You don't need to be 18 buddy. Get a small dirt bike and go have fun. It'll help you become more experienced and a better and safer rider later in life!
I'm living in Colombia now where I have opened Casa Blanca Hostel and soon motorcycle tour and rental: Motolombia. No plan of returning to Nicaragua any time soon unfortunately;-)
You probably found out yourself in the meantime ... try knobbly tires. No wonder you got stuck with street tires.
