I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that they all died....cause (& this is so evil) they shot all of them and put acid on them or something. I read a book about her (which was really sad) but the truth is, is that their mom was really stupid and listend to Rasputten's (don't know how to spell it) advice, and their dad listened to her advice.......it's still sad though

Yes, this version is totally false and not at all historically correct. BUT no one would really know or care anything about the real anastasia or bother investiagting if not for this movie. I´d like to think this is the happily ever after she deserved.

i find this song so terribly sad, because its the part of the movie that reminds me the most that the real Anastasia didn't get so lucky as she did in the film- she didn't live and get a chance to fall in love and run away. The real anastasia died that night with her parents and siblings. its so so...sad.

She said it was a moment of weakness on their MURDERER'S part. They were in house arest for quit some time, then killed. Walls were removed because of bullet holes that were left behind. the reason those grim fairy tales were made up is because it was meant to actually makes kids scared of the dangers out side of there home. other than to put your children to sleep with nice little fairy tales. your meant to be taught a moral through the story. i'm glad Disney made movies on the life stories of historical events in our lifetime and keeps the memory of grim's fairy tales.
this movie made me love Anastasia so much that i learned almost all of the background of the real story in third grade! It always makes me so sad inside....

Plus they never knew if it were Anastasia or Maria's remains that were missing,but the remains they found were the bones of a girl in the same age as maria so they belive it were her. one of the best animated movies ever made. sadly this masterpeice is saverly underrated and has never been given the respect and popularity it deserved. this is the pinnacle of non-disney animation. one of the darkest, most powerful stroies ever animeated, with amazing songs and a historical backgroung to boot. even with all that, it somehow managed to keep from being to much for a kids movie.
it is so sad to think how this is based on a real story. as a kid, this was one of my favorite movies, but i never understood that it really happened. It is sad that in the end, in reality, Anastasia and her family was executed. But there was some confusion as to whether or not Anastasia survived as there was many girls claiming to be her. Just like in the movie the hunchback of notre dame, in real life, esmerelda really burned at stake and died, she wasnt saved. :(

I watched this movie once or twice, when I was very young, but I didn't remember anything from it, exept this song which in I remember every detail perfectly. Now I just rewatched it and I still couldn't reconize anything, but this song. Weird...
Even as a little kid I always knew that Anastasia wan NOT a Disney movie. In recent years, on the Internet, I've been surprised by all of the confusion.
I have always loved this move so much. I have always been facinated by the mystery of Anastasia, what really happened.. This may be the most touching song of all I have ever heard.

the reason those grim fairy tales were made up is because it was meant to actually makes kids scared of the dangers out side of there home. other than to put your children to sleep with nice little fairy tales. your meant to be taught a moral through the story. i'm glad Disney made movies on the life stories of historical events in our lifetime and keeps the memory of grim's fairy tales.

@moviefan1o1 Actually they have found her. They found her and Alexei remains couple of years ago. Plus they never knew if it were Anastasia or Maria's remains that were missing,but the remains they found were the bones of a girl in the same age as maria so they belive it were her. So sad but she and her little brother died the same way and together with the rest of the family and servants :/ Let's just hope they gonna be buried with the rest of the family D:

So they're the ones whose doors should be knocked on. And a "normal person" is an idea to the individual, to me a normal person is one who worries about what's going on around them. one of the best animated movies ever made. sadly this masterpeice is saverly underrated and has never been given the respect and popularity it deserved. this is the pinnacle of non-disney animation. one of the darkest, most powerful stroies ever animeated, with amazing songs and a historical backgroung to boot. even with all that, it somehow managed to keep from being to much for a kids movie.

it is so sad to think how this is based on a real story. as a kid, this was one of my favorite movies, but i never understood that it really happened. It is sad that in the end, in reality, Anastasia and her family was executed. But there was some confusion as to whether or not Anastasia survived as there was many girls claiming to be her. Just like in the movie the hunchback of notre dame, in real life, esmerelda really burned at stake and died, she wasnt saved. :(

@wildberry2419 The confusion came from the fact that, when they found the mass grave, there were two bodies missing: Alexei's, and either Anastasia's or Maria's. Funnily enough I would have thought there would have been more people claiming to be Alexei! But they found two bodies in 2009, and they were unmistakeably Alexei and his sister. They never escaped.
