After that there was probably some random retaliation by Hans as ethnic tension rises. No difference than when Muslim killed some Hindus and the HIndus retaliate.

When the Chinese forces began bringing out weaponry against the protestors, thats when they retaliated and began looting Chinese businesses in anger.

Crime is crime, Han on Uyghur, Uyghur on Han, but when people use that to instigate riots and unrest, that's where the problem comes in. There were a lot of Hans targeted and killed, shops burned down, there are tons of photos of that and the CCP actually suppressed cause they don't want a big backlash from the Han people.

Very entertaining, trouble is 1949 was Mao's stated year zero, not China's. Xinjiang was a part of China prior to the revolution, it was not independent. The influx of Han you talk about I think was part of Mao's "secure the borders" initiative this was largely to develop the region's oil wealth, you've excluded the Uighur diaspora to the South East (Guangzhou) where tensions are more regular.
To sum up, prior to the P.R.C there were 5 peoples of China, the Han, Hui, Mongol, Uighur and Tibetan.

@rainkissme You're just looking at one side. The fact is the riot that broke out last summer specifically targeted Hans Chinese. It was instigated by separatists, so called East Turkistan movement. After that there was probably some random retaliation by Hans as ethnic tension rises. No difference than when Muslim killed some Hindus and the HIndus retaliate.

@DocK36 I honestly doubt you have a more informed position than me seeing as I am Uyghur and have plenty of connections in Urumqi that confirm that the 'East Turkistan movement' did not sponsor the riots, which began as peaceful demonstrations in protest of what happened at the toy factory and how the government handled that event and many others. When the Chinese forces began bringing out weaponry against the protestors, thats when they retaliated and began looting Chinese businesses in anger.

Crime is crime, Han on Uyghur, Uyghur on Han, but when people use that to instigate riots and unrest, that's where the problem comes in. There were a lot of Hans targeted and killed, shops burned down, there are tons of photos of that and the CCP actually suppressed cause they don't want a big backlash from the Han people.
