i love the odd books is because he is funny, kind, and hopeful despite his tragic experiences. this series was too dramatic, too heavy. and, this boy is not who i pictured. i suppose no visual could have matched the imagined piqued by koontz's character, though.

  • this was fantastic ... well done & bravo!

  • Bravo! I have to say, Odd's narration sounded more pessimistic than I imagined, and the bodachs could have been a little slinkier. I was surprised nonetheless when I typed in Odd Thomas and found such an enthralling miniseries.

Good job, and thank you for making a tribute to such great novels.

  • I ENJOY Dean Koonz's novels!

  • i like boo, brother odd.

  • That's exactly what I imagined Odd to look like. I love it!

  • wow, it's Odd how eerily similar that is to how i pictured! kudos.

  • Very well done. This portrayal of Odd is how I pictured him as well as the bodachs in part 2. Brother Odd got me hooked on the books. Now I just have to go pick up Odd Hours.

  • i wish there was more of these!!!!! i love odd thomas!!! i'm re-reading the entire series because of these(i only have odd hours left to read)!!!

  • weirdly enough, since the moment I heard of the character, even before I read the book, this is EXACTLY how I imagined Odd to be, he looks the way I thought him to be, his voice is the way I imagine it.

  • As much as I love Odd Thomas this could have been a little better. This guy playing him just dosent embrace the true character of Odd Thomas.

  • Awesome,I happened on to this by mistake and what a treat, well thoughtout and well made bravo Mr.White and Mr.Pacione.

  • That was a really good short! I love Koontz and the Odd Thomas series. It would be awesome if the first book could be made into a movie!

  • Heck, it would be awesome if ALL the Odd books could be made into movies!

  • I liked what happened around 1:09.

  • Brother Odd was ranked as number 7 in the Best-selling American Books of 2007.

  • i love dean koontz books, especially the odd thomas books so much. the end of the first one made me cry, i really thought stormy was still alive. kudos for putting these together, and though they weren't exactly as i imagined odd, i liked them. awesome job

  • I just finished Odd Hours. Does anyone else think that the tie in with the Fear Nothing and Seize The Night books will reveal itself more in the next book?

  • 1:09

    Kick his ass Odd!!!

  • The first book made me cry at the end, him thinking he still had Stormy. :( I have always loved Dean Koontz books, and will continue to read even if they get monotonous. I would watch if this were a real series on t.v. (And I never watch t.v.) Way to go Dean and crew this was a glimpse into a real face to put with Oddie. And not a bad looking one I might add.

  • no, Odd knew that stormy was a ghost, he just didn't want to accept it and let her go

  • This would be way better than most shows out there right now. I would much prefer to watch this than Ghost Whisperer. Great shorts! I have been holding off to read the book until I finally got through the webisodes, so now I am free and clear to let the reading commence!

    You guys totally rock!

  • i know, right!

  • Yeah, Jerry White and Jack Pacione really can tell a story. Props to escape goat! Split anyone? ;P

  • Thank you so much for making these! I'm reading Odd Hours right now and you made my day :) Odd Thomas has got to be one of the best fictional characters ever.

  • Wow! I have always loved Dean Koontz's work. I think Odd is his best and most memorable character to date. I have got to get caught up on this series!

    Awesome, wonderful video movies!!!

    Cheryl Kaye Tardif

    Canadian suspense author

  • WOW! These were really good. I wish they would make a T.V. series out of these books. I cant get enough Odd Thomas!

  • scond that! Odd Thomas is excellent material for a great mini series (as are moost of Koontz stories but I do think Odd stands out)

I'd like to see this guy continue playing Odd as well.

  • Anyone ever watching Pushing Daisies? I thought from the first episode that the star on that show would be perfect for Odd. The one in these videos is pretty darned good, though. And the book I'd like to see made into a movie is Intensity.

  • Intensity was made into a movie, John C. McGinnley is the Edgler.

  • These were wicked shorts/ I hope to see more/

Liked the story and how it lead to ODD HOURS/

keep up the good work guys/

  • Whomever created these webisodes did a fantastic job!!! Some how you have brought life to my imagination. Though, could have brought in a bit more details.

I have been a Koontz fan for almost three decades.

  • Isn't the guy that directed these the same guy that won Shoot The Good Guy contest?

  • yes. ;) that's us.

  • Fear Nothing for a Dean Koontz book, I'd love to see Christopher Snow bought to life.

Or... Replay by Ken Grimwood for a none Dean Koontz, another great book!

  • So other than Odd Thomas what book would anyone here like to see as a movie?

  • First of all Great Webisodes..I became a fan of Dean the first day I read "Odd Thomas.I do hope this series goes into a Movie Production instead of the T.V series cuz i would think it would do more justice on the big screen and it will keep the vibe that the books hold. But of course you need a director who would keep that vibe and that is hard to find these days..Cant wait to read about ole blue eyes in "Odd Hours"

  • There have been several movies made from Dean's books, but most of them could not really measure up to the books. It is very difficult to portray the thoughts we can read in the books. I enjoyed Phantoms,it starred Ben Affleck. About the end of the world, you will understand when you read the book. I read the first two chapters available online and it looks like it is gonna be a real page-turner! I can't afford the hard copy, but I will get it from the library as soon as I can!

  • Three cheers for Dean and his character Odd!!!

Loved thr first three books, and have no doubt that Odd Hours will be just as wonderful a read. One thing I am still waiting on is the next chapter in the Frankenstein series Dean started. It has been far too long since part two came out.

As for the book/movie conversions I have to agree with Dean and his fans, the movies simply do not do his books justice.

  • Great. I just got Odd Hours and cannot wait to read it. This was an excellent series of webisodes to whet my appetite for the next book. I hope you get a movie deal to film the other Odd Thomas books especially the first book. Thank you. You did a wonderful job with the setting, music and casting.
