  • I found this video in my "popular" tab on my YouTube homepage. Y so many Views?!?! *instert meme here*

  • Is there an explanation for this phenomena?

  • @cory2146 Absolutely - I posted a bunch of info in the video details for your reference... :-) Thanks for checking it out!

  • ceeecily

  • looks like a reflection on a lake. cool catch. groovy tags too....

    take care

  • @UPTHElRS I'm hoping for more of these kinds of clouds as the cooler months approach... Thanks for stopping by! =)

  • Nice effect, what software did you use? It sure looked like water effect in one part :D as if it was 3d Max 8 :D

  • This is actual video of a real natural event, shot with a DV camcorder. I extracted frames from tape at the rate of 1 frame every second, and then made those frames back into video In order to speed it up. I think the contrast was boosted slightly in the camera during the original recording, but otherwise there is no CGI. Except for the speed-up, this is how it looked in real life - it was quite the show! :-)

  • mother nature made this? well, sort of..

  • I think "sort-of" is a good reference... Even though the formation causes/mechanics of this type of cloud is well documented, understood, and was described/categorized by science well before HAARP, Tesla, and other RF/atmospheric tampering by mankind, the effects of such programs/human activities could indeed influence the frequency, duration and intensity of them, although it would be difficult to prove/measure with any certainty. Fortunately they are fairly harmless formations :-) Cheers!

  • made by HAARP...

  • @MATIxDxDxDxD

    No, NOTHING todo with haarp.

This is the result of natural physics.

  • Thats awesome, its lucky that you got it with the sunset!

  • Definitely! Those under-lit Lenticulars are my favorites. It can be a common formation here but they usually evaporate before sunset. :-) Thanks for checking it out!

  • Cool

  • Thanks for checking it out! =)

  • Mother Nature's always out to impress. <3

    Amazing video.

  • Indeed there's some amazing things in nature :-) Thanks for stopping by!

  • wwow! that is so neat, great natural art work with the video!!

  • Glad you liked it - thanks for checking it out! =)

  • Nice Cloud Formations

    RAM Media

  • Thanks for checkig them out :-)

  • Amazing.

  • Glad you enjoyed - thanks for stopping by! :-)

  • yeah..excellent video...it's sad that noone notice that!

    Our sky is a hologram...remeber 21.12.2012!

the year of the huge transformation!

    YEAH!!!

  • Wow this is amazing!!

  • Thanks so much for watching - gld you enjoyed the show! =)

  • Really nice! I would be totally creeped out by those! Beautiful footage.

  • Thanks for checking it out! Fortunately, these are pretty safe clouds that don't really do anything except look weird! :-)

  • thats weird..

  • Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • how are they form? and why not they move like other clouds from one place to other instead just positioned at one place only?

  • These clouds are also known as "standing wave" clouds, because they form at the peaks of airwaves, which are flowing over mountain ranges. There is a lot more info in the video details box :-)

  • Stunning says it all!

  • Thanks so much for the view and nice comment! Cheers! =)

  • what were the clouds above? Industry? Petrochemical plant? Nuclear reactor? Please tell me. thx

  • Actually, there is no industry at all, and very little populated area below these clouds. They formed at high altitude just downwind of a small mountain range, as lenticular clouds typically do. There is some detail in the vid description about how they form and what causes them. As scary-looking as they are, they are 100% natural formations, and were described/named in the 19th centery, long before before electricity and modern industry. It's fascinating stuff! :-)

  • This is great, i love this timelapse!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the show! Thanks for visiting =)

  • woah

  • Thanks for watching! =)

  • Comment removed

  • Wait a Second, Clouds aint moving when wind blows???

  • There is some better info in the vid details, but basically the cloud is forming at the high-altitude peak of a standing wave of air, like a rapid in a river. It you watch it carefully, you can see the cloud forming on the upwind edge, and evaporating on the downwind edge. Thanks for checking it out! :-)

  • @jcmegabyte Ahw right!! Thanks. =D

  • amazing

  • Thanks for watching! :-)

  • I was one of the lucky ones to have been there that day driving around and took some photograps.. it was those exact 2 clouds :D

  • It was a pretty cool show! One other YouTube user (that I know of) got some good pics of it too - she posted the vid as a response to this one. Cheers! :-)

  • That's a great description! Thanks for posting :-)

  • creepy in a way, but really amazing footage!!!

  • These clouds can really freak some people out - especially if they're presented in a scary or ominous way :-) Fortunately, their cause is quite natural and pretty well documented, especially among meterologists and aviators. It's particularly cool when they are lit-up by the sunset like this. Cheers! :-)

  • ufo here because they must searching someone... or their friend.

  • All your vids are full of them.

    Take Care,

    Love

    Louie

  • you should call it "red blood cell dying"

  • It does sort of look corpuscular! XD Thanks for visiting! :-)

  • Amazing capture!!!!! thanks for share

  • Glad you enjoyed - thanks for the view and nice comment :-)

  • phenomene appelé concentration atmosphérique

  • Thanks so much for watching =)

  • I would never want to look at clouds again. :(

  • good thing you said that it was some clouds than saying it was a uf0

  • Definitely! XD - it would be pretty hard to pass this off as an actual UFO, but it's funny how so many people really think these kinds of clouds have something to do with spacecraft or UFO activity!

    Thanks for visiting :-)

  • Nice Very Nice.

  • Thanks for watching! I'm hoping for more of these shows in fall and winter :-)

  • ahhh yes, the clouds that may be looking back at us. great vid yo, glad to see that not everyone has become a domesticated mooman.....hardeehar

  • Thanks for checking it out! =)

  • Well, there's something you don't see everyday...

    Nice video! :)

  • Indeed - we're lucky to get these clouds once or twice each year, and particularly lucky if they stick around for sunset. :-) Thanks for watching!

  • @jcmegabyte

    No problem... ^_^

  • whooh!!! It's moving and fading. That fast? how true is this?

  • Interesting cloud, isn't it? This is a time lapse so it appears to be moving much faster than it did at real life speed (realtime), but it is a real Lenticular cloud, under-lit by the sunset. There are some details and links to diagrams about how these clouds work in the UFO cloud vid playing on my main (jcmegabyte) channel :-)

  • @jcmegabyte yeah, very interesting!

  • Super awesome

  • Thanks for checking it out! =)

  • hiding UFOS shapes with clouds, wow, our government really cares for us.

  • Something is inside those clouds. Something is holding them together like glue. Ether glue from a Tesla ether ship. Einstein lied. William Reich had a cloud buster, most likely a sky to earth grounding, that dislodged a saucer in hover as everyone ran to help the crew the camera man ran dropping the camera. Have not seen that footage in awhile. Setting up a Earth to ionosphere electrostatic - pressure wave might describe the flight method ascribed to Tesla. Tesla solves mysteries these days.

  • And inside are cylinder and saucer ufos if you kept the film rolling.

  • I kept rolling 'til dark, and the darned things never did come out. Better luck next time I guess! XD

  • Very beautiful and so amazing!

  • Thanks so much for checking it out! :-)

  • oh is inside off that faking Cloud

  • fake and gay

  • @jaudyflores true and nice

  • Wow so amazing.

    Thank you

  • Happy to hear you enjoyed this one - nature's great shows in the sky! Cheers! :-)

  • This is a very cool shot! Thanks for uploading! I like those cloud pictures...

    5*****

    Greetings

  • My pleasure - glad you enjoyed! :-)

  • It looks nice. :-D

But these clouds are apparently faked. O_O

  • Actually these kinds of clouds are fairly common in mountainous areas - just Google "lenticular" to see tons of examples. This footage was filmed with a MiniDV recorder and frame-captured to make the time lapse. It appeared just as shown here in real life and was visible to most of Ventura County.

  • This is magnificent. THANKS. Still,it would be nice if they were ufos. it is time that the herd be thinned.start with the tea baggers.

  • Hi just curious but what camera did you use for this? Thanks!

  • This older footage was shot with a JVC MiniDV camcorder, then frame-captured from tape to make the timelapse. I use all digital still cameras now to make my HD sequences. :-)

  • they look like mini hurricanes.

  • They are about a big as a medium-sized city, too!

  • They are undrestimating us...

  • I've seen a lenticular cloud over Mt. Ranier. Very cool.

  • You should get some really spectacular ones over Ranier - cone-shaped mountains do tend to produce some nice formations... Do take pics! :-)

  • very very good sir. in addition, are you familiar with steven greer and/or how to peaceably make contact?

  • Thanks for checking this out. Unfortunately, I don't know who that is or how to contact him... Sorry! :-)

  • Nice video of cloud formations. I also like the way you sped up the video . I like that effect.

  • Thanks for watching :-) These Lenticular formations are some of my favorites, and I'm always watching for more days like this, with time lapse camera ready :-)

  • I WISH I had software cool enough to generate video this realistic! Since the cloud is stationary and undulating a bit, the footage may look looped, but each frame is different... The cloud shape, passing high clouds and lighting changes quite a bit as the sun sets. I shot this footage in my yard with JVC MiniDV camcorders on tripods. Frames captured every 1 sec from the tape were then assembled into time lapse video. There are links to two other camera angles in the vid description. =)

  • thhhhhissss is ammmmazzzing!!! U R Amazing!! u blow my mind!!! I would love to see your stills!! Wow... Fantastic

  • This particular event was pretty spectacular (especially in person) and it would have been difficult to shoot any bad pictures of this sight! I am always watching the skies for more lenticular formations like this and will be sure to get it all on video!

Thanks so much for watching and the nice comment! :-)

  • Awesome footage! Good clear description too, thanks!

  • Thanks for checking it out! =)

  • Cool cloud formations. I love this stuff. Very nice job with the time lapse.

  • Definitely - Lenticulars are some of my favorites and I'm always watching for more days like this one. Thanks for watching! =)

  • Ok, this one I like a bit too much :D

    Nice!!!

  • I'm hoping for more days like this when winter/spring comes around this season... very cool clouds to time lapse. :-)

  • It's called a *Lenticular cloud formation*. But, I question the authenticity of this video. Looks kind of fake

  • It's the real thing - Altostratus lenticularis. This time lapse sequence was frame captured from MiniDV tape which I shot myself. There are a couple of other videos on this channel, shot with different cameras, that show the evolution of this particular formation from earlier in the day. I have quite a few stills as well. It was quite an evening for skywatching, and the sunset was really spectacular. Thanks for checking it out =)

  • lol... so funny... studip graphic.

  • that is so neat!

  • I definitely like these kinds of clouds - they happen once every 1-2 years here and I'm always watching for them with camera ready! Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • Stunning! Thankyou

  • So glad you enjoyed - Thanks for watching :-)

  • They make me think of blood cells.

    Nice video.

  • They do kinda look like giant corpuscles in the sky! Thanks for watching :-)

  • UFO explained:o)

  • At least THIS one is! :-) thanks for watching!

  • That was awesome! Great footage!

  • Thanks for watching! We get these conditions here a couple times per year so I'm eagerly awaiting the next event with camera ready! :-)

  • incredible

  • Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • pretty cool.

  • Thanks for checking it out! :-)

  • wtf duz diz have to do wit a ufo??

  • Some people see these clouds hovering there and run for their lives, thinking that saucers are coming. Go figure! Hahahhaa XD

  • the clouds never moved!

  • It's true - these clouds sit at the top of what's called a "standing wave" and don't move much. There is more info in the video details about how they form and what causes them. Thanks for watching! :-)

  • Plain awesome!! Thanks for putting this up! And I hope that you always have the camera ready in the future too ;)

  • I usually do, and I'm always watching for lenticular events like this. Thanks for the view and nice comment. =)

  • Just looking at the first few seconds, it looked as if God saw Bo Derek in a rerun and decided to offer a score.

  • Indeed! :-)

  • HAARP, High frequency Active Auroral Research Project. Is the first thing that comes to mind.

Do you know what this cloud is called???

    Unbelievable capture!

  • Fortunately, this type of cloud, known as a "lenticular" formation is a purely natural phenomanon. They are often called UFO clouds because of their peculiar shape. When the lighting is just right, such as at sunset, they appear to be solid objects! Lenticulars are fairly common in mountainous areas. The surface terrain deflects moist air up where it temporarily condences at its peak, then descends and evaporates. It's a coninuous thing, just like a stone makes a standing wave in a stream. :-)

  • wow, you can actually see the wind!

  • Thats the cool thing about clouds - they make the air more-or-less visible :-) What's really amazing is that those clouds are the size of small cities! :-0

    Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • what is pinticular or is there such a cloud?

  • I've never heard of that term (and neither has Google!) ..."lenticular" is as close as I know of as far as cloud type go. :-).

  • Looks really great..

  • This is one of my favorite lenticular sequences - these clouds are fairly rare here but I keep watching for more, video camera ready! Thanks for watching :-)

  • In can tell that is computer animated. There is a website on how to do things like this.

  • I'd like to see something that could animate this well. I recorded this natural event myself in the sky over Santa Clarita with a MiniDV camcorder - I also took a bunch of stills at much higher resolution. Additionally, I had two other cameras rolling with different angles - you can see it forming earlier in the day here (not as good though)

    watch?v=h1uFcbbuB_8

    watch?v=hOlLAIZhSHg

...I still have the original frames from the camcorder too. :-)

  • Really special and beautiful, thanks!

  • This formation was really amazing to see in real life. Glad I was able to capture it for everyone to see! Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lots more of this sort of thing coming - as soon as nature puts some more of them up in the sky, I'll be right there to shoot them :-)

  • Amazing time lapse! Love this sort of clouds in time lapse.

  • nice

  • Thanks for checking it out :-)

  • wow! fascinant!

  • Thanks so much for the view and comment :-)

  • Wow, that was amazing :D

  • That cloud was fascinating to watch in real life too, although it didn't seem to move much in realtime. I have a few very hi res still of it as well. :-) Thanks for watching!

  • How about the pictures resolution for this movie? If it was 1280x720 or more, you can upload it as an HD video here ;)

  • This one was only recorded at 720x480 (I didn't have my HD equipment then), but I did use an up-converted/enhanced version of it at the end of my Stitching the Sky remake video. Watch the very end of ?v=gXl3T9FYKBw&fmt=22 for the best quality version of this sequence. :-)

  • Wow!!!, Great!!!!, thanks JasonWardStudios for sharing!!, Kisses!!!

  • Thanks for stopping by to check it out :-)

  • Awesome :D

  • Thanks for watching! :-)

  • Awesome clouds, thanks,5*!!!M.I.

  • It really was a cool formation. I'm bummed now that I didn't have HD equipment back then. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)

  • Great!

  • Thanks for stopping by to check it out! :-)

  • ¡qué bueno! me ha gustado muchísimo

  • So glad you enjoyed this one - thanks for watching! =)

  • Tremendo, precioso los momentos recojidos, gracias.

  • Glad you enjoyed - thanks for stopping by to watch! =)

  • Me lo llevo

    Kass

  • Thanks a bunch for watching and sommenting! :-)

  • A Truly Remarkable Creation!

  • Thanks! I keep watching for more days with formations like this. I've missed a few but I'm better prepared now! :-)

  • Así a cámara rápida, esos cúmulos parecen reflejos de agua en el cielo, sorprendente y bello *****

  • Thank you so much for watching and the nice comment! :-)
