  • Why didn't someone beat the shit out of all the booksellers and destroy all their book stalls? I would have if I had been there.

  • @ALTERED13TH Oh yea, because Anarchism dictates that no one stop you, or else they'd be hypocrites right?

  • @slackmason Exactly, although I am sympathetic to their anti government stance because our government has become too big and intrusive. Most anarchists are angry, spoiled rich kids who want an excuse to steal the property of other people.

  • @ALTERED13TH That's a sweet generalization, with no factual basis... Also, proclaiming sympathy now doesn't jive with the context of your original statement.

  • @slackmason Okay, I retract it. Anarchists are a tiny, fringe who have had no measurable impact on our society. That is not a generalization but rather a very accurate observation. At least Libertarians have had some measurable impact on America. When I think of anarchists, I think of the spoiled assholes in Toronto destroying public property during the G20 meeting last year and the spoiled assholes in England presently destroying public and private property. Are they anarchists?

  • @ALTERED13TH Anarchists are Libertarians... AAAAAND, Anarchism was extremely popular from the mid 1800's up to the 1930's, when systematic government repression made being an anarchist an imprisonable (And for foreign born folks, deportable) offense. thusly, eliminating those with a genuine understanding of what Anarchism is from society, and replacing that understanding with a usurped and false understanding of Anarchism in the media.

  • @ALTERED13TH To say that Anarchists have had no impact on our society is incorrect as well... Anarchists made up a HUGE (indispensable) number of those active in the labor movement, especially when it comes to union activity. It is a historical, economic fact that the organization of labor brought about not only an improvement in working conditions, but also made things like the 8 hour day 40 hour week, vacation pay, employer provided health insurance, and the middle class possible.

  • @ALTERED13TH and the last question, are they Anarchists? Maybe, I know some of the people at the G20 where. Of the rioters in England? I've seen very little Anarchist rhetoric coming from them. That being said, if a segment of society is politically isolated and marginalized as the ethnic youth has been in England (this IS the rhetoric I am hearing from them) They have every right to make their voices heard, The more the state denies their voice, the more aggressive they have to become...

  • @slackmason Most of the assholes rioting in England were spoiled rich punks and the poor in Western Europe and America are spoiled by the welfare states created by the liberal asshole political class to exploit them.

  • @ALTERED13TH You have nothing but generalizations to make. I have a generalization myself, the only wealthy people that riot are the police. ..............AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnd I'm done, arguing in this limited format is annoying. You got youtube, search around and see what the people on the street are saying,

  • @slackmason Okay, so anger begets anger and destruction begets destruction, so I don't think anarchy is the way to go. That is why anarchists have had little to no impact on society. I am not sure what political isoliation is in a democracy. I think cultural and societal isolation is more prevalent and due to the spoiling of the poor by the welfare plantations designed to exploit them.

  • @ALTERED13TH Didn't I already explain how you are wrong about the impact Anarchists have had on society? Anger and Destruction (by which I assume you mean the riots, which have NOTHING to do with the viability of Anarchist politics, economics or philosophy) are a reaction to authority, not excessive liberty. Democracy can really only result in the repression of minority classes in society. many minorities are politically unable to achieve just recognition and equal treatment.

  • @slackmason No, the riots are mostly spoiled punks in the industrialized world acting like asswipes. Has nothing to do with authority or oppression. About the closet this planet has ever come to trying anarchy are the many countries of Africa where violence, oppression and murder of various minorities is rather routine. Move there and let me know how you like it.

  • @ALTERED13TH "the riots are mostly spoiled punks..." < Can you link a source for that fact? do you recall what initiated the riots? Or the riots in Greece? or the riots in LA in '92? Watts? what is the common thread there? If it were a sports riot, you might have a point. Now, examples of working Anarchism: Spain 1936, Ukraine 1918, Isreali Kibbutz movement, occupation movement in Argentina. and endless examples of Anarchist methods of organizing improving peoples lives in emergencies ...

  • @slackmason First, thanks for making my point about anarchists being a tiny fringe with no measurable impact on society with your obscure references from 1918 and 1936. The Kibbutz could hardly be called anarchist or much of an impact on society, including in Israel even. What initiated the riots were spoiled, mostly young punks pissed off about losing money from the welfare state. Just as many terrorists like Osama were spoiled, rich mentally ill asswipes, so are the punks rioting.

  • @ALTERED13TH I don't know how YOU define impact, but the historical events I mentioned where quite important in their time and place. And are still being studied as important and relevant attempts at organizing libertarian socialist societies, and yes, the Kibbutz are considered Libertarian Socialist communities. Are Anarchists like Chomsky and Zin having an impact on society, or Allan Moore? How about the Common Ground collective that provided free health care to victims of Katrina?

  • @ALTERED13TH Also, what initiated all the riots I listed before were acts of extreme police brutality. not "spoiled rich punks", In fact, I DARE you to find a way to even identify a single "spoiled rich punk" participating in the English riots. making those kinds of statement and assumptions is just a convenient way for you to dismiss the genuine problems of social stratification inherent with western style capitalist democratic states. .

  • @slackmason There is something from the Puffington Magic Dragon Post about the bitches in VC, BC Type in riots-london-comparison-police into their search box. And since you are so aware I am sure you saw all of the photos of the spoiled, rich punks arrested in London. Check out the Independent and type in europe/faces-of-riot-accused-students-wealthy-teenager-and-boy. Many Muslim terrorists are spoiled bitches too like Osama Bitch Laden.

  • Charming character..

  • gon yerself big man...

  • brilliant

  • cool! :D

  • Abel Paz just died last month actually.

  • The wisdom of more mature people.....hahahaha Loved his reaction to your question, you cruel young man....:-)

Get us more of his thoughts on video, please this man is very interesting.

    Thanks for posting all this.

  • Anarchism has the best beards and facial hair. Look at this guy, Kropotkin, or Bakunin for example.

  • this is true

  • I LOVE BARRY!!!

  • If speaking how you feel and your value and political values are considered as " TheAngryCanuck, anger always spawns hate" then LET IT BE! IS WHAT WE NEED!

    SAf

  • I may not agree with the ideas, but I think the context and filming are excellent. 5 stars

  • Good vid!

  • I wish we had an Anarchist bookfair here in Boston. I can't go all the way to New York.

  • There's always the Lucy Parsons Center

  • Angry Canuck = ignorant troll with no idea about political philosophy.

  • You don't believe because you're woefully ignorant of what's going on in the real world. The Anarchist Book Fairs are getting larger and larger every year. Anarchists from a wide range of sub sects are working together on a number of different issues. Communism exists today? Again you tell us how little you know about the these things.

  • To TheAngryCanuck, anger always spawns hate. That's why we cannot take you seriously. You have "anger" in your very name.

  • Cunucky-chops, you are such an obnoxious fucktard it is almost endearing. How's The Brain doing (GUTB)? When you team up to 'pwn' evil commie far-leftist maniacs like Luke1200 you two kinda remind me of Master Blaster from Mad Max, except unlike you the real Blaster serves a useful function in the parnership.

  • hmmm id like to see if you can even define anarchism.

  • anti-state, anti-capitalist, revolutionary. we'll start there!

  • Great interview! Our Bookfair is coming up soon. I'll definitely bring back some footage.
