  • Inspirational. RIP Tommy Wonder.

  • absolutely fabulous card handling and forcing

  • Most original way ever of disguising the Classic Force

  • ricky jay.

  • This routine is outstanding. I met Tommy Wonder in the UK when I was 10 and he performed Magic Ranch two feet away from me. The appearance of the egg completely blew me away. I met and spoke with him again many years later, not long before he died. One of the very few absolute masters of performance magic.

  • WTF!! Should I believe what I see? I don't know what to believe anymore. This guy is just amazing!! Fantastic performance.

  • Give him a top hat and a beard and....BAM! you got yourself an Abraham Lincoln look-a-like.

  • I watched this video to get tips on showmanship from Tommy - but I was so engaged by it I forgot to get tips and now im having to rewatch lol!

  • I love the look he gives that girl when he notices it's not the 4 of clubs. His acting is astonishing.

  • man THIS IS GOOD :D

  • wtf?!

  • Hi. Tommy Wonder has video and book explanations of all his effects.

You need both because the explanation is not the best.

You can get them at Misdirections magic shop in SF. You can call them or they have a website. Best to get the phone number and call Joe. He will get you what you need....Tell him Bob in San Rafael sent you....

    Best of Luck!

  • Bunk! the tamed card explanation in the first volume of the Books of Wonder, is given an entire chapter! More than enough insight to this routine is provided along with theory and related essays.

Full study of this man's material is suggested; but i laugh at the attempt to sell merch-no need for soliciting guy. btw in the book Tommy discusses vendors and how they impact magic.

  • did he died?

  • @ThorAusRotten

    yes, four years ago. Unfortunately.

  • hahaha i love david,he is the best spectator. His exspressions are great.Look at 0:13 how he looks at his watch when te alarm starts...

  • When did that black guy become the magicians OFFICIAL ASSISTANT?

  • That was amazing

  • It took me about 2 months to learn this routine. The books and video explanation is hard to understand but worth the work.....the problem is that I find myself using his accent in my patter...funny.

    Tommy was a genius.

  • @NITECOP983 can you point me towards a link with the explanation :) I'd really like to learn this routine :)

  • @pas22cal to learn this routine you can use the books of wonder volume 1.. it covers everything but its still very hard to preform and learn. I'm working on it atm :P

  • @NITECOP983 Indeed he was, RIP.

But do you mind if I ask you what video/book you can learn this from?

  • NNNN

  • Does he use Gimmicks?

  • If you have the Books of Wonder written by Stephen Minch. Or the DVD set from L&L publishing you will know how it works.

  • well gimmicks are usually used in this trick but me might not have

  • the best of the best

  • @TomMAGIChands

    more than that!

  • that was so darn good I didn't even bother checking out the hot babes in the audience ( like most l&l dvds ).

  • s the best introduction of this trick that have never seen.

  • he looks like willem dafoe lol

  • somebody plz tell me how to do that awesome trick

  • @peterkattukzee

    buy the dvd. Doesn't hurt.

  • Sleight of hand master.....RIP

P.S The girl in pink...omg.... ;DDDDD

  • It's his casual persona that make his magic so disarming and magical at the same time.

  • he do force the card, but is not like ur saying, there are some double lifts but theres no sleight of hand, this is a master piece u cant talk like this was a simple thing...show more respect!!!!!!

  • fuck you motherfucka! He is dead. Show respect or go to fuck.

  • oh my goodness, "all you need to do are some double lifts..." I'll wait for your youtube video and world tour. ...I'm waiting.

  • fuck you motherfucka

  • I was debating on buying Tommy Wonder's Visions of Wonder 3 DVD set or the new Bill Malone At it Again! DVD set. But after seeing this performance, I will undoubtedly buy the Vision of Wonder's DVD set.

  • You should. However, the card tricks you can do it, but be warn that some tricks in it are his original design and require some...'work'.

  • the misdirection is the sexy bird with the legs crossed.

  • This is an INCREDIBLE performance. :D

  • Simply beautiful...

    he´s just inspiring..

  • Wonderful routine!

  • where is this taught?

  • TW's "Wild Card" (or Tamed Cards) routine is taught in extensive detail on the L&L Publshing DVD called "Tommy Wonder, Visions of Wonder vol. 1" part of a killer 3-disc set... it was a gorgeous trick in his hands because he had an absolute mastery of theatrics and knew how to make his audiences ride along in solving his apparent "mistakes"

  • GAWD

  • The best wild card ever!! with a story...seems like real magic!!!

  • He is amazing.

truly a masterpiece version of wild card.

  • Simply amazing. A true artist.

  • Pure entertainment.

    How to do it?

    Being him.

  • being yourself not being him..just practice your actor skills

  • thta was amazing

  • hell no

  • Excellent!!!!! WOW

  • how long is he dead? how did he die and wot age?

  • He died June 26, 2006 in a age of 52. I dunno how.

  • Cancer.

  • Awesome!

  • Oh my God that was wicked! RIP Tommy Wonder.

  • ... sadly Tommy Wonder passed away of cancer in 2006, his sense of timing and tasteful showmanship were unlike anyone else, this trick is proof that he was a true perfectionist and a master of misdirection...

  • so fun, so great

  • this guy made the best ambitious card and the best wild cards i've seen ever!!

  • OMFG!

I wanna know or I'm gunna kill someone

  • Hehe, my guess is: No! :)

  • awesome performance

  • Yes I do.

Your next question will be: can u tell me?

    ...Guess the answer :)

  • As far as learning this, how plausible is it to get the timing down to look good?

  • haha that was sick!

  • i am blown away by this trick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • watch the face to the black guy from 2:20 - 2:23

his going like: wow, WTF just happened!? XD

  • wow.. just wow...

  • the master...RIP tommy

  • you know what's weird....The man sitting next to Tommy is also seen in Bill Malone's on the loose dvd, sitting on the same spot also as spectator

  • I believe thats because he is part of the production of those movies, he doesn't know ANYTHING about magic, so they thru him in as a spectator, its funny really, some one who works on a magic DVD who doesn't know anything about magic! And I believe his name is David.

    Cheers,

    ~Chris

  • Yeah you're right he is also in other magic dvd's with some other spectators.

  • No. Only sleight of hand, sure.

  • The trick is not technically hard. The moves are easy. BUT, and this is a huge but, timing on this trick is critical to make it seem as magical as Tommy does. It seems like real magic and that is not just a question of technical skill, it is very much about the performance itself, and that is extremely difficult to do at this level.

  • PWNED!

  • Insane magician, and his subtlelties in all his work are insane.

    R.I.P Tommy Wonder.

  • i have his book... he has a strange way of doing tricks, but it works great :)

  • is socked coins in his book?

  • I know how he does it...but I couldn't perform it like that. Tommy was an awesome magician who deserves a lot of respect.

  • it...meaning the whole trick. He's so excellent though. Could I do it??? haha, I wouldn't do his trick justice unless I practiced it for a good while.

  • Plus I wouldn't reveal such an awesome trick.

  • is it hard?

  • It's...yes and no. It depends skill level and how good you perform it. A lot of the trick isn't the trick itself, but the presentation of the trick.

  • a legend

  • incredible!!

  • R.I.P Tommy Wonder one of the greatest magicians that ever lived.

  • Now there's a guy who knows how to perform, not just do tricks that demonstrate how much more skilled he is than they are, but to really give the audience an enjoyable and memorable experience.

  • Thats amazing how tommy can make any trick to be awesome.

  • awesome

  • Everyone, I don't question your right to post magic secrets openly, but please don't do it. Think of how it would affect you if you were a magician.

  • Where do they find this audience? I wonder because the same black dude was in bill malone's similar video with the same setup. I was wondering if he was an actor cause of the ridiculous reaction. Not to say wonder isnt a god, but I was curious that that same guy keeps showin up.

  • Tommy Wonder and Bill Malone - and dozens of othes - all worked with L&L Publishing. L&L invites all the audience members. As far as I know, they're not professional actors, but people who make good audience members - like David, the black guy you're talking about - are invited back again.

  • Ah makes sense

  • maby hes got too much time on his hands?? lol

  • i saw that guy in many magic videos

  • this is one of the best card tricks ever :o

  • Please stop trying to figure it out and enjoy the ride he took you on .

  • please!! stop at 2:39´ thats a astonishment face!! jaJAJ

  • Phenomenal. Genius. FLawless.

  • This is not a very fine version of the Wild Card effect. This is the FINEST, most creative, funny and ´natural´ version of the wild card. What a fucking genius!

  • pure magic, he was a genius, rip

  • I love it when magicians pretend as they screw up.

  • what a gentleman!

  • Perfect! You should also check out Ineski's aka Miika Pelkonen's Tamed Spades. Also very neat!

  • Incredible! one of the bests card-manipulator.A true legend.

  • Great routine, if somebody wants to learn it, just mail me, we might trade.

  • Man, Tommy Wonder was a genious. My favorite magician, for sure. Thanks a lot for posting this video.

  • Ladies and Gantlemans...it was Tommy Wonder...his routines are unbelievable...RIP mr. Wonder

  • Ladies and Gantlemans...it was Tommy Wonder..his routines are unbelievable...RIP mr. Wonder

  • 5 star dck master..wow...

(the pink girl is hot too...hehe)

  • How did he do that?!

  • The guy in the blue shirt and the one with beard and glasses just near the table are always present in these shows, look at some bill malone or daryl martinez shows. Sometimes I saw also the girl that pointed the force card at the beginning. Curious!

  • najs trick , where goes the 4 clubs ??

  • i noticed something he took the first card from behined otherwise i have no idea how he did it

    he is amazing

  • One thing that really bugs me, is where the hell does the fours go :(

  • Hey, I thought exactly the same thing. The facial expressions of the audience are sometimes the best part of the magic. I'm sure Tommy Wonder got all kinds! RIP Tommy - thanks for the magic.

  • haha. look at the guy in the blue shirt at about 2:40

  • he forced the jack and tried to find a reason for the girl to pick it quickly

  • no, he did not need her to pick it quickly, he could have done it slowly as well, it's part of the presentation

  • oh. i didn't know that

  • But that's perhaps the least amazing/amusing part of the trick. :) Although that "reason to pick quickly" is an absolutely great presentation, IMHO.

  • this is a great trick. if anyone knows how to do this trick i will swap trick for trick , i would like to learn this

  • We can see a magic here. We all miss you Mr. Wonder

  • i second that... a pity i will never get a chance to watch him live... =(

  • Tommy rules! he is certainly missed in the world of magic.

  • top

  • I'm glad David is in so many, he is such a good spectator. He's hilarious in On the Loose. Bill Malone has a great time with him.

Fantastic effect by Tommy Wonder though and brilliant presentation which was clearly very special to him. He uses 50 pages in his book to describe this effect and the psychology behind it.

You will be missed Mr Wonder

  • I quite agree with you, true expert!

  • I recognize him too. He's in all of them because L&L Publishing is located in a guy's house in Tahoe, and they have presentations and I guess they invite certain people to watch, and he always comes.

  • Fuck the wierdo who's that bird in the pink skirt?

  • my wife :D

  • wow

  • This guy was the greatest. Really.

  • I now the trick but its hard to perform

  • The black dude is David. He's retired. He loves saying shit during the tricks. LOL

  • very nice

  • that black dude to the right , is in every magic video I own!!! What the hell????

  • Right, I see him on every video too!

  • me 2

  • Ha ha ha, very good. I like that routine.

  • Nice! :) He is really good!

  • Awesome !! wonders!

  • WOW, That's! Magic!!! I love a funny magician like this

  • off to buy visions of wonder

  • how about you do somthing better with your time or stop being superstishus

  • HOW THE FUCK DID HE DO THAT?

  • Brilliant. I saw this live and it still fooled me!

  • LIVE!? from him or someone else? if u saw it live from tommy wonder u are the luckiest man alive!

  • tommy wonder = Immortal!

  • dont tell me your from L&L :P

    great presentation btw

  • Haha! No, I ain't from L&L though that won't be such a bad job! ;)

Saw it when he was in Singapore on a magic convention lecture.

  • That is just beautiful. I'm going to go and buy his "Visions Of Wonder" DVD right now. What an incredible man

  • chicago opener blows. This was a very nuanced performance of Wild Card. Brilliantly done.
