I may have commented already but I constantly come back and watch this video. I'm just starting to mess around with electronic music production so this video is really interesting for me. Good job again!
hey man, awesome cover....I have a question....how do you get that electronic wind sound at like 3:03-3:07. It kinda builds up, peaks and comes down. I've been trying to do this and I can't figure out what it is. Thanks.
Your voice is really electrified. Your probably a better music maker than you are a singer. Ya' know Owl City probably uses either logic, cubase, garageband, etc.
I looked at the finalists... and was shocked that you weren't among them. I know how hard it is to duplicate just one synthesizer, let alone put together an entire cover as well as you did. (I've seen other attempts, but they're simply not as good.) It takes so much work to put something like this together, so even though you didn't officially make it in, you're in the honorable mentions in my book. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us! I look forward to seeing what you have in store!
dude this is so amazing. how did you learn to use logic this well? ive had it for a while now but i have no idea how you did all this stuff. how could i learn how to do this? please reply!
really cool cover, i actually watched it until the end which is something i dont do with most covers but you just showing the midi, plug-ins and automation was just really interesting.
Nvm the last comment. I have the autotune plugin. How do you fix it up so it doesn't jump all over? Every time I apply it, it jumps alot. I see you have the manual correction mode where you draw the lines to corresponding notes, how Is that implemented? I'd be very greatful. Amazing cover!
So you don't give out Logic files... Could you send the MIDI files? Dont see how that would reveal many secrets.. Im trying to recreate this song & l'd figure out the patch settings on my own it would save me a lot of work.. Cheers M8
Hi there! I'm a big fan of the cover. Was wondering if you could send the logic file if that would not be too much trouble. Would be great! Send me a YouTube email if you can. Cheers!
@macgeek27 I don't give out Logic files sadly, general rule. It reveals far too many secrets. I'm putting together some tutorials and stuff, I'll link them here when they're done. Sorry dude, that's all I can do!
@Iceboy575655 This is all the programs i've heard he uses: Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Reason (Adam Young said once: "I'm kind of a Reason guy"), Goldwave and Audacity.
I am a musician, and i realize this is kind of a broad question, but how did you learn everything in Logic and how to change synth setting to what you want? Is there any guide you can give me?
@underthecouchPRO It's a broad question, but I guess it's a broad answer. I learned all of it from different places. I've learned mostly by doing it. I saved and bought myself a Mac and Logic, it's basically all come from using it. I've got a couple of synths which I've learned my way on, but with learning synths it all pretty much translates - once you know how to use one synth it's dead easy as soon as you're familiar with the controls of another. Logic is only a tool, but I love it.
@underthecouchPRO Embarrassingly the best explanation I can come up with is that I've been a Logic user for years... I've done Music Technology at College which is where I learned a lot of the stuff I know. I don't really know of any handy guides, sorry to be so unhelpful! Keep plugging away, Logic's not as hard to learn as the other giants.
@YourCheckeredLove I just saw that you used the graphical tool. But don't you have to use the other settings too? Like the tuning speed, formant ammount, and such?
@YourCheckeredLove Yup, the retune speed is at zero so it follows the graph precisely as it is drawn. That's what takes all the natural vibratos out of it. It's a really nice effect!
@Goldcharms It's the graph setting in Antares EVO. You literally draw in the notes you want it to snap to. It's how you get all the portamento perfect.
Although I already commented I shall again this is awesome

I have a feeling i should probably know this, but what does recording the guitar "antiphonally" entail? Great cover btw!
sayhitom 1 year ago
@sayhitom I can't think of how to explain it...
It just means there's no gap in the whole phrase because all the chords sound directly after the last.

So does owl city use logic or reason?
Iceboy575655 1 year ago
@Iceboy575655 He used to use Reason 2.5. He uses Pro Tools 8 now.
macgeek27 1 year ago
@macgeek27 He still uses Reason through Pro Tools via ReWire. Pro Tools does all his clever spacial effects and mixing.
sheps145 1 year ago
@Iceboy575655 Reason. Then into Pro Tools with Rewire.
