Your dumb, f tape and you should use sanded caulk on metal your floor comes in contact with especially if it is an exterior wall, (door, window seal, exedra) I disagree with "yollgully" i don't feel all perimeter should be caulked QR should be used where ever passable, but any grout lines that come in contact with a wall were QR is not an option sanded caulk is your best selection.
Stop being so sloppy when you lay the tile and you won't have so much thin set to clean out of the grout lines. lol...yeah...I know it happens
If you adding baseboard you don't need the tape and like someone else said...you should really chalk the perimeter...this depends upon many factors, buy it's better to be safe than have to go back!
Thank you so much for all the helpful videos. I did not complete all the tiling I began last summer and recently I had a chance to begin finishing the project. Unfortunately I forgot several steps and my friend who guided me last year has since moved. Your videos cover all the steps and take into account problems the weekend warrior may run into. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us as it has helped build my confidence and cut down anxieties.
Any decent tiler will clean off adhesive in joints when still wet, as for digging it out with a knife & hoovering it out.If a customer walked in & saw you going at it with a stanley knife what are they going to think!
Agreed 100% ....it is much easier to wipe off the tile edge while your laying them ...ok...you may miss a few, but even scuff pad should take off the thin set at this point......a knife ??? Crazy!

Must take you ages to complete a floor.
Wouldn't it be easier to clean any excess adhesive of when it is wet?

Floor perimeter should be caulked for expansion, no grout.
