I heard that the USGS sent a team in to try the same thing with this little recorder thingy on a rope to send in there to record video and other measurements to try to find out what's under there, but the recorder failed and so now they're going to try it again sometime while the cave is still closed.
Thats awesome. I just made it back to that point last week. I'm trying to get my hands on a map of the cave. I've heard of people who have them. Do you know of any other caves around sheridan that you can go into with out having to repel or any thing.
I swam about 10 ft under the wall and came up into a small pocket of air (8" ceiling) and the passage sumped out again. I've recently been told by folks who've dove this with gear that it eventually opens up into a room then sumps out again 300ft from the outside Tongue River in the canyon.
a siphon dive without air tanks sounds pretty scary to me
