Aww, I remember this one...several of the old Tom & Jerrys used to make me cry when I was a kid, this was one of them, I felt so bad for poor Tom. I read that the more sentimental cartoons in the series had more Hanna's influence than Barbera's; the guy really had a knack for working your emotions. You know, it never really clicked that the whole train track bit was about suicide. Seeing it again nowadays I guess there is some comedy in there too, but still rather depressing.
