  • I am always glad to see the Royal Marine Band, having seen them live in 1986 in New York City at Madison Square Garden. Britons and Americans are brothers, including the occasional stupid quarrel over bragging rights. The USMC Band is also very good, but has a different tone because it has a different makeup.

  • cool beans

  • yeahhh go canada!!!

  • @citrixfruit Seems to be a slow rendition of "I Vow to Thee, My Country"

  • @davesmunroe I think it is Jupiter by Holst.

    Spent weeks researching haha.

  • @citrixfruit That would be correct, as Jupiter by Holst is the tune for I Vow to Thee my Country, so we're on the same page

  • @davesmunroe Yea i always wondered why it was the same tune, my school band played it today for the Remembrance Day assembly.

  • What's the song name @ 4:00?

  • @ glenne001 the first march is entitled 'Soldier 'n' Sailor, Too'

  • what's the name of the first march?

  • Great Video. Loved Gibraltar at the end. Brings back memories of SCSTC HMCS Acadia School of Music

  • Besides that the Royal Marines are the best

    V

  • drum major leap or faith at 7:29 haha

  • I prefer the U.S. Marines' performace but the Royal Marines are great, no questions asked!

  • @we3575 HM Royal Marines are the best in the world!

  • @WhitakerSJA Hahahaha.... no -___-

  • @WhitakerSJA Yeah U.S. Marines are better, sorry if I hurt your feelings :'(

  • @we3575 hahaha well iguess we'll have to agree to disagree! :P

  • @WhitakerSJA I'll agree to that :p

  • @we3575 lol you tit

  • @WhitakerSJA we3575 is an idiot the US marines use multiple different metal instruments of which are the same but it makes it look messy having silver and gold plated trombones for example the Royal Marines use the same coloured instruments as each other so its less messy

  • 1989dramon is an idiot... nuff said

  • @we3575 Your not fucking offensive are you. I was just giving my opinion you fucking prick learn to respect us as Americans use the english language so haha

  • @1989dramon thats a great use of the english language. you are a disgrace to america.

  • @MrJimmyboy1972 im fucking english u retard thanks i live there thats offensive to me and my family so STFU. Also my dad used to be in the Coldstream Guards thank you very much. Ever thought of looking on my channel it says country:England please fucking read it before typing thanks mr thinks he knows everything.

  • @1989dramon i might have known. foul and abusive language, only, an englishman could post this. calling people retards is a north american thing. your dad should be ashamed that you mentioned he was a member of the coldstream guards. i would never visit your channel in a million years. look at england now, riots, looting, murders. not one incidence of anything like that in scotland, ireland, wales, its an english thing. ps. they sent the scottish coppers down and it stopped immediately.

  • @MrJimmyboy1972 my dad is better than you at least so lets end there dick. I do not want to hear any more offensive comments thanks stop messaging me and i will stop

  • @1989dramon my dads better than your dad, what a wimp. you said you didnt want any offensive comments, yet you call me a dick. that says it all. naughty boy. take 100 lines......Haaaa! loser.

  • @we3575 i want to throw both of you out as a pair of idiots

  • @MrJimmyboy1972 gidngingiangdabuibiabi

  • @we3575 lol

  • The first march is A SOLDIER AND SAILOR TOO,2nd I VOW TO THE MY COUNTRY,3rd GIBRALTAR. I love the sound of a British Military Band, the Royal Marines are my favorite,as well as the Coldstream,Scots, and Grenadier Guards.

  • Splendid video. HM Royal Marines are the worlds finest Military Band bar none. They set the standard.BY THE WAY.. It is still THE ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY Canada's Army, Navy And Royal Canadian Air Force pledge alliance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II when they join and take the oath. Therefore,we are Her Majesty's Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen and women. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

  • I love that the Canadians wear the same uniform as the british.

  • @Pre114 Its what they wore back in the Empire. Just instead of Red they are wearing black. And Canadians love their British Heritage so it makes sense for them to do similar things.

Plus they are representing the Queen so im guessing the black is the bands colour around the world.

  • @ViDeOMaStErPaUl its not black its blue....a dark navy blue and only Guard No1 Dress that is red.

  • @Pre114 they dont this is the british performing

  • @Pre114 We used to ba a british nation what do you think idiot

  • @MrDanmeyers This clip was shot with my old camera which had some problems which were fixed later. Nowadays, I used a Sony VG10, all digital and perfomed beautifully.

  • love the integration of the HTS with the 95S's, i've heard the New RMBS Drums will be Pearl? could anyone clarify this or say what specific model they are going for?

  • @TheDrummerboi94 Correct

  • Whereas there is no doubt as to the technical ability of the US Marine band I'm afraid I didn't like their display which I feel owed more to some Mid-West college "Marching Band" at a football game than to the Military Band of an élite corps. As for the tableaux of Iwo Jima at the end.,words fail me frankly. I suggest they get rid of the" flummery" and return to their roots. They could do worse than to model themselves on the RM Band in fact, impressively smart, dignified and superb musicians.

  • @paddy864 Careful there Paddy. When one looks down there nose, one intends to become crosseyed, then dizzy, and followed by an embarrasing fall. Is flummary really a word in the kings english?

  • Well I'm sorry that you find my well-intentioned criticism to be nothing more than me "looking down my nose". That wasn't my intention and on re-reading my initial post I'm genuinely surprised that you think that way. I referred to them as an éite corps and noted their technical ability, I just didn't like their display. As for "Flummery", my dictionary gives two definitions, 1) A bland custard or pudding, especially of oatmeal. 2) Meaningless ceremonies and flattery. Take your pick?

  • @YARROWS you will find nearly 50% of the bands are now female... proving we can do just as well and in some cases a better job than the guys :)

  • I'm on this :) Playing french horn :) the shortass one!! so good to see this on here!! thankyou!

    Linz

  • @linseyc83 What particular band Shorta oops I mean Linz Portsmouth,Scotland (Arbroath etc)

By the way a first class performance as usual, but I dont expect anything less from you cabbage tops.

  • what is the second tune called where the band slow marched to ? this was amazing

  • @dealsas It's actually a slow march version of Holst's Thaxted melody from his Jupiter symphony.

Also known as I Vow To Thee My Country, I've just never heard it as a slow march before. Very cool and typical of the Royal Marines to pull it off so perfectly.

  • @brianjca Also known as World in Union, its been a Slow March for years, played it last saturday as part of the Folkestone/New Romney SCC combined band plus yours truly as solo bugler and side drummer from Ashford at the Youth festival of Remembrance in Folkestone

  • You cut out the last half of that piece, "Gibraltar"!! Lame!! What else was lame was the fact that the host city's very own Military band was snuffed from performing a marching display.

  • Video-wise, that was it. I took some photos while the Royal Marines were standing still to play some music.

  • @RayVanEng And your camera interfered with the digital recorder. This is why it's all choppy and has split second choppy parts. This is why I continue to use my Camcorder.

  • Brilliant! Have you got footage of the rest of the Royal Marines performance? Can't seem to find the whole thing anywhere.

  • Woman don't look right in these bands.

  • lol they called that the hits of the blitz, was at the show that day :D

  • Thank you, all. There'll be more from the Centennial Tattoo show. In fact, I am uploading two rigth now.

  • WOW This only took place 2 days ago. Congratulations to the poster it s a very professional production. I was there and it was a great show. The US Marine band from Hawaii, and The Canadian Navy Naden band were there as well. All the bands were great. Their styles were very different.

  • Our Relatives from across the Atlantic!, they are spectacular!

  • nice show.........^-^
