people say that but according to TRD website they make a TRD supercharger for the 2007-2008 TCs. I guess they could have stopped making them for the 09 models. People say it's because of money no ones buying them but they still make them for my 98 4runner

I drove my sc tc less than a week before replacing that sorry ass, pos, plastic bypass valve with an APR R1 diverter valve. Noticed a difference instantly.
i dont need much. that s/c is prolly giving you 40 or 50 hp to the wheels. maybe 60. headers and reflash alone get my car 30. then add on intake, exhaust, img, and etd. it will be a very close race.

well you can turbocharge or supercharge both GT and GTS to get even 300bhp so it's more than enough for the FWD car. it would be interesting to drag race a scion and celica with similar bhp.

Of course, you can get a large turbo, but it wouldn't be street legal anymore. And besides, with the weight and the gearing it has, it's not going anywhere fast.
But, gotta admit it, for about $18k sticker price, you get a decent commuter car w/ all the amenities.

Its about 4000 less than that, hes a dumb ass. the supercharger only runs about $2000 on a good day. keep in mind thats just a rounded number. I can't remember exactly how much it is. But its not ANYWHERE close to $6000, that man should be fired. ha. you can get them with the car or buy it after. Either way it doesn't void the warranty, so its a very nice upgrade from the underpower car it is, puts it at about 180-190HP nice!ha:)

i have a 05' tc which has a cold air intake, exhaust, headers, and its "chipped". There is a website online that produces a "chip" that clips on a MFS (mass flow sensor) that is like honddata for hondas....makes the ECU think there is more air so it feeds it more gas....it has GREAT reaction time but its not compatible with the SC
It's not a huge amount of power. You get about 40-60WHP out of it. If you were getting into the upper 200's in total hp you'd need some engine management, engine re-build, and probably a new tranny would be a good idea. But no, that is the Toyota Racing Development supercharger that you can have toyota/scion install for you and keep you within your original warranty.

hmmm... my dealer said that since the Supercharger had to be financed seperatly, the warranty would not cover the supercharger. when asked about turbo he said same deal. but the motor would not be affected. perhaps he lied to me but i don't think so since he is a good friend and fellow tuner.
you got lied to bro. the supercharger is covered under the normal warranty, but only if it's installed at a toyota dealership. if you're already past your warranty, then you get an additional 12 months or 12,000 miles on any problems due to the s/c
guess you can't trust anybody anymore. not even the dealership. But still if i was dropping 4 grand i sure as hell wouldn't bother with this 40hp piece of shit. but that's just me. thanks for info. :)
well my buddy's dyno tests show he actually got 60 to the wheels. so he was pushin more than an SI would to the crank idk why trd says 40. but yea, i agree 4 grand is way overpriced even for 60
agreed, but a friend just told me if you change headers and some of the internals (as if that wasnt even MORE expensive) you can pull closer to 110whp. it just depends on your budget and what you consider "worthwhile" i guess.
with headers? i'm not so sure. headers will give your car MAYBE 6 or 7 to the wheels. but, if you change out the stock crank pulley and replace it with an aftermarket crank, you'll free up a lot of the hp loss. a stock tC will get about 10 whp restored from it. i'm sure a supercharged one will get a lot more. Buyer beware though, aftermaket cranks are known to cause a lot of damage in the long run on lots of cars. haven't heard of much damage on tC's but that's prolly cause their so new

nahh the stock hp for tC is like 160
if u add supercharger its about 200-210 hp. but 195 on the dyno
its cheaper yes, but it doesn't add as much horse as some would like (unless you're going around 7000 rpm)
however, the torque performance increases dramatically at around 5000-6000 rpm. when you'll ever go that fast, i don't know.

honestly, i wouldnt go for the TRD s/c. its just not worth the money for the little extra power you get. i'd go for a stage 2 from turbonetics. but as of now, im still driving the stock 161hp..

hmmm... my dealer said that since the Supercharger had to be financed seperatly, the warranty would not cover the supercharger. when asked about turbo he said same deal. but the motor would not be affected. perhaps he lied to me but i don't think so since he is a good friend and fellow tuner.

you got lied to bro. the supercharger is covered under the normal warranty, but only if it's installed at a toyota dealership. if you're already past your warranty, then you get an additional 12 months or 12,000 miles on any problems due to the s/c

well my buddy's dyno tests show he actually got 60 to the wheels. so he was pushin more than an SI would to the crank idk why trd says 40. but yea, i agree 4 grand is way overpriced even for 60

agreed, but a friend just told me if you change headers and some of the internals (as if that wasnt even MORE expensive) you can pull closer to 110whp. it just depends on your budget and what you consider "worthwhile" i guess.

with headers? i'm not so sure. headers will give your car MAYBE 6 or 7 to the wheels. but, if you change out the stock crank pulley and replace it with an aftermarket crank, you'll free up a lot of the hp loss. a stock tC will get about 10 whp restored from it. i'm sure a supercharged one will get a lot more. Buyer beware though, aftermaket cranks are known to cause a lot of damage in the long run on lots of cars. haven't heard of much damage on tC's but that's prolly cause their so new

I have a plain '06 Scion tC and it is one hell of a solid car. Brand new and loaded by default for around 17 thousand.
Toyota makes solid vehicles.
