There was a time when Abhishek was doing superb and you could totally detect his confidence and amazing performance in the films (i.e. B&B, Sarkar, BluffMaster, Dostana, Guru, etc). He is going through a down time that's the reason you can sense it. When everyone bashes you left and right - your low self-esteem along with lack of confidence in the script shows.

I think Abhishek is a capable actor if given the right script &director. His chemistry with Rani is mind-blowing one. Root for u dude!
