Seems like a lot of youngsters are listening to Mastodon lately and instead of being a metal elitest I can just introduce you to similar artists. Baroness, Kylesa, Red Fang, Black Tusk, Sleep, Isis, Pelican,The Sword, Electric Wizard, Orchid and Kyuss are all similar in genre and fantasy background. Obviously don't sound the exact same but I get a similar stokage from them.

And when i heard that lick, mastofon had me hooked up for the rest of my life. the sadest thing about this story is that none of my friends like mastodon. but hey, who gives a F***, I like them and that's what really matters. I saw them at their gig at the Hove Festival in Norway and that was one of the best live esperiences i've ever had!

It actually does sound a little bit like Welcome Home by Metallica when it turns over in the heavy part. But you can take every Metal song and find another one that has a part that sounds equally the same ^^
