Thanks for the info. Been wanting to try the same. You know you can't find a true Southern toe backer cigar anymore. Everything comes from Cuba or the Dominican. Good point on the barter item.
Awesome barter potential. I had pretty good success with growing tobacco. The worst problems I had were the big green worms that were eating the leaves. Some soapy water killed them, but shooting them off with a 22lr was infinetely more fun. Just kidding about the 22, my pellet rifle was a much better choice to do the job.
I was gifted with 4 types of tobacco, and don't smoke also. I had the same thoughts. I didn't try growing it this year but perhaps I'll have some time to next season. thanks for sharing.... Suzi
"First of all..." LOL! I think you're a smart man. I considered investing in the rolling machine and tubes, for just that reason--barter--but decided against it because it might be too tempting to sample my product, being an ex-smoker and all. I haven't had even one in 23 years. I want to keep it that way. :)
Who are you talking to? Who am I talking to? I dunno I heard an answer but im alone here. But your talking to me right. But your not...ACCCCKKK IM SOOO CONFUSED!
It's looking more and more like "money" won't be worth much in the future (not that it's worth much right now)... so yes... I think we might do well to have some things that are worth trading, in the days to come.
@texasprepper2 wow I hope your wrong as well lol ..as I havent grown anything this year...Guess Ill put my friends wife on the street corner cause if I said my wife, I would be on the street corner and then we would starve...

it makes the tobacco better if you cut the seed pods off when they are head high.

it helps to take the leafs of and string them up with a big sowing needle trough the stem.
seen it like that before, but never done it. tell us how it works.
btw, what kind of tobacco here in Texas. is that a special variety or is the green house the trick.
would home grown tobacco be 'healthier' (meaning not as bad) as store bought. thinking about all the chemicals the T-Industry pumps into it.
