Because I was stupid to go to a public college of medicine? I mean to wait for a free hand out while I could just apply for a private school and pay with a private loan (of course probably higher interest) once I got accepted.
So does the University of Pennsylvania need geniuses to make 'em look good? I thought their program could teach a monkey to be a doctor? how about I pay the in state tuition x2 so you could teach me right to be a legalized certified healthcare physician?
I live in Canada and the requirements for getting in an MD program are retarded! Every university I have looked up has average admission GPA of like 3.8 and 32+ MCAT. I haven't tried the MCAT yet, but I will this summer plus I'm almost done with my BC.s degree this year. I'm really frustrated by this stupid competition...I may not even stand a chance with 3.34 GPA as of now. but I will take extra courses and try to creep up to 3.5
@Shuffle3956 Could you possibly go to med school in America? Even so unless this is a very good college it would be hard. Just try to do your absolute best on MCAT and hopefully you majored in something useful in case you don't get in.
Not sure I know the answer to that question; not sure anyone does, but I promise you this: If your GPA and MCAT are in the range the school is looking for, they will NOT reject you based on your personal statement.
The school knows it's pretty much bullshit, you know it's pretty much bullshit, and at the end of the day everyone will probably write a personal statement that tells them the same story. Just do your personal best and you'll be fine. After we were accepted the administrators came in and pretty much told us that all our personal statements read like B.S.: no one was surprised.
Yes, I remember the administrator told me that I didn't have too many extra currics (but I got in anyway). So yea, make sure you do more than just volunteer at a hospital, or if you only volunteered at a hospital, make sure it's more interesting than I pushed carts and talked to people in the waiting room. I don't know about so many people having outstanding GPA's and MCAT scores. You've looked at the school averages for osteo & allo right? Some of them are not so outstanding.
So tailor your list appropriately and apply to schools that you stand a chance to get into. If you're applying to any school outside of your state, it'll be in your best interest to only apply to private schools b/c the public ones are legally biased to folks that come from their state. My gpa was a 3.4 and my MCAT was a 32. I'm average in my accepted class. You'll be fine, now stop bugging me. :)
nice vid... im from philippines... Im a 3rd year medical student.. Our school's name is Ateneo De Zamboanga School of Medicine. We're on our clerkship this coming month of november. Goodluck for us... Our 1st rotation will be surgery, and will be staying for a month before going to the next department.
Funny vid, love the music and the resident pt and staff nurses were spot on
