Hi Robert, its JD, hah, that was a good one! Watching that was great. you in action is definitely the best. I feel better already. BTW, everybody, i am a former client of Robert Mantell, I really think he is one of the best or the best in SoCal, he has really done some magical stuff with me in the past.....its great to watch his work with someone else, it really makes me smile, and it is definitely for real.
I liked the approach, although 3-5 sessions seem to be too long for a phobia. I've never taken more than two sessions, but then I have many different NLP techniques and I use hypnosis as well.I'll keep a look out for your vids, as you have a good delivery.
There's so many kinds of phobia out there but people are shy or embarrassed to talk about it. With this Brightlife demo, there was not a lot of just talking about the problem. It also distracts you to think and picture your problems in a different way, I guess.
Thanks for offering your ideas about this, drazerjen. The fact is, people only fear what they fear based on how they THINK about things. When a person changes how they think about ANYTHING they can't help but feel differently about it. In a sense, all I was really doing was scratching up this client's mental "recipe" of how she worked herself up into a fear of roaches. Once I'd done that, it was simply impossible for her to create her fear the same way she did before. Case closed. :-)
I think what made this simple process work so smoothly with this woman is the effective timing skill of the coach (it's not just what you say, it's knowing what to do when)-- and what you posted here is an easy to follow demo of collapsing a negative anchor for a visual client. Having watched Robert in person in his seminars, I can say he can really help facilitate change in a subtle and elegant way. He continues to inspire me in what is possible in helping my clients in my therapy practice.
