Well when I saw 24 Hour Party People I think Ian was portrayed in a more positive light (i.e. that scene where Steve Coogan (Tony Wilson) says that Ian was not a depressive figure). But I think Control gives a very in depth portrayal of Ian. I love both movies, but I think Control was better than 24 Hour Party People in terms of portraying Joy Division. After all Control is all about Joy Division. And there's more to tell in this film in terms of Joy Division.

Why did Sam Riely talk so camp in this film? Ian Curtis didnt talk like julien fuckin Clarey surley. Also he had a yorkshire accent, I think he is from Leeds, He could've at least put on the manc accent. I think Sean Harris did better as Ian in 24 hour part people. Also Sam Reily did the singin himself which sounded nothin like Ians voice. Mabey if he'd mimmed to Ians voice it would've sounded convinicing. I caught this flim about two weeks ago and I think it is an amazing look at the band and as the falling down of Ian Curtis was a dark moment in the history of music, the way it was shot in black and white made me feel like I was there for the ride.
