Very distressed about your kid starting to drive? If your kid drives a 2008 Ford Taurus, watch this video and you won't have any more worries. Works better than hypnosis. If the kid drives another car... you may not have such an easy way to relieve stress. IIHS crash test videos - assuming they're in a safe car.
i drove that taurus another 150,000 it was crinkled looking because the rear end was pulled out but to my dads amazement the fram wasnt even bent and the oldsmobile slammed into my back tire. and the previous owners slammed it into a tree at 30mph and just had the hood and bumper replaced, i also had a harley davidson t-bone me and it bounced off of me like a basketball and only left a little scarape and dent in my back passenger door, after my 92 taurus died i got a 94 taurus wagon
i have owned 3 taurus's, they start to break down after 300,000 miles wait i guess thats not a downfall, i felt so safe driving them and one day i had a old guy driving behind me and he passed out from his medications and he plowed his oldsmobile 88 into back of my 92 taurus at 60+ MPH and i was only going about 30 mph and beleive me or not my dad pulled the back end passenger side back out ripped off the part of the bumper that was hanging and inserted a new light assembly and kept driving it
this ad goes for - and it works on a deeply emotional level. Judging by this car's crash test results and safety content, it is also perfectly true - for the 2008-09 models, AND the 2010 and newer models. I wish the best of success for the Ford Taurus, it is a beautifully engineered car and should become a best seller again. I love these cars. They are one of my top 10 favorite cars. End of story.

Imagine someone you really care about - your wife, your best friend, your 16 year old daughter - driving this car. Now lets say a drunk driver comes over the center line and slams into this person head on. The front end crumples, the seat belt tightens, and the airbag deploys at full power (like in this video) to protect this person. After the crash, they call you and say that they are okay, all because the car has such exemplary safety features. That's the kind of marketing
Seriously, the part of this commercial from 1:23 - 1:50 demonstrates safety in a way a normal crash test commercial can't. They say "airbags, seat belts, crush zones, yadda yadda yadda" but this ad SHOWS the body crumpling in a way that spares the driver; it SHOWS the airbag deploying (and posing absolutely NO risk of injury to the driver despite inflating enough to protect him), and it SHOWS the dummy move forward into this airbag and then coming straight back into the seat.
@whattheheck1000 so it has one of those sensors that prevent them going off well then if the car get fixed they have to replace that one anyway if its reparable and there isnt really good reason why it doesnt go off
@ChrisBennett18 It's unneeded, it does unnecessary damage, and it can impair access to the glove compartment. (Although not nearly as bad as a passenger KNEE airbag... those are just BAD)
@whattheheck1000 it wont be hard to get to the glove compartment just move the airbag out of they way it isnt hard also they will replace the airbag even though its good they will through it away also they need to put knee airbags so ur knees dont get damage
@ChrisBennett18 they simply don't need it for a non-existent passenger, and some people won't have the presence of mind to move a knee airbag. plus it can total a car that was "on the borderline".
I dig the new taurus (this one and even more-so the 2010 models). I test drove one a couple weeks ago, they are very nice (and safe as I find out now). And the SHO is bad ass!
This is coming from someone who dislikes ford overall, it means a lot. If their mechanical reputation holds out over the next few years, I will definitely consider buying a used one when I get out of college.
Just gonna put this out there, all of you who commented personal OPINIONS need to have the facts before you go spreading shit that isnt true. Ford DOES own Volvo. if you notice, they have very similar test ratings. Ford also owns Land Rover in case you care, but the system Ostaph(gay name) is "City Safety" which is designed for the CITY at speeds from 2 to 18 mph. nice try buddy.
@ExilmBitch hi, since you're putting a big emphasis on "the facts", you should know that land rover was sold to tata motors along with jaguar a little over 2yrs ago.
Part of the reason I bought a 2008 Taurus Ltd was safety. I had a Cavalier prior and it had poor crash tests. Traveling within 4 states on a regular basis, I've had the Taurus for a few months now and I love that car. Handles great too.

Volvo must have been selling really well, oh wait they got bought out by ford because no one wants to drive around in a square box regardless of how safe it is.
so long as people are driving cars no electronic gadget will prevent serious accidents. A $120K benz can get hit by $5000 betsy and everyone in the Benz die while the Betsy passengers walk away.
so next time try crash it at 60 mph instead of 40 and still see it own all of the other car companies... also the pass air bag did not deploy as it was not severe enough for the passangers side.
There was nobody in the passenger seat, so most cars won't deploy the passenger airbag (although in Ford's case with the Personal Safety System, the system detects the approximate weight of the passenger and along with data like crash severity, seat position, and seatbelt usage, it determines whether air bags should be deployed fully, partially, vented, or not at all, compared to the simple on or off that other cars use).
@HelpSaveMotherEarth look at 1:33. the airbag is fully inflated while the driver is still fairly far back. the airbag comes nowhere close to the face in inflation. another reason this car is just too safe
@whattheheck1000 im not talking about this vehicle i was in a chevy and the seatbelt did not lock when the brakes were applied and the airbag didnt deploy like this i was already about to hit the stearing wheel and the bag thout it was time to go off...
I love Ford.

i dont belive it should be called a car accident as car crashes usually happen for a reason or a cause... mostly 99% of the time its driver error
