I agree with you when you say slap and pop belongs more to the percussion section than the bass section. I came from drums and started learning bass, and slap is extremely appealing as a result.

I'm new to the bass so I don't really know what I'm doing, but whenever I slap the string, I get a click sound from the string going against the frets. I know the slap has this percussive effect but I'm not sure that this specific click sound is supposed to happen. I tried messing with the gain on the amp but the click sound doesn't go through to the amp, its only the bass. What should I do?

@seansayssup Thats typical. Don't worry about it at all. As long as the sound is clean going through your amp, that is all that matters :)

@dlewis1498 It could be. I'd focus on the technique, until you have it down 100%. Then worry about the sound :)
