I think the fact that Ecuador's economy is based on the US dollar, but is actually getting better says quite a bit about how good of a president he is. I think the fact that Ecuador's economy is based on the US dollar, but is actually getting better says quite a bit about how good of a president he is. Mostly everyone has electricity in Quito, and food is inexpensive.

Correa studied in Illinois, at the University of Illinois. Of course that is an interesting factor to the current situation. There are some accusations against the uS, none of which Correa has made himself, but it's really strange, and ironic, that both leaders have studied in the same state. At the same time, I don't want to suggest he has anything against Obama. A lot of these leaders have no issue with Obama's persona. Most of them respect him, so far, in contrast to Bush.

Last year a miserable 0.36% increase in GDP which means we have no increases in standard of living. The hated IMF is a lending institution. Its up to us whether to accept a loan or not. However, they do have better deals than CHINA, who are asking from ECuador several prerequisites for credit from this country for GOOD REASONS!

If Ecuador were to recognise the "independence" of these provinces (recognising Russian imperial power in the region) it would be comparable to the US recognising the coup d'etat and the unfairly elected Lobo regime in Honduras (attempting to reaffirm US power in the region).

Dr. Rafael Correa studied Economy in Belgium and got married there. Later in The US He got a Master and Doctoral degrees. So yes He knows his subject.
He is well respected in the region.
It is sad there are sharks that want his head just because He tells inconvenient truths.

First of all a speech is not a conference and G W Bush would not even enter a serious university without getting his ass kicked, so don't take things out of context, perhaps you have another political opinion, and that's ok, but basing it on false premises doesn't make you smart, the least a country can do to overcome a foreign terrorist group is to buy weapons, specially when it practically doesn't have a decent army

Me refería a la seguridad en las ciudades y no en la frontera pero entiendo la confusión. Se vivía con la misma violencia? Debe ser culpa de la recesión mundial, la devaluación del dólar, etc. Pura coincidencia. El desempleo? Si existe sera x lo antes mencionado. Logros del gobierno de Correa? La unica mejora la he visto en la educacion y eso es bastante. Me alegro. El resto? No lo he visto. Me imagino q como pelucon no recibo los beneficios. Que gobierno no es prometedor? Suena muy bien! Especialmente después de gastar tanto pero tanto dinero en publicidad. No te preguntas por que una idea tan "buena" requiere tanto mercadeo?
