This video has without a doubt the best audio quality of any marimba solo that I've ever heard on YouTube. This truly does this particular solo justice, as well as the supplemental pictures. These sorts of videos, as rare as they are, remind me that I'm a marimbist. You should be proud of this one. Thank you.
@alexeipaish This really is one of the most expensive marimba solos I've bought (twice as much as most), but it's worth every penny. I bought 7 or 8 other solos to go along with it, and this is the one I'm most excited about learning and performing.
Im using a 4 octave, there are some notes in the first half that need transposing up an octave. but then in the second half it modulates to F major, so that becomes quite a pain seeing as my marimba goes as low as an A. Its a bit more of a workout for the left hand but nothing too prohibitive :)
could you tell me anything about how exactly the marimba was recorded? close mics, hall mics, or a combination? If you don't know any specifics no worries. This performance was beautiful, thanks for sharing!
Hello! I love the music and pictures compilation, but is there any chance we could get a video that shows your hands as you play this? The visual aspect of marimba is by far one of my favorites, and it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I wish there was a LOVE button! I'm a senior music major and was just informed that this will be the next piece up for the semester. Always loved the character of this piece and can't wait to make the notes come to life :)
I'm a sophomore in high school, and I will be playing this solo this year. You did a magnificent job of playing this solo. You've given me a great reference on how I should make this sound. Great job! Thanks a lot.
Best of luck learning it so young. It's a great piece. Make sure that you don't make the same mistake as most young students, and really bring out the musicality of the piece that it's really begging for (this video does an amazing job of doing it). Basically, don't be fooled by the technical simplicity, and post a video when you're done learning it! :D
What mallets and marimba did you use in this recording?

Is there anyway this solo could be adapted for any marimba under 5-octaves?

And by the way, this is by far the best performance of Land on youtube. The pictures are really appreciated too.
