  • looks scary sheesh

  • there was a time when i sat in the front of the train and the conducter was outside just chillin with the door open at a really fast speed, also on the r40.

  • This is one of the fastest tubes in the system...some of these guys have told me they can get the train up to 60+ mph on this grade. No timers in the tube = FUN. And its fast for a NYC subway train trust me.

  • nee dit is geen rollercoasten dit is gewoon de trein naa amsterdam om jonkoo's te halen

  • @sambalgeit Praat geen nonsens !!!

  • @ruudjemulder anders ga je er ff serieus op in

  • yea a roller coaster like slope. I always wonder how the railway engineers did with all these steep curves and slopes hundred years back. Only NYC subway has such difficult curves and slopes I guess.

  • i took this before, didn't notice the quickness though-

  • SANE graffiti 1:18

  • fast.

  • this video is really fast

  • i love the R40s

  • they are the best car in the NYC subway

  • Well 1 of the best i would say

  • Either that or the R32s.

  • Too bad they are gone

  • I always ride in the last car, It has

    a whole different feel.

  • thats not fast

  • berlin subway is faster :P

  • shit exciting everytime i go there yo.

  • yes this was a r40 slant with scrachitti on the window. I am so glad over 20k people got to see this , this is one scary ride. I used to do this 2 times a day.

  • ye yo its mad funn tho like i used to do this wit my gf alot

  • I'm a conductor and I know for a fact that the 60th Street Tube is one the best locations to pick up speed due to the straight downgrade of the track. I was working the N and my T/O hit 61 mph on R68 equipment. That is the fastest speed I ever witnessed...........

  • @SoulRebel003

ROOKIE!!! :-D In my TA days (5 1/2 years B Division C/R), I had a motorman who hit 63 MPH with R-68s!! She moved that train FAST!!!! :-)

  • @SoulRebel003

ROOKIE!!! :-D In my TA days (5 1/2 years B Division C/R), I had a motorman who hit 63 MPH with R-68s!! She moved that train FAST!!!! :-) Of course, grade and station timers put an end to that

  • Looked like you were outside of the car there...you wouldn't happen to be a transit employee would you?

  • r train is faster

  • great video

  • Not lately though because they have been doing construction on 59th street forever now and trains have to go in slower speeds now. However, the 60th street tunnel is very fast but your ears would hurt after it. Fast Speed+ Underwater Tunnel= Pop!

  • Why is that? Ive always wondered.

  • People, its the 60th Street Tube. It's arguably the fastest segment of the New York City Transit System. The video doesnt show the fastest part though.

  • Rofl it gets boring after a while... I have to take the N/W train to lexington then I switch to the 4/5. I get off at Union Square and take the L train to Montrose Ave. Just to get to school everyday.

  • try doing these runs (round trip) 3-5 times daily from terminal to terminal.

  • The trains here rarely get past 45mph, sadly. The E/F trains usually it 40 in Queens between Roosevelt Ave and Queens Plaza/21st st Queensbridge.

The A/D trains in Manhattan FLY down Central park West, they have to at least hit 45 at some points. The 4th Ave subway in brooklyn hit good speed too.

  • 4&5 in the Jerome tube. Get a good T/O with the signals in your favour, you'll reach 50

  • To the guy who said the 7 train was going 53 mph going from elevated to tunnel... impossible. The stop before it goes to elevated is Hunters Point Ave and its right before the incline, which is a curve so that aint happening going in either direction, that's auto-derailment, lol.

It's possible going to the last stop in Flushing though.

  • the train was more fun in the old days....anyone remember the R10s?

  • the class of rail car that preceded this?

  • hell yea

  • It's somewhat like when the A and D go express along side Central Park, you can't feel it, but the train goes up and down fast.

  • This ride looks fun!

  • Holy crap! That looks like fun! X3

  • Sweet. I'm taking my kids on this ride.

    Thanks for posting.

  • This looks like you shot this from an r40, right?

  • Looks like a slant 40 to me.

  • if only u taped it from the front...

  • YOU SHOULD TAKE THE N TRAIN

  • How's he supposed to do that numb nuts? The conducter is in the front.

  • Conductor's position is mid-train.

  • T/O is in front, and since this equipment does not have a transverse cab you can film from front (in violation of one or another MTA regulation).

  • I have never rode a subway train in NYC.. But I clocked a train doing about 70mph in the river tunnel for the El in Philadelphia. The sign said 50 to 60 not 70.But I didnt complain. I got from 30th street to 15th street in about 20 seconds.

  • When i was on the F one day, that thing was screeching and banging a long way. It was in a tight tunnel, so i wondered if it derailed if it would get back on the track, i think it woulda been pretty cool to walk out of the subway if it broke down. THe F went fast, and it shook back and forth.

  • Ride the F train in R32s. I here that there is a lot of sounds with those.

  • omg the n train is my train, i take it everyday in brooklyn.

and yea the f train can b really loud

  • I was little when I lived by the Hellgate Bridge in Astoria, but I still remember riding the N every time we went into Manhattan. Never failed us.

  • That is one hell of a fast ride! I recall riding the 7 one time, and the train went from elevated to the tunnel at about 53mph. The E train goes very fast in the tunnels between Manhattan and Queens.I got soooo dizzy at the "roller coaster ride"

  • In Season 2004-2005, I was on an N train, which clocked at 63mph (101km/h)

  • better than Q32,Q60,or even Q101 they are so slow! This is more faster! Awesome!

  • It seems even faster to us oldtimers who remember the absurd timers that were there until about 15 years ago. Rivertubes used to all be restricted to 35 MPH as a matter of policy enforced by time signals.

  • i got to ride this in an R160

  • the R160 is nice, i road it on the A line once. Honestly though, I would rather ride the r42 or r32, I like the older models.

  • yeah me 2

  • D goes verrrrrry fast in the bronx

  • Yea thats not ALL of the utnnel, but it WAS going pretty fast when you closed it. I watch it go the oopposite way going home to roosvelt sometimes =D it goes SOOOOO FAST!!! maybe i should make a video...

  • he should have pointed the camera to the left as the train went into the tunnel, he would have caught the world famous Queensbridge Projects!!

  • yeah, thatiz fats. also, another "rollercoaster" of nyc subway iz day 7 express between junction nd willets points, where it goes on 1 track higher than evryother track

  • oooh the joy, (trainspotters???)

  • The route "N" IS FAST!!!!

  • hahaha try writin on trains for fun

  • The B and D train went so fast LOL! :D

  • I never took the N train before, but I know the A train goes really fast when it goes to Manhattan.

  • very true...

  • Man i cant wait to move back to NYC

  • Gotta love the 60th Street Tunnel.

  • LOL, i was going uptown on the N last week when I was in NY..HAHA, when they were trying to cut down on electricity. IT WAS HELL, LOL. NO express trains whatsoever, and the 7 was having problems too.
