  • I love him so much , I'm a woman and miss him and feel just like him

  • I m depressed all the time until I hear kurt's voice

  • What is the Film he is talking about at 2:36 ...like how is it spelled so I can look it up? ...anyone know?

  • i agree with the person below mee. V RIP KURdT COBAIN FEB 20 1967-APRIL 5 1994

  • anyone who appreciates nirvana or the life and talent of kurt cobain should def watch About a son. im not a huge nirvana fan but the way the documentary is shot with mostly still images of the places that kurt mentions during the interview, makes for a unique and haunting experience. the soundtrack is pretty much all the music that he says inspired him. its a great biopic.

  • awesome

  • I'm a serious sociology policy researcher who "grew up" in west america where logging and agriculture are common [santa cruz CA] and KURT COBAIN -"true left handed-er" and very NOTISABLY LEFTY & IRISH is part of a statistical normative prime case study A.N.N.Y.T. like a social safety NET, for AT RISK YOUTH, a student exchange teenage specific POLICY RECOMMENDATION,

"into the wild" real life character [& actor GEO-anomaly...] is his nearly real time doppleganger!!! an IDEAL EXCHANGE!

  • @brennanmoriarty You do know that Kurt was right handed and only played guitar right?

  • @brennanmoriarty Only played guitar left handed that is.

  • @arrelite. Yes!! Me too. I was born in 1994 and would give anything to live in the 70s or something man.... I love Kurt. Forever :)

  • I remember I got into Nirvana when I was 7 (when Kurt died). I have been a huge fan ever since. There is no question that Nirvana is a major influence on my musical style.

I may be a depressed mess, but listening to Nirvana Albums brighten my day up even if they remind me of the reason I am depressed.

  • @RadioFriendlyNoise DUD I heard him in 1994 Come as you are on the radio I was 7 years old too man....... From now on I'd remember the sound for the rest of my life but didn'd knew the name of the song till 2006 and didn't knew Nirvana till 2002 when my cousins talk about it and the suicide when I was in vacations.

  • @RadioFriendlyNoise "Nirvana" that name sounds like something epic........then years later I understand it was an spiritual state and also in 1994 knew that DOOM 2 has the nirvana map so it was weird!!!!!!

I'm guessing you born in 87 and now you are 22 years old like me!!!!

  • the money will roll right in

  • I was born in 94, didn get to experience anything, music these days suck ass, my favourite band is the rolling stones and musically I couldn't have chosen a worse decade to get born in.. GOD!! I mean.. cmon!

  • @arrelite well if you say the 90's (with Smashing Pumpkins Garbage Soundgarden Radiohead K's Choice Alice in Chains and all the others) was shit you missed out a lot man.Only after 2000 rock music got really fucked in the ass

  • EAT SHIT! YAY!

  • what a great documentary

  • The internet wasn't really common-place till '94. So as a fan of nirvana starting in '91... info about them was pretty hard to come by. MTV or an article here and there in some teen or music magazine was about as good as it got. Sometimes the pictures and linear notes inside sleeve of a CD was our only "connection" to a band. The way they used blurred images only amped up the curiosity. Don't think I knew what kurt's face looked like till '93.

  • Well, I was a teenage back then and I knew what he looked like right off because there were pictures of him in every magazine when Nirvana and "grunge" broke.

  • There has been some rewriting of history over the last 15 years. For example, Dave has gained a lot of attention due to his successful career with Foo Fighters. And even though he did contribute with his backup vocals and great drumming, Krist and Kurt were really the flag-ships of the band back then. I'd compare them to like Axl and Slash... that level of dual presence for the band. Dave was largely the silent member at that time.

  • I've had an itch to tell current generations what it was like back then as it was happening. For example, there were still plenty of remnants from the 80s still around till '93 or even '95. Plenty of 80s styled clothing. It wasn't like in '91 everything changed over night. There was still plenty of 80s macho attitudes left over. The seniors bred on 80s didn't quite "get us". They thought we were wimps.

  • I love what producer said at the end. I was 14 when nevermind came out and we all fell in love with Nevermind for it's energy, mystery, "water vibe", humor... all positive and dreamy stuff... not drug addition, suicide, or depression.

  • Where can I find About A Son?

  • Blockbuster used to have it, or you can check through Amazon online.

  • netflix does have it

  • i got my copy at hot topic

  • about a son was a great film, very intimate and insightful.

  • ABOUT A SON was based on the same interviews that Michael Azzerad conducted with Kurt for COME AS YOU ARE. It's almost like hearing the book verbally to watch that film.

  • Amazing! I'll check it out when I can find a copy!

    -Cal

  • what her name ?hot , , iIwant those ful 24 hours, anyone has it ?

  • God, this man was amazing. He still holds a powerful influence over the music industry and the people of today fifteen years after his death. You can't find many people who can do that nowadays. Kurt Cobain was a rare and amazing person and the world misses him greatly. I need to buy this movie, I want to understand him more. R.I.P. Kurt.

  • Read Michael's book, COME AS YOU ARE, it gives a lot of insight into Kurt and Nirvana.

  • I've been looking for that for a really long time but I can't find it. Do you know where I can get a copy of it?

  • Did you try Amazon? I am re-reading it now.

  • No I haven't checked yet. I'll look soon though :) thanks

  • Is it more informative than Heavier than Heaven?

  • No comparison....if you like Nirvana, this is like their Bible, it is a very detailed, almost daily account of their lifespan. Great pictures too.

  • I don't like the "troubled childhood" stuff. They are still tryingn to figure out HOW was he so genius. KURT we f-ing miss you.

  • does anybody know where you can buy this documentary?!!?!?

  • Amazon! but you can watch it in google video....

  • oh yeah, way to support the art.

  • google took it of the wanks!!!

  • Stop talking and show us the damn movie.

  • i had posted the movie about half year ago but youtube had remove it !!! :(

  • thanks for posting I enjoyed About A Son.

  • ah, i love that movie. :)

    great film, great unbiased perspective.

  • Id prefered to have used kurts film fottage instead of all that they used, but anyway, this audio is great SOurce and i want those ful 24 hours, anyone has it ?

  • 5. your about 17 or 18 according to you sn

therefore you are probably not a psychologist

  • i misread my bad

BUT even if it was comfirmed as a sucide here are the facts 1 he was on three doses of heroine that is phisicly to much fot you oto be able to pick up a gun 2 he could nopt have shot himself with his feet because he was wearing shoes 3courtney love tried to pay someone to kill kurt but he didnt and admitted courtneys bribe to the press 4 there were no fingerprints on the gun so from him pulling the triger it would have caused him to grip the gun tighter or let it go

  • First off, he had the gun in the hand of the arm he shot heroin into, I know because I have about 4 Cobain biographies and they all say the same. He reached down with his thumb, so the shoe thing means nothing. I would LOVE to see where you got the "facts" of the Courtney-murder conspiracy junk theory (which there are too many to count by the way). The eye-witness report (on Court-TV) found finger-prints matching his DNA. He killed himself, it'll be a lot easier on you when you accept it.

  • Has anyone here actually seen About A Son? I have it on DVD. It's amazing!

  • Yeah i like when Kurt says people think I'm not happy or having a good time because I'm not smiling and he replies i am happy asshole.

  • Yeah, I remember that! That was hilarious!

  • wow. i have to see this!

  • in the trailer theres this song that starts at about 0:47 does anyone know the artist/title?

  • IS ABOUT A SON

    OUUT YET!?!

  • yer came out on march 31st

  • wtf,

why didnt i hear about this..

  • wel the dvd trailor was on u tube

  • yes, blockbuster has it, probably only a copy or two. Such amazing insight into Kurt's life, highly recommend!!!!

  • i met kurt new york in 93, saw them at roseland, and they were awesome. he was really nice and i got a pic and an autograph. never forget that. best band ever

  • if thats true, i envy you, i was still too young to have been able to meet him back then.

  • whatttt that is amazing!!!! I am so jealous. so were like 11 when you met him?

  • you should upload the pic and autograph somewhere

    that would be real cool

    lol

  • Its good to remember him in the way that he was funny, creative and happy.Like the times they went on tour, getting pissed, goofing around and having a laugh. He had a good sense of humour but i dont like the way the media has portrayed him as this deppressed junkie etc,its bullshit! And there is still good music out there...Kings of Leon to name one, fucking normal hillbilly guys on guitar playing kick ass songs....

  • @flashywings66 kings of leon WERE alright but they sold out bigtime

  • i was gonna thumbs up your comment but then u ruined it with the kings of leon comparison

  • Is it out?

  • yes came out at the end of march

  • the clip they show at school the boy who is supposely him i guess? doesnt seem like what id imagine kurt to look like during his high school years...i havent seen this movie yet, but it looks good but ive heard good and bad reviews

  • hi if anyone was looking for this (like I was)

    GREAT NEWS

i just bought this DVD at my local Wal-Mart

it's very great...it made me veeeeery teary eyed

    and it was only $11.88

    so....

    :)

  • good for you. lol.

  • awesome i was wonderibg if it was there

  • kurt is not dead I think he lives in every single heart of his fans I love Nirvana, it is a shame that music nowadays is just bullshit.

  • amen

  • double amen

  • triple amen

  • quadruple amen

  • Exactly.

  • It ISN'T BULLSHIT! Jesus Christ, just because a good musician dies doesn't mean the shows over! There have been tons of talented artists since then. You guys would love to be Jethro Tull fans cause you all seem to love to "live in the past". Get a grip. Its your opinion but still, people like you need to grow a pair and find some newr music you like. Honor what Nirvana was , don't shun it.

  • music now sucks its just printed out of a computer before it used to be like a poetry and it shouldnt be about liking wats in style just doin ur own thing

  • Do you even know what you are talking about? My point was simply that there are good bands around still and there are some good new ones. I know that years down the road I don't want to look back at this era of my life and say that I didn't have any music from my generation that I liked. It would be embarrassing at that. Do what you want but all I am saying is that living too much in the past to me makes me feel dead inside. I have found new artist and new-ish artists that I like.

  • actually that's only mainstream "HEY PUT ME ON A MAGAZINE" music. Bossk, jesu, sunn0))), mastodon, boris and others are the best bands around these days (apart from the older ones)

  • Yeah what I want is real music television back. Its liek peopel have stopped diggin really getting into music. Its too much superficial shit now bling bling and sweet 16 f*ckin crazy man

  • Every time I turn on MTV U (The only REAL MTV left)I see a majority of artists that I don't recognize along side some really good ones ie: Murs, Jane's Addiction. Otherwise they all sound like the same band singing about nothing. It just seems to me that the bands that MTV endorses anymore are using music as a fashion statement and nothing more to set the "hip" vibe. But "integrity" and cool of the rock star image was never returned to it's former glory.

  • @erdeti ummmmmmmmm it's called alt rock and indie music. When Kurt had started up glam metal, had taken over the pop charts, and that was considered shit, by some, and still is, however there are people who still listen to it.

  • Yes he was a drug addict & was depressed

    but it wasn't suicide.

    The Truth.RIP Kurt.

  • This interview should've been included as an extra on the dvd.

    Kurt will always be remembered.

  • I got this dvd a couple of days ago and I think its awesome.I was mesmerised the whole way through, you really feel like your watching this through Kurt's eyes.Kurt comes across so well and I SO see life through Kurt's prospective, feel forever sad he is gone but his music and spirit will forever live on.

RIP Kurt and may love and peace always be with you!

  • Very intresting. I didn't know MIcheal Azerrad was involved in this movie wow. Can't wait to see the DVD.

  • Aww! i would of bin his mate at school =]] lolz, but i wasnt even alive then :P

    x

he was a great guy, realy sensitive too =]

    Just beautiful

    x

  • Amen!

  • comes out on dvd this month! wooo

  • Michael Azerrad writes amazing articles

  • Me too. I love Michael Azerrad he is such a fantastic writer.

  • when this come out

  • when you live in washington, seattle, people assume you love nirvana... but most of us do.

  • It's really great movie about my favorite guy Kurt Cobain. Rest in peace Kurt.

  • It is a great movie, by the end of it I found myself wanting to cry.

  • Ive got this, anyone want me to put it up on you tube?

  • yes

  • Yes!!!!

  • Yes!! Lol

  • where can I find this documentary?

  • its true.. there is so many people walking nd talking. speculation is coming from our expierences not his, theres no such person as him anymore.. except people who are alive today who want to relate. it looks good

  • About a son is an incredible film

    thanks for the interview

  • I'm in this movie. we filmed it 2 years ago and I still have yet to see it lol

  • yeah...thats what i thought too!!

  • Kurt Cobain in every interview mentions 80's new wave and pop music, genres that r making a comeback now in the urban scene. But thats what influenced his riffs and beatle-esque like melodies. Blondie, madonna etc. look at the facts not the hype.

  • That 'Come As You Are' biography is the best one. It was the first biography to come out before all these other journalists started rushing to put out biographies. 'Come as you are' by michael azzerad is loads better than say the 'heavier than heaven' biography. 'come as you are' is a must have for any Nirvana fan.

  • i'm really pleased by the last thing the filmaker touched on, that the most important things about kurt didn't have anything to do with courtney or anything like that. kurt was such a BEAUTIFUL and talented person with great values, that left him somewhat tortured. he had such a beautiful soul, which seems to be lost on a lot of people. and i have to say that any negativity brought up by his fans is not going to change things.

  • i totally agree! im so glad this documentary shows that, all the rumors/controversy aside, kurt was a really genuine person.

  • Kurt was friends with Michael Azzerad...

He's the one that recorded stuff.

  • did it already come out in the U.S.?

  • does anyone know if this is comming out on dvd or anything.

because im sure they wont have it in australia.

  • yer im from australia i want it though

  • I am so glad that people remember Kurt... that people want to rememeber fondly...

  • wait so this video is going to be the audio tapes and just a bunch of random pictures?? nothing to do with nirvana...what about the actor they got?

  • fuck...missed the showing off it in NY :-(

  • Kurt's music and life gave hope to thousands by reflecting the fact that success was possible without selling out or altering one's personality...

  • he um will this come out on dvd

  • its out only in certain theathres in New york philly and major city its part of toronto film festifal

  • i can't wait to see it

  • know when it comes out??

  • i know it comes out this month, but im not sure if it already came out or is gonna come out and i want to see it
