10:34 That's Patrick Hennessey! He wrote about this: "Or perhaps how we managed to persuade a judge down in Winchester to grant a non-custodial sentence for the soldier who'd broken a policeman's head last month?"
This war has been going on too long with too many casualties. The hardest part is knowing that the war is still going to continue for god knows how long. It continues mostly because of the brave soldiers of all the different nations fighting to takedown the Taliban. In the doc Hell and Back Again reminded me it is because of brave soldiers like Sgt. Harris and others that I can enjoy my freedom. Bless all the troops and I wish them a quick end to the war. bit. ly/yYsv5o
what would the gov do if everyone soldier sed Im not dieing for this amount of money and fucked it off? the Gov would have to act on it, without the army this countrys nothing
Such a shame for such a great soldier to leave the army. If the GOV gave more support to our troops, then i wonder if he would have left?! Firstly he would never had got in that fight and never gone to court. It fills me with anger to see these men return home and get no support, and told to go back to a normal life. Utter bullshit
what a good soldier!!!! like all over there . U british should be proud of a your son like him n i know u r . i'm a italian soldier of the air force (near to move in australia for try to enjoy in the SARS coz i'm australian 2) n i can say that i was honored to meet people like British soldiers.
Thats strange.... I trained for and got my opito certificates for off shore oil rigs but now I start my training for the Irish Guards in January! I think Jack might have turned into a bit of an andrenaline* junkie and just couldn't deal with the monotony of normal daily living. He does genuinely seem like a nice guy though. I wouldn't mind meeting a friend like him when I start my training.
What a man! Incredibly handsome, modest, brave, popular, good sense of humor. Glad he got out of that rat hole alive. Sorry about his mates that did not make it.
The guy needs counseling. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Prison? Drop the charges and give him counseling. Osama dead Al queda is in Pakistan let Karzai and his ANA deal with Taliban. Honor guys like Jack.

I agree about people leaving the ARMY, as i speak people trap me in Australia Sydney To make sure i can not keep contact with former military friends who would help me fight of organised crime that is Allowing locals to steal housing property, , the locals tell me my military friends are gone, I do not know what they mean by this, Maybe The MOD still has records of the service i was able to be apart of...
@sprPee : alot of people from all walks of life get into fights, and if you had watched half of your company been blown up, and been taught to fight for several years, then i cant blame a man for defending himself against some pissheads, then whilst the adrenaline is flowing, resisting arrent from the police. overall hes a good bloke, and despite the GBH charge he seems like a top bloke, and a quality soldier
This man is an absolute inspiration, a very brave young soldier who would have no doubt had a very bright future in the British Army should he have not been through so much and been sent on tour so much. 4 Tours in just over as many years is so much for a young lance corporal to handle especially with how intense the fighting is. If anyone deserves a Victoria Cross, or at the very least the Military Cross, despite his troubles back home; it is this man.
Jack has bottled up all those emotions.. whenever he speaks about things that were hard, he looks down or about.. a sign of escape.. he cannot be blamed for his release, especially when alcohol is a release.. When a man is made into a soldier, expect the tendencies that are associated..
what an fucking inspiration this young man is, you should aim to be like this man (apart from what he assualted someone). It's a shame they treated him like shit after everything hes done for the Army.
U no wat mate it's fucking discusting u deseve to be treated alot better thn tht mate . After everything u have done for us ur a true hero and after watching these video I cnt believe they would let some as gd as u go but shows wat cunts they are . Well it's a true honour to get to wrk with some one like u every day
Jack deserved his medals, and it's so gut-wrenching to see him stripped of his rank and pride like this. Sure, he got in some fights and that was his mistake, but Soldiers are machines; it's hard to just come home from war and then pop to asda for a loaf of bread. Britain let you down Jack, and I'm truly sorry about that. You deserved looking after better after what you did out there.
Jack should have been a Marine or Para, could hardly picture this lad trooping the colour, or guarding the palace, the RM's or Para's probably wouldn't shit on him like the snotty guard Reg.
When our soldiers come home from Iraq and Afghanistan, we always give them a warm welcome; as a nation, we've learned our lesson from Vietnam war. We want all our troops withdrawn from Iraq & Afghanistan, we want them HOME! God bless all soldiers serving in Iraq & Afghanistan. Don't keep to yourself what bothers you, learn to talk it out, there are many caring people out there. Learn to reach out and ask for help.
Jacks' story brought me to tears. Watching all the videos I can feel his hardship; he's holding everything in because he doesn't want to be an inconvenience to anyone. Sometimes you must learn to talk it out with someone; let it out of your system. I'm a volunteer, I talk to a lot of soldiers who come home from Iraq & Afghanistan. I let them vent, I listen, I hold their hands, I cry with them. I hope there are volunteers in UK as support group for soldiers like Jack . You're a good man Jack.
I hope Jack will find a good job working in oil rig in countries like Australia, away from England, a country that never fulfill its end of the bargain; that is taking care of psychological problems related to stress by their soldiers. The British people must also do their part, help these soldiers live a normal life again. These men lived on pure adrenalin while in the battlefield. Big salute to Jack and other british soldiers who served in Iraq & Afghanistan, you all have my respect.
I think the British government lack support for their returning soldiers. I don't know if they have facilities to see soldiers returning from the battle who has PTSD. I think Jack has PTSD, he needs help real bad. For a country that gives benefits to illegal aliens; the British government has neglected their own responsibilities for soldiers they send in Afghanistan. There are more Jacks out there, they all have my sympathy, I've nothing but disdan for the govt who neglected their needs.
He keeps saying tours like it is music but this documentary was worth the watch fuck the government and their imperialistic goals would they send their own kids no i very much doubt it and now they know they can not defeat The Taliban so they are deciding negotiation talks so the moral of Jack's story DON'T JOIN THE ARMY OR ANY OF THE UMBRELLA'S IT COMES UNDER LIKE THE MARINES
What he says is true. GOV train this men to kill and yet when they did it or use it in their own country from what they have learn, the GOV hates them. Its like a puppy whom you love then hate when it gets older and ugly.
This story is the epitomy of a soldiers life. War if fucked.
