I'm a huge fan of Flair and wrestling, been watching it since i was like seven or eight. Do the wrestlers skill make any difference at all? If it was all staged then the best man obviously doesn't always get the titles Flair's success would be based on the GM's liking him and wanting him to win all these titles not actual skill.

Very exciting stuff from the early 1980s. Hopefully someone has more matches from the NWA's first two Starrcade wrestling cards. Funny how some wrestler wins the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, they are very popular with the crowd for a while. And then, when their ego gets the worst of them as their World title reign continues to grow, the crowd starts to hate them and would like to see them beaten for their belt. Harley Race and Ric Flair are two examples of this.

@TheCastellan The work was that Pat O'Connor was to be the ref, but NWA President Bob Giegel learned that Race and O'Connor were partners in a St. Louis nightclub. In the best interest of the sport, he removed O'Connor and appointed Gene Kiniski as ref. There was no love lost between these three, either.
