GOT IT WORKING ON Win7 with 7z. If you don't see the extract option like me when you right clip>7zip, then you have to manually open 7z, find the file, and click the extract button at the top. Otherwise, I can't find any other way to extract.

Worked great the first time. Then I tried to duplicate the process, using a different created directory and different pic but with two files (I wanted to hide two files instead of the one), and I keep getting a "the system cannot find the file specified". When I dir the directory, I can see the files right there. I try to copy them exactly as you have in your tutorial and I I get the same error. I even rebooted my computer because it makes no sense that I can't copy the files right there.

@NewChoiceCola no it doesn't have to be in c:/ you can do it anywhere... learn to use cmd... You have to direct to the address where the files are first then use the cmd line to joint the compressed files with the image.

For all you who are having problems extracting, some programs don't give you the option of extracting the file if it doesn't see compression present such as ZIP, RAR, 7Z etc. when you right-click. In that case simply open your compression program and manually locate the new file and you'll have the option to extract it right there through that process. I've seen some people are struggling trying to get the file back. Hope it makes sense?!

thats right, whichever file is first, that file will be the main usable file, such as an image. so yea, you got it right.

I still recommend putting that docx document in an archive because you wont be able to get it back if you just merge the image and the document together.

I archived[1] a password protected archive[2] with no file extension containing the hidden content. And changed the archive[1] into a .txt extension and named it "CPU tester" as double clicking it crashed the explorer. I could also use this tweak (video) to make it seem like a cached desktop.ini file instead of a .jpg fake which also crashed the explorer...

it will always work if you are hiding files that are 0kb once you start working with real files you will see this simple jpg isnt a big enough container to hide avi files effectively. You can do the same with actual programs that are far more effective or a hex editor.

If you wana hide your porn, get any free anti-virus software with a virus vault (AVG Free) and save it in the virus vault. search engines do not search the virus vault and the only way to find it is to open up AVG, look inside the virus vault and see it.

Try Opening the file in your compression software using the "Open with" command in the right-click menu. Then extract what you want when the hidden files show in the program.
