you WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE 4LOVERS AND FRANKIE V THEY STARTED IN 1953 54 55 THEN THEY LOCKED ME UP WE ALL HUNG OUT IN SILVER LAKE DANNY LA MINGO AND THE JUMPING JACKS WAS THE BEST GROUP AT THE TIME BUT THEY NEVER MADE IT BIG THEY ALL PLAYED THE SAME CLUBS I USE TO SING WITH THESE GUYS MORE TO COME IF THEY POST THIS THE THINGS I KNOW WOULD AMAZE YOU GOD BLESS YOU
Frankie Valli (possibly Vally or Valley at the time), Tommy Devito, Nick Massi, and who was the fourth? Gaudio wasn't till later and Nicki Devito was in prison, I believe.
Whitburn is correct. As for Nick DeVito being in prison, he did his jail time and when he got out, the Four Lovers (Nick & Tommy DeVito, Frankie Valli and Hank Majewski had their fame and did the Ed Sullivan show. I know this for a fact since I am Nick DeVito's daughter. Once the Four lovers broke up, Nick DeVito took his family and moved to Vegas never to return to Jersey. He passed in April 03'. My Dad was great with that bass. (RIP)
This is correct. Valli, both DeVito's and Majewski. Those are the guys on the EP cover above. Massi, Calello were in and out of the group at varius points. Hugh Garrity was a member, among other guys at various points. Gaudio was not in until later.
You are absolutely correct !!! ... a Close Friend of Mine was An "Inmate" of One of the Four Lovers (One of the DeVito Brothers , if I remember-correctly) , in UpState California. at One Point , during a 10-Month Period , Frankie Valli came-to-visit , at-least once.
Thank-You for clarifying That Point. since I wasn't-There to take-Photos of the Event , I have No Way of knowing (exactly) Who the Story refers-to ... but as far as the Federal Prison System goes , "They" don't give-You a "Choice" of Where You'd like to spend Your "Time".
I realize you cannot "choose" where you do your time but I know for a fact that California was not where they spent any prison time. Honestly, since the success of Jersey Boys, the prison time thing is made much bigger than it really was.
It just a sin that Harvey Holiday on WOGL in Philadelphia doesn't play some of the Four Lovers tracks on the "Street Corners Sunday" show featuring Doo Wop from the 1950's, the only two breaks from the '60s, '70s, and early '80s music the station plays. At least it will give Frankie Valli some credit as a '50s artist and pioneer.
It's fascinating to hear Frankie six years before Sherry. This phase is referred to in "Jersey Boys"(if you're a Seasons fan you MUST see it).I've just ordered a CD of the Four Lovers-can't wait to hear the tracks in full!

Neither one of the "DeVito Brothers" did time in a California prison. It is just not true. THEY WERE JERSEY BOYS!!!
